Kantai Collection - Fanfic Idea and Recs

If it flies, it dies.
If it has wings, it's falling.
Dynamic lift? More like die-namic lift.
Aeronautical? Take a sabbatical.
Aerodynamic? it's about to get catastrophic.
Taking flight? Soon you will alight.

What goes up gonna go down.
If God had wanted you to fly she would not have created me.

The TV commercial for the 2020 Kancolle Calendar.

The iillustrations are:

March: Asashimo, Akishimo, and Kiyoshimo in a flower field.
April: Richelieu with a big bouquet of flowers.
May: Akebono and Oboro in casual outfits.
June: Uzuki and Minazuki in rainy season.
July: Shimakaze and Amatsukaze in the ocean.

August: Maya and Choukai in swimsuit!! Praise Parsley!!

September: Abruzzi, Garibaldi, and Grecale in a vineyard.
October: Akasaka Yuuzu's Destroyer Escorts (Etorofu-class): Etorofu, Matsuwa, Sado, Tsushima, Hirato, Fukae group photo.
November: Sammy, Johnston, and Fletcher in autumn.
December (Christmas): Suzuya and Kumano in santa outfit.

Akishimo first appeared in the calendar preview prior to her in-game appearance. While there are no teasers or previews of future (2020) ships, it's very nice to see Choukai and Maya getting some attention at last.

New Year's outfits: Kazagumo, Akagi, Hiei, Sammy,

Hiei will also have a "C" refit similar to Kongou's.

Also, another year passes without Shinano. Here's to her, and for more ships from more nations.

New manga: Miiro no Alto Sax - Alto Sax of the Ocean Blue, the first chapter is now translated and can be found in a certain manga index.

With Shikinami as a main character, she found some left-behind instruments while cleaning out the base's storerooms, and became interested in jazz.

Definitely worth a look, and it uses some of the less better-known and rarely-characterized ships.

Yuubari Kai Ni has arrived! She has three forms: AA, ASW, and Amphibious Assault with minisub support, all with five equipment slots.

Also the Setsubun event has begun. De Ruyter and Matsuwa has special CGs.

So...I'm thinking I'll go ahead with Alicorn winding up in Kantai Collection. Details are sketchy concerning ALicorn herself until the third mission comes out, but ATM I have some stats for her.

The reason Alicorn has Glamrock Squadron is because, while Glamrock wasn't really affiliated with Alicorn's radical crew, their fame as old Erusean pilots and their demise defending Alicorn merged during the transport, causing Alicorn to arrive with them in tow. The reason she also has minders on Earth is because due to her shady history in Strangereal which she revealed during debriefing, the fleet will only let her sortie if she has people keeping an eye on her to make sure she doesn't go off the rails.

Is there anything I should think about during preparation, guys?
With Ten Million Relief Plan having been out, we've gotten alot more details. God, that 3rd mission was awesome...

The Alicorn's specifications are as follows:

Length (submerged): 495 m (1,624 ft)
Beam (submerged): 116 m (381 ft)
Height (submerged): 54 m (177 ft)
Displacement
Submerged: 810,000 metric tons (800,000 long tons; 890,000 short tons)
Surfaced: 650,000 metric tons (640,000 long tons; 720,000 short tons)
Propulsion: Two nuclear geared turbines/turbo-electric mixed flow pump jets with conductive internal flow magnetohydrodynamics units
Power: 300,000 horsepower (220,000 kilowatts) per jet
Engine: Two liquid metal-cooled nuclear reactors
Propellers: Seven forward-skewed propellers (estimated)
Speed
Submerged: 42 knots (78 km/h; 48 mph)
Surfaced: 37 knots (69 km/h; 43 mph)
Crew: 270–350
Company: 150
Air wing: 120–200 (20–30 aircraft)
Force projection capability: 400 kilometers (250 mi)

Weaponry

The Alicorn features powerful weapons on both auxiliary hulls.

48 Vertical Launch System missile launchers are placed within both hulls. These VLS launchers support various short-range and long-range missiles, including SLBMs. The SLBMs can carry various warheads, including 200 kt nuclear warheads. Additionally, the Alicorn carries heavy anti-air armaments along its bow and stern, including CIWS and RAM missile launchers that are deployed from hatches within the hull.

The Alicorn also carries two large electromagnetic railguns, one on each auxiliary hull, placed in front of the VLS launchers. Each railgun can fire 80 rounds per minute. The sabot in each railgun is 200 mm with a barrel length of 6.5 mm (33 caliber) and the capacity to support 155 mm projectiles, guided by GPS/INS. The projectiles range from Armor-Piercing Composite Rigid (APCR) shells to High-Explosive Anti-Ship (HEAS) shells.

In addition to the two side railguns, the Alicorn is also fitted with a far more powerful 600mm/128 caliber rail cannon hidden underneath the carrier deck used for long-range attacks. Its estimated energy output is at least 500 megajoules. When it fires at minimum-energy trajectory, its effective range is over 3,000 kilometers (1,900 mi), possibly up to 5,000 kilometers (3,100 mi). The cannon's projectiles can change their flight paths using terminal guidance provided by an SLUAV. However, should the SLUAV be destroyed, a fail-safe forces the projectiles to immediately self-destruct. It can even load discarding sabots armed with tactical nuclear shells. These 1 kiloton-yield projectiles are capable of killing anyone within a 400 meters (1,300 ft) radius around the impact site instantaneously.
(Doing some deeper investigation, I saw that the Alicorn can carry up to 256 of these sabot rounds.)
Finally, the Alicorn features a small jamming unit atop the superstructure used to produce ECM.

Aircraft

The Alicorn has a large carrier deck for full carrier aircraft integration. Additionally, 8 large bays on each side of the superstructure house launch ports for SLUAVs and Barrier drones, which can be used even underwater. The Alicorn can carry at least 20 and at most 30 manned aircraft, depending on the type of aircraft and the number of crew required to maintain them. The Alicorn supports five distinct aircraft configurations:

  • 20 Su-33 Flanker-Ds
  • 22 F/A-18F Super Hornets
  • 24 MiG-29Ks
  • 30 Rafale Ms
  • An unknown number of SLUAVs. (My own gameplay results with killing all SLUAVs while I waited until the last possible chance to destroy the last of the Alicorn's ballast tanks to avoid mission failure, along with the final two sets of drones launched, put me around 108 SLUAVs).
  • An unknown number of barrier drones. (I never got an accurate count but these numbers are just over100 as well. The last ones seen are the ones Matias uses to block you from attacking him when he breaks the surrender. In the Aces difficulty, there's around twenty.)
There's a beautifully made Kanmusu of Alicorn. I'll find the art later.

Today I want to highlight the works of the artist Ye Fan. They've produced a number of amazing artwork based on KanColle events in the past.
As an example: "Defending Hilo Bay". I give special attention to this artist because of the amazing sense of scale and composition, but still grounded nature of the illustrations.

Recently they started a new illustration series with HMAS Perth assisting in the ongoing Australian wildfires.

I'm trying to find the Kancolle story that had a Shipgirl bring a coastal Chinese city to become a Shipgirl.
But I am drawing a blank on where I read that story. Can someone please help me?
