But seriously, I would not try it. At all.
Ooohhh yes they damn well can. Or were you expecting humans to be rational? Not to mention they don't even really know how bad demons will get, in their mind MGs will always be the worse enemy until it's far too late anyway. Because for demons to be worse, they'll need to top out what the MGs caused in WW3. Which will either be actual extinction of the human race or complete and total subjugation.

I severely doubt, rational or no, you would take the time to take aim at two magical girls while running to save your ass from a giant, murderous demon that is currently chasing you.
More like, hope they kill each other off.
Optimally I guess, but I can see some soldiers stuck between the two going:
"Okay, die by scary raging fire demon projecting a fear aura or by cute, fluffy pink Magical Girl? ... What am I saying?" *Charges at the demon at full speed*
Unless they think they might take the MG with them I guess.

THAT would most likely happen. But anyway we might have chosen the route with humanity are dicks, but our narrator Naron isnt unfair. And even when he can be a dick, he isnt that much of a dick .... at least not now or this early. As long as we dont make major mistakes, such things wont happen in the near future.

Correct. However, much to your dismay, there are only that many twins around.
Additionally, people seem to still be working based on a misunderstanding in believing that demon attacks are common.
They are not. What happened to Heart of Light was a unique occurence, the same goes for the creature that attacked you. They are not common, they do not normally come to Earth and, most of all, that spider was not a demon.

I really want to but since it's always going to be there we will have many chances to look further.
This might be too much of a risk, i really want to try and find a more secluded spot before going deep in our magic.
There is school to worry about, in fact other kids have been mentioned on the front page involving school so slacking off may draw unwanted attention.
This one seems to be that the two get their bearings and really talk about what happened and what to possibly do from here on out.

Well it's more specifically the school might tell their mom about Rico's failing grades and we'll have her looking more closely worried about what might be wrong. At least this is what I think might happen.
