Is Randgriz Burning? (Valkyria Chronicles)

That's about what I've thought. Considering the vast territory covered by the Empire and it being an empire in the first place (lotta conquering has to go in before you get that badge), there's going to be a lot of cross pollination, but still many pockets of different primary languages and cultures.

I always imagined Jaeger and Fhiraldians sounding Hungarian, Gregor and Maxi as Prussians, Selvie a bit more Austrian. Doesn't particularly matter, since I'm generally not going to type dialects out in dialogue since that just gets messy, but there would be a standard Imperial language, and it's probably close enough in relation to Gallian that it sounds odd, but understandable.

Interesting thing is that it's stated in the VC1 Encyclopedia that the Empire was formed less through conquest and more through marriages and alliances

VC1 Encyclopedia said:
The Industrial Revolution that occurred when ragnite was discovered as a useful energy source saw the nations of eastern Europa, pioneers in machine technology, rise to power. Already tightly bound by a network of marriages amongst their royalty, these nations now joined hands in a formal international alliance.

That's about as much as we know, the Emperor apparently enjoys nearly unlimited authority, but there's also an Imperial Parliament, plus yes I assume a bunch of countries closer to the Federation border are occupied territories (Gallia itself had been conquered and occupied up until the turn of the century I think). Plus then there's the question of overseas colonies, etc, etc, now we're talking stuff that's out of scope of the rp.

Just like Europe was tightly bound by a network of marriages amongst their royalty pre-WWI?

Kidding aside, you're right, I had forgotten just how closely they ripped off history. With its position as not!Germany the road to empire via mostly political unification and attacking other people to forge the ties that bind makes perfect sense. You still have a lot of conquered territory on the edges (Fhirald, etc) that extend the empire, but the main body would be Imp to the core. Thanks for the quote!

With the way VC's been shaped up I'm getting the impression there is no New World equivalent in VC (unless there is and that they've simply gone full Isolationist mode as America attempted to IRL) and thus not really a Pacific Ocean, which is weird considering the Atlantic Ocean seemingly does exist (judging by the Federation's full name).

The Calamity...

I don't see why there couldn't be other continents outside of Europa. We never hear about their version of Japan, yet we know Shin from VC3 is from there. It could very well be that overseas powers simply see this as a Europan conflict and are keeping out of it. Or maybe they are involved, just as colonial troops. Maybe there is much more of a global war going on but we don't hear about it because the VC games take place in Gallia when their main concerns are an Imperial invasion and subsequent civil war.

It just makes things more interesting for various fan works IMO.

VC1: Zaka, Cezary, Nils, Ambassador Townsend, and various Imperial soldiers
VC2: Helmut

Okay, only one voice in VC2, still though. Quite a few people in the VCverse sound like Steve Blum. I refuse it to be coincidence. :p
Hell, the first Imperial troop with dialogue (the one who taunts Isara in the opening) is also Steve Blum.

Burk is going to take the forms to the battalion quartermaster and see about getting Lutzow and her crew what they need to get the tank into something resembling fighting shape. What would be the roll for that?

Don't forget the cushions!

Also, I am definitely seeing contrasts between Hahnenfuss and Lutzow; one still has her pride but rather keeps her history under lock and key, while the other is a turncoat who is rather open to her past.

Well, it helps that the circumstances which lead both of them to defect to Gallia are vastly different.

The former had to run away from her political opponents who were out for her blood and the other merely wanted to get away from all the bloodshed... which eventually followed her there by sheer coincidence.

Omw home, hopefully the night air kills this headache.

Just checking, GM post to move Compton along and DC for Burk's supply run, anything else people need?
