Magical Girl Flesh Horror~!

I'm still a bit unsure about including split on our core, but whatever. What's the worst that could happen.

[x] Plan: The Devil and the Dealer, split version.

More seriously our super spy will probably just get detachable limbs or something. Seems appropriately thematic.

Act One - Part Three: Letting Go
With the nasty business out of the way, you slow down your truth-song, recuperating the energy you spent on it. Parts of it fade away, allowing one aspect of it to take primacy, for now - You'll leave it in. Might as well! Who knows, maybe it'll find something interesting. Then, you take the unknowable part of yourself back in, melding it with your flesh. At a certain point, something snaps, and you're able to perceive its component parts again, which is nice. Then, you get to work on modifying new things.

You need a way to make him not tell people about you. You've got his eye - And, speaking of, you slot that neatly into your core bulk and feel very pleased with yourself. It's a trophy! It integrates very easily, the magic settling into you. Then, you turn towards forging some kind of pact organ, because that's what you want, really. An organ that can take promises, and bind them to yourself and the other person. The idea of an organ compels you, for this one - You have been singing your magic, but a song always ends. A pact endures. And nothing is more enduring than flesh. You know that, in your heart. And so, you painstakingly carve a promise into your flesh with a claw, a bleeding and burning channel of letters filled with blood - One of obligation and duty to live and remain alive, to remain present. And then, you layer it in a coating of flesh, you feed into its channels more and more blood, and you allow the old blood to wash out, coalescing in a pool in your flesh. A moment more, and you arrange it to run like water from freshly formed taps, and sculpt the pool into a basin of bone and nail. You come, then, in the guise of Super Spy, and take the blood. You insert it into your veins, and let it flow through you. A pact is not made lightly, and it is a pact that you shall offer to Jeremy. It must be worded exceptionally carefully. It must be convincing. It must be persuasive. You must channel the blood in your veins, your connection to flesh itself, and have him bind himself to your blood. That will suffice.

You feel something change in yourself, in Super Spy. The blood pumps and roars in a way it did not, before. It is not a song, but it is magic. And it is something that will stay with you, for as long as the blood remains within your veins. For now, it is turned toward the matter of the pact, towards filling your heads with procedure and loopholes, for making your smile more real and your voice more natural - But later, it can be turned toward other things. Blood is, if nothing else, fluid, after all. And then, your attention turns to the last remnant of your small experiment of a scavenger - Your little wooden toy, split apart - But not broken. A key difference. You think to yourself…what would happen if instead of just storing it away, you bothered to simply integrate it into your core? It'd be easy, wouldn't it? Plus, it'd be useful without really restricting access - It's simply logical. Decision made, you move to embrace the toy after its distance from you, and bring it into your flesh, gleefully.

You feel the idea of it coalesce within you - But rather than enabling you to split apart like it did the scavenger, it synergizes with something else - Your broadcaster. It whispers to it, words you can no longer hear, but merely feel the thrum of as they pass through you. You can take a guess, though. Whatever is said to you, your ears uncomprehending, it takes root regardless - You feel a better connection to your split selves. You feel as if you could walk further than you could before, that your broadcaster is more equipped to handle the strain of being apart. (Your Broadcaster's Range is expanded for as long as Split is within the Core. You haven't run up against the limits of it, yet, because you haven't left the Street Outside, but suffice to say they are larger now.)

With that done, you head upstairs. It's time to make a pact. Sabrina isn't there, this time - Probably busy elsewhere, and thus, Jeremy is tied to the chair. He tilts his head at you. "More questions?" He seems calmer, now. You shake your head. "Nope! Just time to make an agreement, Mister Jeremy, that's all!" He sighs. "Well, you got me beat already. Hit me with it." You're tempted to raise your arm for a second, but then you realize that's probably not what he meant.

You consult with your persuasive and legalistic instincts for a second, and you inform yourself that the best way to handle this is to be straight with him, be as blunt but general as possible, and not beat around the bush. This is magic - The simpler you both make it, the simpler it'll be. "So, Mister Jeremy - You and I are going to do something very serious, so I want to approach this with your full understanding. You and I are going to make a blood pact. You're going to take in a bit of my blood, and it's going to circulate around in your body, and if you break our promise to not tell anybody about me, Sabrina, or what happened here, it's going to tell me, alright?" You smile. "It won't hurt you, even if you break your promise. But if you get rid of it or even try to get rid of it, I'll know." He grimaces. "I assume this will also let you track me and whatnot?" You pause and think about it. "Within a certain range of myself, yes." This is a technical truth.

