Weapons here behave similarly to real weapons. A polearm is honestly better in a lot of situations and will punch right through mail if you manage to thrust it right. Those massive two-hander swords Link runs around with in game are just as easily wielded by him it's just here it take into context what hitting someone with a chunk of metal that size will do.
What about the gigantic one handed swords he wields, such as those looted off of lynels?

Now many Rupees does Link and Zelda have other than the 700 they are about to spend?

Absolutely jack. Though I'll tell you now saving Rupees is not in your best interest.
well that's ominous.

Among other things on that list and based on what the GM said. yes it was.
Pity. The only thing on there that I don't want to vote for is the Soldier's Broadsword.

You know, I wonder just how useful the shock arrows will be in Zora's Domain. The Zoras are vulnerable to them, but the enemies there aren't especially vulnerable to them, and quite a few are electric themselves.

I agree about the Shock arrows but we already have a decent amount of broadhead arrows according to the GM. As for the Soldiers Broadsword. I originally had it as my first choice over the Knights Broadsword.

If plan We're broke and need gear drops the shock arrows, and two of the hearty lizards, it could fit the Knight's Broadsword.

No, I am not dropping them.

We have no idea what we're walking into or what awaits us. All we know is that the area is very wet meaning electric arrows have a distinct advantage.

Anything in the water or trudging through swamps is a prime target for electric arrows including human soldiers if we are forced into conflict with them.

I agree with Bag of Bones. we need them. If I had thought about it earlier I would have gone for them over the broadhead arrows in my list. Granted I would have had to drop something else to get what I wanted on the list but I still would have gotten what I needed even if I had to go for the not as effective equipment on the list.

Carrying your purchases back to the inn proved to be quite the difficult task, even with you strapping your new sword and shield to your back. Getting jostled by the crowd nearly caused both of you to send your items and new armour flying. But you managed it, and the two of trudged your way through the entranceway of the inn where one of the serving girls were waiting for you.

"Oh welcome back! I see you have your instruments and... armour?" She asks, eying your packages.

Zelda laughs, not even her scars preventing her smile from being truly radiant, "Ahahaha, you know how dangerous the roads are! Now we'll just be going up to our room-"

"Aren't you going to play?"

"Oh of course! Just let us put all these packages away~"

The woman smiles, warmed by how this peasant girl held herself and the kind aura she practically radiated. She was probably thinking that even the rich clientele didn't carry themselves with the nobility that this scarred girl did, the grace with which she moved or the commanding presence of her voice. As the two of you headed up the stairs perhaps she thought, even if she didn't grasp the truth of the situation, had the princess lived to become a young woman perhaps she would resemble that elegant, virtuous girl.

You shook your head as you hear the woman mutters a quiet "tut tut" and walk away, dismissing that thought from her mind. You weren't sure if it was an unconscious reaction or Zelda simply falling back on old lessons but how she could just... stumble into being the very image people had in their minds of who the Princess was is something that always sent your mind whirling. She resented it, pretending to be something she wasn't and the Zelda you knew, even from faded childhood memories, didn't line up with that legend of her. Yet when she does, when she seems to embody that myth.... Wasn't there a point of commonality between it all?

As you close the door behind you, Zelda answers that question when she turns to you with an expression of utter panic "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAA-!"

Ah, so that's it, "You forgot we promised to do that, didn't you?" You ask with a flat expression on your face.

"What are we going to do?!" She practically chokes out, "What song would we even play?!"

You open your mouth to reply, then close it when you realize you have no answer.

Hrmm...

Zelda's expression turns to pure horror as she drops her purchases thankfully on the bed. She starts frantically pacing back and forth, hands clasped over her mouth. You set your bundle of purchases onto the table a little less unceremoniously and let her think, as you really didn't have an answer for her.

Then she suddenly whirls on you, a desperate look in her eyes, "Do you know the ballad of the goddess?"

Your eyebrow meets your hairline, "Uh, yeah? It's a children's song-"

Zelda doesn't answer you, as she frantically unwraps her lyre and holds it up proudly, "We have our song! Let's go Link!"

