Answers of Vagueness
"-cas!"
Rap-Rap-Rap "Lucas!"

There is only one possible way forwards and only one possible way to convey all the subtleties of emotion while not having a face and therefore eyebrows to waggle expressively at people. Your newly malleable sword on the other hand....

With a little concentration you form the sword into a question mark which, naturally, you locate atop your helm. Lucas raises a brow, Diana giggles and Morlia performs yet another face palm. You're a little surprised her forehead isn't a bruise at this point.

"Now, given I am essentially a committee of unrelated entities paying variable amounts of attention, I could be misremembering, but I could have sworn when last we discussed it, the plan was for you to act as an informant for us for the moment, not accompany us." You say, confusion emphasised by the question mark on your head. Lucas blinks a couple of times.

"Highly dangerous highly lucrative proposition doesn't really imply informant to me, you're clearly not from around here and you tried to sell me some crap that came from a ruin or something. You're telling me you don't want my help breaking into an ayleid ruin or something similar?" He doesn't really pause in gathering his things and packing them away.

"Well... I mean, when you put it like that...." You can sorta see why he might have gotten the wrong end of the stick.

"Fast how much didn't you tell him?" Morlia asks somewhere between aghast and disbelieving.

"I was planning on explaining later." You were planning on seeing if Lucas was trustworthy first, like anyone sane would. Atop your head the question mark squishes itself into a set of ellipses.

"I think now is later." Morlia and Lucas say at the same time.

"Okay, okay," you mime taking a breath, ellipses smoothing into a neutral dash. "Just so you know I'm not opposed to you tagging along but considering we're going to try and buddy up to a senior legion commander, it could cause some problems for both you and us, we should probably at least discuss it." Proper details can be given later when you have a better handle on what's going to happen next.

"Huh... I don't know anyone fitting that description hanging around Skingrad so I assume...."

"Leyawiin." Morlia answers.

"Well this guy probably has no idea who I am or what I may or may not have done. Not really seeing a problem, besides I can keep out of sight if I need to I'm not a fool." Lucas shrugs and keeps packing up. Nice to know he doesn't see a problem.

"Well, I suppose...." He probably knows better than you do but, and it's a big but, he's not above lying to you for his own advantage and he is awfully keen on getting out of Skingrad....

The question mark springs back to life over your head again. "Why are you in such a rush to leave Skingrad anyway?" You attempt casual, you miss by a mile.

"Reasons." Lucas says vaguely. "Been here a while, things are getting kinda boring, you know how it is." He waves a hand in dismissal but there's something, a slight but telling hesitation before he said anything about it. "So! We heading out soon or what?" Lucas grins widely at you and you realise he's completely cleared and packed his room. That was fast.

I feel like taking him with us is going to earn us enemies somehow.

I'm not opposed to having enemies, but I would like to know who they are before having them dumped on me.

Batman is really bad at making and keeping friends.

Oh yeah, actually voting is a thing I should do. Eh, no ham from me this time.

[X] "Man, I can't even remember, did I get around to telling you about the three evil cults we will probably be up against at some point? Not only are we trying to bring down the Dark Brotherhood, but most of the Daedric princes are pissing themselves over what they fear I represent, and will be trying to kill us soonish. That means their mortal servants will be after us, and in Cyrodil, the biggest cults are Dagon's Mythic Dawn, and maybe the necromancers, depending on whether Mannimarco is buddying up to Molag Bal yet."
-[X] "In the same spirit, if whatevee it is you are lying badly about would, or could affect us, I'd like to know about it. It helps to know what you have to watch for."
--[X] If he asks what the hell the lucrative element was, tell him that at least the Dark Brotherhood and the Necromancers usually have some pretty good shit on them, as well as commanding no small amount of wealth, (Even if the Mythic Dawn shitwizards use bound equipment, the basards), not to mention any rewards for bringing them down. Point out that to a man prepared, an assasin is essentially an unsolicited donation.

Oh look a wild Skewfiend has appeared.... Guess this means I should start thinking about writing an update... oh wait it's a tie :p

I need a tiebreaker guys.

Damn it. I can't be a tiebreaker when I'm contributing to the existence of the tie! I could swap votes, but...