He chews on his lip. "...How'll it know? Listening? Or more, uh, conceptual stuff." You pause. You…probably ought to tell him the basics - But not enough to help him subvert it. "It'll know because it'll know." You think that suffices, and he nods, seeming to get what you're trying to get across. "Yeah, alright, that works for me." You don't sense any lies from him at this moment. It seems he's accepted this as the cost of getting out of here. "You said I gotta drink it or whatever? You gonna-" This question is answered for him in an instant as one of your tentacles whirs out and jabs a soft claw into his arm. "Ow! Give a guy some warning, please!" You think that was, perhaps, a bit pettier than you needed to be…your brain still doesn't like him, after all - But you're going to try to be better than your brain. "Sorry, I'll do that from now on!" He grunts. "Craziest thing is, I think you mean that." You nod, eagerly. Of course you mean it! You flex the you that is in him, and feel it mix and mingle with his blood - His magic. It won't deactivate when he leaves the range of your broadcaster, which is good. It'd be really awkward if that didn't work, after all. If he ever thinks he's broken that promise to you, you will know he broke his word. The blood will tell you.

With that, you set about untying him, and then walking him downstairs. It's a strangely silent affair - He seems to be in no talking mood, and you're not quite sure what to talk about! So, you simply lead him downstairs, and to the door. He pauses, at the exit. "...Thanks, uh, for, being so reasonable about all this." You shrug and nod. "No problem, Mister Jeremy! Remember - Keep your promise!" You wave as he hurriedly exits.

It is March 30th, 1923. You have no current passive gains. Your current goals are to ask if the man outside needs any help (Time Limit: One Day), to investigate Herman's Theater of the Soul, and to close the Poster Portal (Time Limit: Ten Years). Your current Available Biomass is 0.
Your Current Assets Are (Bolded words are Biomass):
1x Super Spy (Perceptive, False Humanoid, Shield, Poison, Likeable, Persuasive, Convincing, Mage, Lawyer, Lie Detector)
Your Current Resources Are:
1x Shed Snake-Skin (Keyword: Refresh)

Your fully explored areas:
Your Home!
(Sub-Areas of Interest: The Lobby, Empty Apartments, Fleshbed, Roof)
You know of the following unexplored areas:
The Street Outside
(Sub-Areas: Jeremy's General Groceries
, The Alleyways, The Apartments, Laurel's Boxing, Sabrina's Apartment, Roy's Office, A Small Refuge, ???)
The Rooftops

(Sub-Areas: ???)

Asset Situations

Explore [Sub-Area] with [Asset]

Explore a newly discovered location or sub-area! Make sure to specify which asset is exploring - This will have an impact on what may or may not be discovered! Feel free to include write-in instructions if you so desire.

Patrol [Fully Explored Area] with [Asset]

Sometimes, you need to play defense - Or simply linger in an area you've been before! This means patrolling that area and finding out what's changed about it, or if it's going to change in the future.

Visit Carl's Parlor of Dice and Cards

Frederick was such a nice young man, you feel at least a little obligated to visit! Sure, you don't have any money, but you're sure you can talk your way into it, to at least watch or something. And maybe you'll even see Frederick again!
Note: Visiting here will unlock a new Location. You can assume this of most 'visit' actions.

Visit Herman's Theater of the Soul

You're visiting this place with Sabrina to investigate it! So that you can shut it down, because it probably seems to be evil!

Drop By Sabrina's Apartment

You can visit Sabrina whenever you want, if you need her help with something, or if you just want to hang out! Mrs. Johnson has promised to feed you whenever you drop by, which you're quite happy about. Free biomass is always good! Plus, her food actually tastes good. You will gain biomass from this. Feel free to specify topics to discuss with Sabrina (or Mrs. Johnson).

Spend Time with Roy

He seems to be lonely, really! Though sometimes he seems like he wants to be lonely, and that's alright. But when he doesn't want to be lonely, you can visit him, and talk! Maybe he can even help you sort out your potentially perilous housing situation…or help you avoid getting in trouble for it, at least! Feel free to specify topics to discuss with Roy.

