Considering they're reusable, and most elixirs are a touch meh compared to the old variety (or require nonsensically difficult-to-find critters), it's not quite the bargain it seems to be.

Just want to keep the prices even. 440 rupees is a decent amount to spend and leaves us with quite a bit left over.
Besides we have other elixirs we need to make besides health potions and having a spare bottle could prove useful in that regard.
For ingredients, if breath of the wild taught me anything is that you need to have a decent supply on hand at all times lest you be screwed when a sudden rainfall hits when you're climbing a mountain.

Don't be stingy and especially don't ignore the fact we need stamina potions.

Going with this. We should also try to save our money for if we encounter a merchant with decent weapons.
Agreed. Cooked food is both much more powerful and easier to get by random scavenging.
Then again, I guess Elixirs do have their place here for being both more portable than cooked meals and not relying on Link and Sheik having bottomless stomachs.

Food is just food here. While it might occasionally have a magical effect, it'll need to be paired with an elixir for it to happen. The Willow Bark is just aspirin.
I feel I should also point out that while Link and Zelda are badass's they're still only human. Link getting clubbed in the chest by a Moblin will result in a few broken bones and Octorok's are launching stones at you. Armour, shields and better arrows might be something you all might want to consider purchasing. Other weapons than swords might prove decent as well, especially against larger enemies you might not want to get too close to with a sword.
So no filling your pockets with snacks made from Apple + Hearty Truffle?

Link has set aside 3000 Rupees for horses and needed items. Though not new weapons. He figures he'll go through all 3000 Rupees in town.
So if I'm reading that right whatever is left over from what we spend here will go into weapons.

Hi, new participant. I notice that Chu Chu Jelly keeps coming up, which means that we definitely aren't hurting for obtaining those. Therefore I don't think we should spend any money in that direction, and instead think we should buy:

The reason why I think this is a better distribution is because I fully expect to have parties of three later on, with someone coming along as aworthless "combat" NPC escort mission companion in whatever hijinks we get up to later. For parties like that, 6 bottles total is a good number, where we can split the bottles in pairs for everyone, or just give three to the pair in normal zone.

We already have Chu Chu Jelly back at theLinkz totes awezome 4t treehouse as established by the first chapter, so we shouldn't spend money buying what we already have. I don't know how or where we can get willow bark, especially since we're heading into Lanayru, so willow bark is definitely on the get list.

No, it'll be all the cash you have left period. However do be aware by the time you encounter another merchant you might have run into a bad situation and might need medicine, or replace your boots after you get a spear through your foot. Or you could have lucked out and came into some more cash, though you have no gurantee you'll get more anytime soon.

You have no Chuchu jelly on you, and chuchu jelly is used to make elixirs as the primary ingredient.
Lanayru also isn't a desert, you'll probably spend most of it waist deep in water actually.
