Kantai Collection - Fanfic Idea and Recs

This is an idea that would not leave my head.

In the aftermath of the Pearl Harbor attack an Abyssal Princess Installation was born. Though she looked like a 5 year old holding a toy bow, a toy mortar, and wearing a shipping/repair/building dock plus airplane landing platform on her waist, back, and arm. Though She was the first Abyssal to appear. She was an accidental birth. If she waited she would appear as Central Princess and not Pearl Harbor Princess. She had almost no idea on how to use her weapons or her docking rig.

When she appeared her equipment appeared damaged due to the attack. And-

... ...I can't think of anything else. So I will leave this here.

Regarding the whole remodel thing: shipgirl remodels in Kancolle canonically can involve some pretty hefty structural modifications already. See: Fuso with 10 16" guns. Honestly, just handwave it and if you want some cool visual indicator, put it in.
I mean, you can change engines like no big deal, and Musashi's remodel turns her into the A-150 design, so...

The Battleship Iowa will be streaming soon with a veteran who served on both USS New Jersey and USS Missouri! Join us!

So are there any Kancolle works that bring up the subject of say, specialist equipment, weapon attachments, or additional weaponry given to kanmusu? It's something I started thinking about after seeing this fanart of Shiranui that Didloaded did a while back.

Had me wondering if perhaps there are ever certain modern modifications made to a shipgirl's rigging or even clothing that can give them an edge in combat.

Operator Shiraniu operating. :D

As for tomahawks, maybe should launch it like a stinger?

The Iowas automatically get Stingers, since that was the anti-missile defense in the 80s.

Really. Just MANPADs. Handed out to Marines.

Not to beat a dead horse but beyond anything else, the reason people generally choose not to modernize ships past like 1949 is modern naval combat is incredibly unromantic to depict.

A ship is scouted or detected! It is immediately hit by anti ship missiles from either another ship or an aircraft and it sinks!

The end.

You can stretch it out again with CWS stuff, but at the end of the day it's dudes across the horizon from each other pushing buttons until someone dies.

Eh... I don't know.

Tom Clancy did pretty good with modern ships. Have good memories of his naval focus books being as dramactic as any WW2 naval battle.

Cause remember even the fastest weapon still takes time to get from point A to B. CWIS and ECM, hell even position can foul modern weapons. The Frantic work of the crew to spoof the missile as the captain puts the ship into a tight turn to bring as many weapons to bare while trying to show as little as possible.

Besides most KC stories fall into basically the same thing. Pull tigger gun goes boom, correct and repeat till death.

At much closer range with far last time and things to save yourself. Often with no maneuvering to dodge outside of torpedobeats.

Cause it doesn't matter if say the Yamato is immune to 8 inch shell fire, it still almost 300 pounds of steel and explosives coming down at Mach speeds. The Yamato is still going to be hurting after a bit if she doesn't delete that cruiser fast.

Long story short, IT all depends on how you write it.

OUCH!!

MY EYES!

Could you pass those through a filter to try to remove the excessive lighting?? And do the same for the ones in the KC thread, while you're at it.

Done. All images resized and adjusted.

Sorry about this.
Don't apologize for it, no need. Just try to think ahead instead of rushing to post the pics, and find afterwards that they were an eyesore.

Besides making hard to distinguish the details, which most people would just find annoying, but not enough to comment, I'm very sensitive to strong light contrasts, so I had problems focusing after glancing at them. So when I got a second "dose" of them in a different thread I just went "ouch".

Rushing posts is something that bothers me, and not just with pictures. Some people seem to feel that writing a post is some kind of race so they trample ahead, without paying attention to spelling, grammar, and style, instead of "losing" (I'd say "investing") a couple of minutes to check that what they have written actually transmits what they intended to express. The way one treats and presents their opinion can have negative effects on how other people will read one's message.

So, I can't get this image out of my head.

Starship-based shipgirls would sortie from bases or transports in a fashion much like mobile suits.

That is to say, via scaled-up mass drivers.

Okay!

Sammy B.

Casual Yamato, a definite surprise for this update.

Urakaze.

Kagerou.

Gambasmile.

Amagiri. Damaged CG included because it's so badass.

Matsuwa and Sado.
