Kantai Collection - Fanfic Idea and Recs

So, I just dreamt up an idea of Yuudachi and Intrepid staring a sailing club.

I was trying to reference that Intrepid once jury-rigged a sail on her flight deck as a damage control measure. :p

Edit: Intrepid should also be an aircraft model enthusiast, since she's now an aerospace museum. I would imagine that her personal room would be cluttered with kits and model paint, and, if she's familiar enough to the other carriers, would present some of her work.

By that same vein, she's probably also a Trekkie. Cue fangasm if/when she meets Trek-E.
 
So I'm working on a description for South Carolina's outfit and I need some advice. I imagine something along the lines of Pacific's Edsall (though a light grey with slightly longer sleeves and the skirt part going down to her ankles with red tights). Should I make the gloves red to or do you think keeping them white would be better.

White gloves are traditional and South Carolina is nothing but traditional.

Kentucky kicked over the dead Ne class cruiser with contempt. Most of her girls were already checking around for usable equipment and supplies. This was except for L'Aventurier, who was bandaging Jutland's injured arm, and Sovetsky Soyuz, who was calmly keeping her main guns on their prisoner. The Anchorage Princess seemed in total shock. Understandable when she had been expecting reinforcements and instead had become the victim of a full scale assault. The force of cruisers and destroyers under her control had been swatted aside with relative ease. Her air compliment destroyed by Seafires before they could even get into the air. The imps that served as her garrison force wiped out.

"Don't think my comrade here won't kill you in a heartbeat." Kentucky said mildly, nodding to the big Russian battleship. The only reason you are still alive is that you might be useful. I would have no problem letting her pump a few HE rounds into you and then letting her and the other girls pick you apart for salvage. Soyuz here is in the market for high grade steel plate. But maybe you're more useful alive than dead. We need a base of operations. This atoll is in a good spot, convenient and yet discreet. So you can run the place for us and keep quiet or we give you a 16" lobotomy and run things without you."

The Princess contemplated her options. There were only 13 of them but there was one thing she needed to know.

"How did you get past my IFF?"

Kentucky chuckled as Hawaii and Leviathan now escorted their Ace n the hole onto the island. "We have a patron who has been pretty good to us. Even helped us bring back Newark and Hawke when we thought they weren't developed enough to form in this world. She's the one who suggested it might be worth the effort not to kill you."

Anchorage Princess' eyes went wide as she recognized one of the senior members of the Council of the Abyss.

"Surprised to see me?" She regarded Anchorage Princess with amusement. "I suppose you are wondering 'why.' It's very simple: This is a war for survival and I plan to win. With you or on you, it's your choice."

Anchorage Princess now knew that she had no choice. If she submitted, she would live, if not, then she would die.

"How may I serve our cause?"

The histories of these girls sheds some light on how they might be able to form a presence without being completed or even receiving an equipping crew. (Hawaii is uncertain. She may have had crew assigned for her fitting out. That would suggest she could be summoned normally as say Graf Zeppelin.) And why they would be less than enthused about taking orders from their respective governments.