Work at Laurel's Boxing

Well, you've got a standing offer to come clean at Laurel's Boxing! She seems really tough, and Mister Flynn seems to be a bit of a…you think the term is 'scoundrel', but you're looking forward to going there again! Make sure to specify which asset is going to work. You will gain biomass from this. Feel free to specify topics to discuss with Laurel (or Sydney).

Talk to the Man Outside

The man who sleeps outside seems as if he might be the sort of person who needs help - But you can't be sure without talking to him, in some form or another. You're not sure if drawing attention to him is the right option…but you're also fairly sure that he won't be around for long, if you've interpreted the temporary nature of his small refuge correctly.

Deal With The Poster

You need to deal with the Poster, and there's only one way to find out how - Experimentation. Throw something at the poster and see what happens. Note: This may cause damage to whatever assets you throw at the Poster.

Biomass Options

Create an Asset.

Create an asset and pick as many keywords as you'd like for them, so long as you have the Biomass!

Recycle An Asset

Recyle an asset or parts of an asset. Make sure to specify which asset and/or which keywords. Important Note: This can be done in the same 'turn' in which you create a new asset with the biomass from the old asset!

Modify Yourself

You currently have the Immutable Keywords of Magical Biohorror, Broadcaster, Immobile, and Idealist. You have the normal keywords of Cute, Pactmaker, Split, and Recorder. You may add keywords to this, which will not be immutable and can be recycled and changed as you wish!

QM's Note: Let's keep going with the 12 hour moratorium and 48 hour voting period, those seem to be working out well!

Let's drop Perceptive, Interrogator, Persuasive, Convincing, Mage, Lawyer, and Lie Detector from Super Spy. Then add Disguise and Lucky back, and send it to go help the man.

We can use the remaining biomass to remake kudzu.

See? While that was not the result I expected, it is a quite good one, and shows that trying new things is worth it, as long as we don't go for bad words like corruption, evil, untrustworthy, or other things like this on our core, I don't see any problems happening.

"Well, you got me beat already. Hit me with it." You're tempted to raise your arm for a second, but then you realize that's probably not what he meant.
Just for that, I am almost regretting we don't have a paper with the contract written on it, would've been funny to launch it at him as soon as he finished the sentence.

You think that was, perhaps, a bit pettier than you needed to be…your brain still doesn't like him, after all

Meanwhile, our brain is all like *that's for all you did to me! Revenge!*

Let's drop Perceptive, Interrogator, Persuasive, Convincing, Mage, Lawyer, and Lie Detector from Super Spy. Then add Disguise and Lucky back, and send it to go help the man.

Agree in general but:
We can use the remaining biomass to remake kudzu.

Given what was said some time ago, I'd say we place our growing words on our core, to see the difference and because I think that quite a lot of those would benefit from being there rather than on an asset.

Yay, Situation resolved (hopefully).

I'm still in favor of the kudzu being a separate asset. That way we can use certain keywords on it like Forgettable to hide it that could be problematic on the core.
We can shift a few things to the core now though. Perceptive and Likable are probably safe enough to switch.

When we remake the Kudzu maybe we should include more words for how it produces too? Like Hydroponic or Hydrophilic. That could help with the "Go onto the roof and soak up a rainstorm" that was mentioned.

[X] Plan : Help the man and get some damn food!
-[X] Recycle Perceptive, Persuasive, Convincing, Mage, Lawyer, and Lie Detector from Super Spy.
-[X] Add Lucky and Disguise to Super Spy.
-[X] Create Rat-Catcher : Predator, Invisible, Odorless, Strong
-[X] Super Spy: Talk to the man outside.
-[X] Rat-Catcher: Try to find the Sewers to hunt rats

Personally, I would like to try a faster way to get biomass.

FYI, Interrogator should already have been recycled last update.

[X] Plan: Core Trial
-[X] Recycle from Super Spy: Perceptive, Likeable, Persuasive, Convincing, Mage, Lawyer, Lie Detector
-[X] Modify core with: Perceptive, Likeable, Photosynthetic, Bountiful, Productive
-[X] Modify Super Spy with: Disguise
-[X] Make a new asset: Kudzu: Growing, Refresh
-[X] Talk to the Man Outside with Super Spy

So the idea here is that we keep the "Productivity" words on the core, but the actual growth and spreading words on our assets. So all our assets will be productively photosynthetic/hydroponic/geothermal/chemosynthetic/etc. But the actual growth and use of these keywords will be left to our assets. That way we can say have a Growing, Spreading, Mimicry, Forgettable, Boring, Uninteresting, Plant. Without all our other assets being forgettable, boring, uninteresting, or plants.

