[x] "Sure, he looks heavy."
[x] "Hmm. Yes. Come over in the morning."
"Sure, he looks heavy." You inspect Avagis doubtfully. How are you going to get him to his room without waking him? "I'm pretty tired, too, honestly."
"Oh?" Sidonie looks undimmed from the day's events, you envy her slightly. She indicates Avagis's left side, and lifts his right. You lift him gently but apart from a loud snuffle, he doesn't wake, his head falling onto your shoulder. You brace for his weight, but actually he's not as heavy as you thought, an easy load with two people. "How are you coping, you think?"
"With today?"
"Yes. It must be a lot of changes to go through, all one after the other."
The pair of you move out into the corridor. Sidonie heads for the stairs. "Let's use the elevator. I want to try it out anyway. I have a strange feeling, like… if I go to sleep, the person who wakes up will be Countess de la Bota. Or that I might wake up from a dream. But I have a feeling I'll get used to it."
"That's the right attitude to have. And it's not wrong."
"What isn't?" You reach the elevator, a pair of shiny doors and press the up button. The doors bing in a way that almost makes you jump as you drag Avagis inside. Sidonie smiles. Things like this must be common in the capital.
"You're not too far into adulthood now, aren't you? The person you are now, the person you would have been… those won't last long now that you have a title and feudal responsibilities to consider." Sidonie looks at you over Avagis's shoulder "Speaking from experience. I've been at this for a while."
"For a while?"
"Decades, easily."
"Decades?" You pause and frown "...just how old are you?"
"A lady never tells, Mireia. You should pick up the habit too."
"So old fashioned. Hmm… I'm not sure I want to leave Cofre del Tesoro and my parents for too long, though. I've only been back from school for a little while."
"That's a pretty sentiment, Mireia. It suits you." The lift arrives at the second floor and you negotiate Avagis through the automatic door "But you really must appreciate the gravity of the situation better."
"I know. I must make my family name unassailable, when all this eventually does come to light."
"Exactly!" Sidonie says, then cringes and lowers her voice as Avagis starts slightly. "And I intend to help you."
"But why? I know we discussed this before, but I'm not convinced you really answered me."
"Why what? Help you?" She looks almost shy. "In truth there are two reasons. One is perhaps ugly, the other, I think think is perhaps unfair. The ugly reason is that there far too many ageless beauties at court, and I feel the need to inject some new blood every now and again."
"That is not as ugly as you report."
"True, but the second makes up for it by being unfair. The fact is Mireia, that I hope to arrange something with you. An affair I think."
"That's cruel of you. Until today, I was to marry a man, but he turned out to be a traitor and broke my heart.." You sniff. "Now you're moving to fill the space."
"I must move cruelly quick before you fill the gap in your heart of your own accord! Kissing your escudero so tenderly right in front of me." She nudges Avagis with her shoulder for emphasis, and waves a finger at you. "Taking your time. Getting us all drunk and showing off those gorgeous arms of yours."
"...excuse me?"
"Your arms, Mireia. Do you have a complex about them?"
"...n-no."
"You should! Because they look amazing." She blinks, obviously slightly drunk herself. "And we're getting sidetracked. The important thing is whether or not you're willing to be my ally in the court, and go places where a lowly magistrate like me cannot."
"I already agreed, didn't I?"
"Also important is whether or not you intend to sleep alone tonight."
"Ahah, so it comes out now, doesn't it?" You smirk challengingly. "Were you planning that this the whole time?"
"More or less. I was expecting your escudero to stay awake for it." She sighs. "But we mustn't waste situations we didn't plan for."
"I'm not really of a mind for more romance."
"Neither am I." Sidonie shrugs. "I just don't like sleeping in cold sheets and I just love to scheme for pillow talk."
"Scheme for pillow talk? You have complicated interests, Sidonie."
"Oh, if you only knew. It's more a vice, by the way." She comes to a halt and leans him against the wall so she can look at you over his shoulder. "So! What do you think?"
How do you reply?
[ ] I am willing to entertain an affair, but only for one night.
[ ] I don't mind continuing our conversation in bed, but only our conversation.
[ ] I'm sorry Sidonie, today has been too tiring.
[ ] This is… too complicated tonight.
More importantly, you're closer to your suite than Avagis' room. What do you do?
[ ] Bring him to his room, then go to yours.
[ ] Put him on the divan in your room, so you can keep an eye out.
[ ] Put him on your bed. It can easily fit
two or three people anyway.