USS Kentucky BB-66: March 7, 1942- February, 1959. Laid down, suspended, restarted, stopped , restarted... stopped.... cannibalized, scrapped.
USS Hawaii CB-3: December 20, 1943- January, 1960. Laid down, launched, fitting out, cancelled, studied, scrapped.
USS Newark CL-108: January 17, 1944- April, 1949. Laid down, cancelled, launched, used for under water explosion tests, scrapped.
HMS Leviathan R97: October 18, 1943- May, 1968. Laid down, launched, suspended, used as an accommodations hulk, stripped for parts, scrapped.
HMS Hawke 27: July 1, 1943- 1947. Laid down, cancelled, scrapped on the slipway.
HMS Jutland: August 11, 1944 -1957. Laid down, launched, deferred for possible completion later, used for trials, scrapped.
HMS Oudenarde: October 12, 1944- 1950s. Laid down, launched (1945), deferred for possible completion later, scrapped.
HMS Albuera: September 16, 1943- 1950s. Laid down, launched (1945),deferred for possible completion later, scrapped.
HMS Namur : April 29, 1944 -1951. Laid down, deferred for possible completion later, scrapped.
KMS Lutzow: August 2, 1937- 1960. Laid down, launched, sold, fought, sunk, raised, repaired but still not completed, fought, used for training and as a barracks, scrapped.
Sovetsky Soyuz: July 15, 1938- April, 1949. Laid down, lightly damaged, scrapped. (Only Stalin's will kept her from being scrapped earlier.)
Izmail: December 19, 1912- 1931. Laid down, studed, planned for conversion to Aircraft Carrier, not funded (By will of the Soviet Army.), scrapped.
L'Aventurier: 1939-1971. Laid down, launched, used as a testing hulk, scrapped.

They could be joined by USS Reprisal CV-35. another ship started, declared excess, suggested for completion, played with, and discarded.

So, a cadre of shipgirls that didn't have their full potential realized, forgotten after they were scrapped on the the docks of where they were built. "The Ghosts"?

Now I'm imagining the top brass sending them to dangerous missions, where death is seemingly certain.

I was thinking it might be amusing to crossover my current guilty pleasure involving ships with an older guilty pleasure involving ships.

In the past three years, the world has twice been rocked with revelations concerning the existence of things they thought impossible; first in mid-2012, with the "Hawaii incident" and again in late 2014, with the arrival of the Abyssals. In both cases, Hawaii has borne the brunt of the damage, but in this latter case they have successfully summoned several USN shipgirls and created a buffer between the Abyssals and the islands.

But they're still cut off from the mainland, and resources are dwindling. It's time to attempt some LSC and hopefully get some ships strong enough to punch a path through to San Diego. But again... resources are low, so to fill in the gaps, they decided to use some classified materials recovered after the Hawaii Incident.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the shipgirl they get is a bit... different from the usual, and is rather understandably defensive towards these 'natives'.

Well, she personally doesn't have one, having been sunk by the missile destroyer USS John Paul Jones about halfway through the movie. However, if they summoned the alien fleet's flagship (the one with the red lights and the shield generator) some personal conflicts might arise. XD

Ah a Regent Stinger; very nasty foe. Bonus points if a later summoning succeeds in getting the three DDGs from the 'Hawaii Incident' as well: JDS Myoko, USS Sampson, and USS John Paul Jones. Something tells me that at first depending on which on it is, that a brawl might erupt. However something tells me that this Regent Stinger probably won't go picking a fight with Missouri mainly because well she did go nose-to-nose with the Alien Flagship and kicked it's ass, then again when you have nine 16in/50 caliber Mark 7 Naval Rifles that is to be expected.
 

Kanmusu Bachelorette: Tenryuu Edition​
To think it all started with a set of permission slips needing to be signed by a 'parent or guardian' for the Destroyer line girls normal school field trip, for most Destroyers that meant going straight to the Admiral, for Des Div 6? Their first instinct was Tenryuu and 'unfortunately' for the poor Light Cruiser there were enough shipgirls around to here Tatsuta's teasing comment about how Tenryuu's charges see her that the little 'fact' spread throughout the base leading to shenanigans that could only be described as DESS!

From hijinks filled blind dates to nervous base servicemen to male celebrities, Tenryuu was thrown into a typhoon of romance that would find her starring in Japan's first Kanmusu Bachelorette T.V. program, will the competing men be both badass enough for her while having all the qualities she admittedly does look for in a father for the Akatsuki sisters? Will secret talents that she was hiding be exposed on international television? Will Ashigara hijack the show for her own troubled love life? Will Kongou hijack the show to finally get her Teitoku to accept her BURNING LOVE? Will Hiei and Isokaze poison the crew with their cooking?

Thought and improvements?