It also moves Perceptive and Likeable to our core, hopefully making their benefits more broad.

Hold up… there's no consequence to breaking the pact? Or rather, if he tells anyone else or thinks he's betrayed us, we'll know, but it won't hurt him or stop him from doing it… Pactmaster I'm thinking was insufficient.

So like, he's totally gonna tell his buddies sooner or later, no reason not to. So what if we know he told on us? What are we gonna do, track him down and hurt him? No we won't. If we're lucky he thinks we're deranged and actually would hunt him down.

Well whatever, we'll just have to make the apartment complex into a fortress. Take over the whole thing. Maybe try to get some tenants, see what it takes to legally or the building.

I wouldn't be so worried. He very much has reason not to.

First of all it would be making us an enemy. Since the blood also lets us track him down, we very well could track him down again. While we probably won't, he doesn't know that.
Also consider what he has to gain by telling people about us. The only "Gain" that is up for grabs would be the potential to recruit us. But if we know that he has betrayed us that will automatically make us much more hostile to an attempted recruitment.

Most of all, we have quite a bit of blackmail on him. More then he has of us. Sure he knows where we live, but as far as he knows we could just pick up and move if he tells anyone. On the other hand we know that he is secretly a spy in the guard for the UMF. That sounds like the sort of information that could get him in very big trouble if it gets out.

So he has strong reason to wish to avoid our ire, and little reason to invoke it. The only situation I could see him telling his buddies is if he thinks he has nothing left to lose. So as long as we don't go out of our way to destroy his life or anything we will be fine.

I should probably make my own plan:

[x] Plan: make everything grow!
-[x] Recycle: Mage, Lawyer, Lie detector, Persuasive, Convincing
-[x] Modify Super-spy: add Disguise
-[x] Modify yourself: add Growth, Bountiful, Roots, Plentiful, Refresh
-[x] Talk to the man outside with Super-spy

Ok, the QM did hint at the fact that placing our growth key words on our core would be more beneficial than placing them on an asset, so I want to do so instead of trying again for a Kudzu that we will probably destroy at the first occasion, again, we really should keep some of our static growth. The expected result of placing our growth on our core is that all our assets also contribute to the growth, instead of just the one that have it.

By the way, it seems like our refresh keywords got lost somewhere along the way.

There was no static growth. That was made clear when we asked about it. I don't think putting it on our core will change that. We need to use actions to place our asset in conditions conducive to growth, and that will probably be easier for a mobile asset than our core.

[X] Plan: Core Trial

There was no static growth. That was made clear when we asked about it.

I was talking about passive biomass gain when I said static growth, as opposed to the active growth obtained by feeding.

We need to use actions to place our asset in conditions conducive to growth, and that will probably be easier for a mobile asset than our core.

Note the fact I used the word roots, it's not chosen at random.

The reason why I insist on placing bot Growth and Roots on our core is because:

-Having growth there is very much sure to be better than on a specific asset IMO because it makes every assets growing instead of just the one.

-Our core is already immobile, so it is already in good position to use roots, and it's not like placing it there will stop any other assets to grow roots if we want them to, on the contrary, it allows every single one to do so without having to apply the word to every single one individually.

IMO all growth word should be on our core, and we shouldn't create Kudzus but assets that can hide to make them increase the effects of said growth words, so photosynthesis on our core, and an asset on the roof with stealth words to benefit from being photosynthetic, roots on our core, and the same kind of asset to move in a place with a rich soil to plant it's roots, and so on and so forth.

So are we talking about growth as in "Producing biomass" or growth as in "increasing in size"?
I generally agree with your approach, I think we are just disagreeing a bit on terminology. My understanding of the "Growth" keyword is that it is associated with the asset in question growing in size over time. This is not something I want on our core. Whereas it's stuff like photosynthetic or roots or whatever which deal with the actual production of biomass.

Part of the reason is well, on our core we have the keyword immobile right? But we don't have immovable. I'm hoping that at some point in the future we could move locations my just sticking the keyword "Small" or "Tiny" on our core, and having our super spy carry us. Maybe do some tunneling to make a sub-basement and move into that.

Put putting growth keywords on our core could impair that, or make it too costly.

Also putting "growth" on our core means we will have to put a bunch of stealth keywords on it, which we may not want to.