You raise your hand to object but she steams past you, unceremoniously shoving your pan flute into your hand and dragging you out the door by your arm.

Leading you down the stairs and into the common room Zelda seeks out the serving girl, who rather surprised at how quickly you had apparently prepared directs you to the stage. A thick pit of dread settles in your stomach when you notice that the common room while not full still had a fair amount of people in it. Before your old panflute rotted away you did occasionally entertain the village when you snowed in but that was among people you knew for years, who only had what the elders would occasionally bring out. Never have you performed amongst total strangers, alongside someone who you've never seen play before and in the city where they probably heard professional musicians play.

This is going to end in disaster, you just know it. Yet you can see the innkeeper mouthing "go on" to Zelda, who seemed emboldened by their faith in her even if you could see her hands were trembling. Eyes were falling on you now, voices whispering in shock at the scarred girl standing on the stage.

"What happened to her?!"

"Is this some pity thing?"

"That poor thing..."

"Ugh, some disfigured beggar is on the stage. This establishment can not possibly choose good entertainment."

"Who's that boy with her?"

"I think I saw them together, her husband?"

"Hrmph, fool is wasting his time with that one. She's ruined herself."

"Hush vile man, oh they look adorable together."

"Must be performing for food, poor things."

"She must have been quite the catch for that young man before those burns..."

"I'm sure she thought the same of the boy!"

"They're both kinda short honestly..."

"A cute couple or not, I'm not having my evening ruined by peasants. Look at those instruments!"

"They do look rather cheap..."

Wel, this was encouraging. Swallowing down your nervousness you bring your panflute to your lips as Zelda holds her Lyre steady, giving the strings a few experimental plucks as she prepares herself. Then by some unspoken signal, you begin...

When Zelda finally finishes, crimson eyes opening to regard the crowd you could see a hint of sadness that no one clapped, a flush of cheeks as she thought she must have made a fool of herself. She didn't notice you had stopped playing half-way through, mouth hanging open. She didn't notice at first that every eye was on her until cups slipped from numb fingers. When realization dawned on her that she was holding the room's attention Zelda held her new Lyre close to herself, eyes nervously glancing between the frozen crowd,

"Uuuhmm... S-sorry this is my first-time p-playing for strangers. I-I.... I'll... um..."

Yet no one spoke up, every eye unwaveringly placed on her.

Music and magic had always been considered related. It was said that the most powerful magics known to Hyrule, the power to control time and space itself, was taught to the Hylians as songs. The ballad of the goddess was an old song, as old as history. Perhaps those with a connection to the old gods could draw out some hidden power, something that could enrapture the heart even if you didn't know if the singer indeed had any skill. For when Zelda played on that Lyre, when her voice rang clear and true across the inn no one could be really sure if it was natural.

Zelda herself seemed to change while playing, just as she had before your eyes when she announced her name. She drew the eye as if a beacon, her hair almost shimmering in the flickering candlelight. The joy she felt in her heart as she played that song clear with every syllable she sang. The scars on her flesh did nothing to mar who she was in your eyes, as her voice could be heard throughout the inn, inspiring awe in whoever heard it. Perhaps you were simply imagining it though, Zelda's appearance at least as no others seemed as transfixed as you were on her, as they seemed fixed on the music.

It was probably because you realized how much it must have meant to her, that must be it. Anyone friend you cared for would bewi- keep you focused on them if they felt as much happiness as she did when she played.

But sadly, a terrible realization dawned on you as you realized just how she sang that song, and you practically grab Zelda and swiftly escort her off the stage and up the stairs to your room. Zelda was stiff, in shock and when you finally shove her through the door deflates like an Octo balloon.

"They... hated it..." She mutters, sounding on the verge of tears.

You freeze, temporarily lost for words. "...How did you get that- Nevermind, Zelda you sang it in OLD HYLIAN!!"

Zelda blinks, "Huh? Oh um... I just thought that version sounded better. W-wait, is that the reason-?!"

You wave your hands. "Nonono, Zelda. Focus, who're the only people who would know old Hylian?!"

