Olive Farm 120 Talents. Fishing Jetty 140 Talents. Temple 130 Talents. Stone Theater 130 Talents total cost 520 and we have 467.3 Talents at the end of the turn. plus we stil have not gotten loot from this war and we can always dip into The Sacred Treasury if we need to

Well, then we should have the funds to go for all of these at once:

[] Olive Farm [120 Talents, takes 1 year to build, will produce five units of Olive Oil after five years] Olive Oil is a valuable trade resource that the city can ship abroad for export.
[] Fishing Jetty [140 Talents, takes 1 year to build, will produce three units of Salted Anchovies immediately] Salted Anchoves are another trade resource, and a fishing jetty can encourage fishing among citizens, improving the city's naval and merchant tradition.
[] Stone Theater [130 Talents, takes 2 years to build, will raise the city's reputation and profile and net 30 talents a turn from citizens].

Probably more, once we get the loot from Syracuse. And there's not much reason not to get started on all of them immediately. Though obviously we want to keep a reserve for any midturn expenses that will probably pop up--but the Sacred Treasury, at least, gives us the safety net for war expenses and real emergencies like famine.

I personally think we should focus on getting a notable trade good produced before spending time an money on a fleet or cultural buildings.

There are some things I'm willing to spend but ransacking the Sacred Treasury for income generating buildings is both wasteful and an affront to the Gods if we try to do that if it's not an emergency.

I don't know why you'd need to. Even without a Syrakousai indemnity you could pay for three buildings right off the bat, and that's before 312's income.

What? No one is suggesting that. I'm just pointing out that the whole point of the Sacred Treasury is that we already have a reserve for emergencies--so we shouldn't hold back in using the regular treasury for our building program.

EDIT: Wait someone did suggest that whoops

Dipping into the sacred treasury for non emergencies is a bad idea yeah. Don't do it.

I dunno man, we dipped into the treasury to build an income-generating building that one time, and that went great for all involved!

I feel our people are going to heavily agitate for a proper temple. We've already blamed Antipaters loss on the Gods, and though we eventually won the war Herodions crippling will likely be seen through the same narrative - the gods supporting our cause in general, but disagreeing about something in our city and warning us by striking at our finest. A temple could show we are making amends to the gods and the Priests will push for it hard.

So, I recently started listening to the History of Rome podcast, and I learned an interesting tidbit about the origins of the Italic peoples: Apparently, genetic testing reveals that the Latins, and by extension, the Italics, had migrated from the Balkans across the Adriatic, like the Iapygians would do later, while the Etruscans had genetic links to Asia Minor. This implies that the Etruscans may be the last remnants of the pre-Indo European population of Italy, who migrated to the peninsula thousands of years ago, and may be related to other non-Indo European peoples of the Eastern Mediterranean, such as the Minoans. The reason why the main non-Indo European population of Italy is in the northwest is due to the fact that most Indo-European migration came from across the Adriatic. However, it is worth noting that at some point, the Celts would migrate into the north of Italy through what is now Provence.

Anyway, @Cetashwayo, is there a major issue that has caused the delay of two to three weeks to have been extended to months? When can we expect the next update to come?

I won't say anything until late August when I get back from work. The last thing I want is another spate of teasing people up and down with stop and start hiatuses.

If people want a good empire builder quest to pass time in August, then I know that the famous Community Council Elections is rumoured to get a sequel that month.