The tie is broken

'Three Evil Cults'
"Well, we're not going anywhere immediately." You hedge your bets and Lucas sort of wilts a little, like you just told a kid that you aren't going to Disneyland. Yeah, there's no way he's not lying about why he wants to get out of Skingrad. Still, it's probably best to get everything out of the way now and just tell him what you're up to. Just a general idea can't hurt, right?

"Man, I can't even remember, did I get around to telling you about the three evil cults we will probably be up against at some point?" It feels like the conversation you had with him in the inn was months ago rather than a day or two.

"That did not really come up, no, beyond a couple of vague hints anyway." Lucas says and Morlia introduces her palm to her forehead again. "It's not like I asked." He adds. Right, exposition dump time.

"Not only are we trying to bring down the Dark Brotherhood, but most of the Daedric princes are pissing themselves over what they fear I represent, and will be trying to kill us soonish. That means their mortal servants will be after us, and in Cyrodil, the biggest cults are Dagon's Mythic Dawn, and maybe the necromancers, depending on whether Mannimarco is buddying up to Molag Bal yet." You don't think that's happening yet but you could be wrong. Diana squeaks at the mention of necromancers in conjunction with hunting you down. Lucas' eyes widen and he sits down suddenly, face abruptly pale.

"Lucas... is something wrong?" Diana asks, taking a half step towards him expression concerned.

"Most of the daedric princes out for your blood is not 'three evil cults'!" He sounds half strangled. "That's... that's...."

"It is hardly an ideal situation, I agree, however there is at least one Prince not after us and likely more." Morlia's prim and above all businesslike tone brings everyone back from contemplating exactly how many ways the princes will horribly maim you.

"Is there anything else?" Lucas asks, visibly bracing himself for something even more ridiculous.

"Nah, besides it is three cults. Dark Brotherhood, Mythic Dawn and possibly the Necros. No biggie." You flap a hand dismissively and decide to move on. "But, in a similar spirit, if whatever it is you are lying badly about would, or could affect us, I'd like to know about it. It helps to know what you have to watch for."

"Huh...?" Ah, he wants to play dumb. You aren't going to let that happen!

"You're overeager to leave if Skingrad is just boring you now." You point out and in a flash he has a confident smirk back on his face, no trace of shock or alarm at your daedric Prince problem left.

"Oh, that, that's a recently resolved worry. Nothing that'll affect you or your lady friends I'm sure." You have no idea if this is a lie.

"You'd better be sure, if you've stolen something from the Count and we get arrested for trying to leave the city with you..."

"I know better than to test my luck, excellent though it is, against our gracious Count's guards." Lucas says quickly over Morlia's accusation. "It's nothing that'll affect you, cross my heart." He shoots her a cheesy smile and draws a cross on his chest. Morlia huffs and glares down her nose at him.

"And you still want to travel with us? Even with the whole daedric Princes out for blood, thing?" You ask, just to be sure. Lucas nods. "Well, I suppose that means we'd better get moving." It's late afternoon but you can probably get a reasonable distance before night falls.

[ ] Wait there's still stuff to do in the Skingrad!

What's that? Lucas is hiding something? Nah, that'd be silly! :p

@Kyrina congratulatoons on the new face.

A couple of questions, if you don't mind:
1) are guild guides, a la Morrowind, a thing here? Skilled mystics who offer teleportation services?

2) Is public Transport of some description a thing here? Carts/carriages that hire themselves out to people, etc.

[X] Wait there's still stuff to do in the Skingrad!
-[X] hit up Sullinus and ask if he can teach you some basic, preferably spammable, spells. He probably owes us after the clusterfuffle he caused.
-[X] Touch base with Freya, and say goodbye.

If we are walking this whole way, it would be really good to be able to train magic skills.

Also, it would be nice to at least say goodbye to Freya.

That moment when you have to admit you've never played Morrowind

1) Gonna go with they exist but they're rarer in Cyrodiil then they are in Morrowind

2) There are carriages and carts and horses you can hire if you want to

That moment when you have to admit you've never played Morrowind
No shame in that. It's rather old, and for all its interesting ideas, storytelling and aesthetic, in a lot of ways the gameplay is a dog's breakfast, and the characterisation is almost entirely absent away from questlines.

1) Gonna go with they exist but they're rarer in Cyrodiil then they are in Morrowind

2) There are carriages and carts and horses you can hire if you want to
I'll bear that in mind if the journey starts to grate. For the moment, walking is probably better for our progression.