She ponders it for a few moments, "Obviously people who take the time to learn it of course, it is a very difficult language to master with our modern tongues. But come now Link, truly you wouldn't be surprised that someone who holds herself as a scholar would not know ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh now I get it."

Zelda sets her Lyre down on the table and then stiffly sits down on the bed. She grabs on of the pillows and then without missing a beat shoves it against her face and begins to scream into it. When she finally lets go to take a breath she looks right at you with panicked tears in her eyes, "Link I'm so sorry. I messed up, I messed up bad. Oh Hylia Oh goddesses what am I going to do. I've ruined everything! You're in danger and they're going to come after and they'll find us and then they'll do hurt you and it's all my fault it's all my fault-"

"Zelda, Zelda breathe it's okay. Just... breathe and you're starting to go blue," You observe as the girl continues to fire off a stream of worries while wringing her hands. Suddenly she does pause to take a breath before looking up at you, a desperate glint in her eyes.

"H-Hey, it's a really rare language though right?! What are the chances anyone would know it right?! And if everyone hates it then no one would just think I shouted jibberish!"

You think for a moment on that, it was true you only knew about it because you had a royal tutor and they could only teach you from old books located deep within Hyrule Castle's library. Several century-old books that took permission from the King in order to take out.

But there was one wrong conclusion Zelda had drawn, "Uh, they didn't ha-"

A knock at the door nearly causes the two of you to jump out of your skins. You both glance at the door, both happy it was relatively sound proof.

Zelda gets up, straightens her dress and then walks to the door, opening it a crack. Voices come through, it sounded like the entire inn's staff was standing outside.

"Deary, are you alright?"

"Y-yes, I um... " Zelda replies, nervously swallowing.

"Haha, stage fright at your first successful performance! It's alright dear, we won't force you to go out again!" The innkeeper laughs.

"Oh to think you spoke Faron, why you are a remarkable young lass!!"

You could visibly see the gears jam in Zelda's head at the woman's comment. "...Faron," She repeats slowly.

"Yes! The professor told us, he said he recognized it immediately! The language of the Faron tribes! My, I always said we needed to bring a splash of multiculturism to our inn!"

"Yes, my mother was from the Faron tribes! She um... met my father who was a traveler before they settled down. They were both quite old, so when... I'm sorry..." Zelda says as she chokes up, only you realizing it was from her being so nervous she was supporting herself on the door to prevent herself from fainting.

"Aaaah, that explains- Well, you two get some rest! Oh, I know you two will have quite the successful career ahead of you. And to think it starts at this inn! Ohohoho~!"

The staff says their goodbyes and Zelda shuts the door with a click, locking it. She leans against it, head resting against the doorframe.

"They bought the lie," Zelda whispers, crimson eyes wide, "They think I'm from Faron."

"And they loved it," You say, a grin beginning to split your face.

Zelda turns to you, eyes like dinner plates. Then she jumps, letting out a very un-princess like woop.

"YES YES YES! AHAHAHAHA!" She cries out, jumping up and down for joy.

You pump a fist, yeah! Things turned out great! Your first performance! Everything is going to be fi- GAH!

Zelda slips and crashes into you, sending you onto the thankfully soft bed. Her hands immediately shoot to her mouth, shocked at what she accidentally did.

"OH NO I'M SO SORRYI'MSOSORRYI'MSOSORRY-"

You wave a hand, "It's... it's alright. Just... gonna lie here for a bit, today has been exhausting."

Zelda rubs her arm, "Y-yeah, we should probably head to bed."

You sigh and begin to roll yourself off the delightfully soft bed, "Pass the pillow, please. Oh, and if you could get my cloak out that'd be nice, it's supposed to be cold again."

Zelda shakes her head, a blush spreading across her cheeks, "N-no, Link look. Just... just sleep in the bed."

You stop rolling and stare at Zelda.

Zelda rapidly shakes her head, "L-look, we're both adults right? And we're friends, who traveled on the road together! It's... it'll only be weird if we make it weird, right? Just... there isn't wrong with friends w-when it's a desperate situation like this right?"