So basically I agree with putting keywords-that-have-to-do-with-the-production-of-biomass on our core, but not keywords-that-have-to-do-with-growing-in-size.

So are we talking about growth as in "Producing biomass" or growth as in "increasing in size".

Here it's purely, *increasing biomass*, seems like increasing in size requires things like *huge, giant, oversized*.

Whereas it's stuff like photosynthetic or roots or whatever which deal with the actual production of biomass.

What we got on the kudzu seems to show that this is not exactly the case, having more biomass may make our core bigger, but in that case we can simply remove it by using said biomass to make new assets and applying words.

Part of the reason is well, on our core we have the keyword immobile right? But we don't have immovable. I'm hoping that at some point in the future we could move locations my just sticking the keyword "Small" or "Tiny" on our core, and having our super spy carry us. Agree with the idea, not for right now, but given that it is the base of our consciousness, and that Jeremy still got there, I wouldn't want to stay there too long, not enough security.

Also putting "growth" on our core means we will have to put a bunch of stealth keywords on it, which we may not want to.

Why? Even if it relates to physically growing in size, we aren't going to go past our current room before seeing the problem and removing the offending keywords from our core, so I don't see why this would be the reason to place Stealth words on it.

So basically I agree with putting keywords-that-have-to-do-with-the-production-of-biomass on our core, but not keywords-that-have-to-do-with-growing-in-size.

Well, I agree, but I just think that growth is less likely to make us grow in size than us going for words like huge and giant.

And I am interested in putting a root system on our core because it is already immobile, might as well take advantage of this.

This seems to indicate to me that if we had taken certain actions with the Kudzu it would have grown:

@TheMaskedReader Is the kudzu's biomass output improving as has been suggested in the recent posts?

We don't really know what each keyword is doing individually.
Asset keywords influence what an Asset can do when assigned to a situation, as well as what its base bonuses/attributes will be. You guys have a solid foundation with Kudzu, and that's why it's generating biomass. However, to return to my RTS metaphor - A resource extraction unit is often best in certain areas, or when actively gathering resources or whatever. Apply the Keywords to options - Kudzu isn't infrastructure, it isn't immobile, if you wanted it to be that, it should be in your Core Keywords, as I've said before. If you want Kudzu to get bigger and better, have it go do things like sit on the roof and drink from a rainstorm or find a garden and gather more plants. The 'patrol' option exists to allow things like that, even - Get creative with it!

Plus, it's free biomass! The price/balance of "free passive income" is "it takes a bit, unless you're willing to take some risks" :V

Now we can't know exactly why, but I'm assuming that capability was because of the keyword "Growing".
Plus I'm not sure roots is the best keyword. We don't exactly have an abundance of fertile soil here after all.

Or hmm. Hey. If we want to tunnel, why wait?

[X] Plan: Core Trial

[X] Plan: Dig and Eat
-[X] Recycle from Super Spy: Perceptive, Likeable, Persuasive, Convincing, Mage, Lawyer, Lie Detector
-[X] Modify core with: Perceptive, Likeable, Refresh
-[X] Modify Super Spy with: Disguise
-[X] Make a new asset: Tunneler: Ground-Penetrating Radar, Tunnel boring, Productive, Lithotroph
-[X] Talk to the Man Outside with Super Spy
-[X] Start digging a tunnel under the basement with Tunneler. Avoid any preexisting tunnels.

Creativity is the name of the game? How is this for creativity. Forget boring old photosynthesis or roots, when we can instead have Lithotroph. Dig out a tunnel, and eat the dirt for biomass.

edit: slight keyword change

I think I would prefer it if you kept the word lik…
Modify core with: Perceptive, Likeable, Refresh

Nevermind, that works.

*Search definition, find that it's about eating minerals*

Hmm…

That definitely is an asset we can't replicate with our core, and a way to prepare for moving ourself in a more secure location.

[x] Plan: make everything grow!

[X] Plan: Dig and Eat

Though I think you missed an opportunity by not naming it dig and run. :V

[X] Plan: Dig and Eat

Very creative idea, we can probably also find sewer system on the way with it, assuming scarlet didn't know sewers existed.

[X] Plan: Dig and Eat

Although it depends if we have good solid dirt to work with down below or if its been filled up with like concrete or something that we can't easily break through without screwing with the structural integrity of the building/whole city