You're still staring at her as Zelda looks away, looking...strangely crestfallen and whispers so quietly that you were certain she hadn't intended for you to hear, "It... wasn't weird when we were kids..."

She remembers...?

You... think you've been missing something about how Zelda acts around you...

You throw up your hands in defeat, "Alright, let's just... go right to sleep. Isn't that different to camping on the road, no need to make it weird."

"Y-yeah," Zelda mutters, the deepening blush telling you that maybe you'd made a mistake.

Ugh, why does this have to be so awkward? A-atleast Zelda feels just as embarrassed about it. I-if you just keep your backs to each other it'll be like the other person isn't there and you won't feel weird for sharing a bed with a g- with another person.

Right?

"Oh my, had a restless night you two~?" The serving lady teases the two of you the next morning as you both tried to enjoy your ham sandwiches and soup.

Her face paled noticeably however when you both turned to stare at her, baggy eyes filled a hatred for all things good and cheerful.

"I... I'll... just... leave you two alone!" She stammers out, before scampering off.

You and Zelda both turn to look at each other, a quiet agreement forming between you.

"Two beds from now on?"

"Two beds from now on."

Never did you expect two people to get so close to murdering each other than last night. Still, your friendship had endured the two of you kicking each other and stealing blankets and this morning there were no hard feelings only a shared hatred of everyone who was cheerful in the morning. Ugh, you weren't even sure what the two of you were even expecting in sleeping in the same bed, even you were beginning to remember that when you were kids it ALWAYS ended up like this. It almost played out scene for scene, other than the initial awkwardness and no maid to rush in and shush the two of you.

But well, at least you got to remember a bit more of your shared childhood, that was a plus.

"Soooo...." Zelda begins, "What are we doing today?"

"I have no idea."

She sighs, too tired to make any comment, "Well, there's the academy. We might be able to learn more about the current state of Lanayru and the viability of me getting healed there. Or well... you will, someone is bound to recognise me there."

"Not sure how well I'll be able to relate it to you."

She grins a bit, "You just need the Sheikah slate, it can scan any document you point it at. Just uh... don't let anyone catch you with it."

You rub your chin, "That's quite the handy feature, think we'll be able to find anything useful?"

Zelda leans back in her chair, "I hope so, we're going there blind. I wonder what the princess is up to now, or if she remembers me..."

You lean forward, resting your arms on the table, "Princess?"

Zelda leans in as well, nodding, "Mmm, we were close after.... sorry, after the um...thing."

You wince, even referring to her friend it was hard for her to talk about her mother's death.

"Hey, you see it yet?!" Someone from another table asks their companion,

"No, haven't been there yet. Is it really covering the place?"

The man nods, "Yeah, thought they were endangered. Incredible really, and on the sacred grounds?"

"Yeah, must be a blessing."

"Silent Princesses..."

Zelda's eyes go wide, and she whispers at you, "Silent Princesses?! At the sacred ground?!"

"What's the big deal?" You whisper back, confused, "They're plants, incredibly useful plants but just plants."

"They're my favorite flower! But blooming in the city, this is a scientific curiosity!! Argh this is such a tough decision! I can't go there alone!"

Yeah, you'll need to make a decision. Do you find out more about where you're going and any potential dangers or go to the sacred grounds and see why Silent Princesses are blooming in the middle of the city.

[X] Go to Library

Sacred grounds sounds like a trap and we need to know what we're up against in the Zora realm.

Besides if it's really a scientific curiosity the library should be emptied out.

Guys, I get the feeling it will be a really bad idea if we go to the sacred grounds.

Think about it: princess's favourite flower blooms suddenly en mass at a holy place when most of Hyrule practically deifies her.

The place will be swarming with people and empire goons (maybe Yiga as well); it is the absolute last place we should be taking Zelda.

Your points are good but there's a problem with going to the academy too: I prefer not to separate from Zelda, not while still on Hyrule Castle Town (much like the conversation about yesterday).

Zelda will basically lock herself in your room if Link chooses that option.
Well, that solves that issue.

And yes it is a risk but far less so than delivering her right to the one place the empire would have its eyes on.
