In The Grimdark of Fanfiction -40k

I feel like there's a link missing though...

Chaos cults do horrible things (because they are Chaos)
Jews are being accused of doing horrible things.

But unless there's something linking Jews and Chaos cults beyond that, I feel like it's reaching.
Chaos cults are generally rather in your face which is the opposite of a secret conspiracy.

It matters on the portrayal. I object to a specific set of tropes, not to the existence of cults in general.
But said cults do pretty much the same thing chaos cults do and are accused and oppressed the same way. Whats the difference?

Chaos cults are generally rather in your face which is the opposite of a secret conspiracy.
Not always. There are plenty that do the secret conspiracy angle.

I don't particularly feel the need to educate you on the last fifteen hundred years of anti-Semitic stereotyping.
huh? I was just asking a question about whether this opinion of yours applies to other fiction that also has cults that do chaos cult things and are treated the same way or have the heroic hero beat them cause blood (royal blood or blood of righteous people can be inserted here) or worshipping proper god (insert Christianity here) and so on.

Like personally, I don't see the difference going by your own logic.

Are there any WH40k works not about battling with whoever is the enemy of the week, but about, say, S&R ops or relief efforts?

There are mentions in the fluff but 40k is an action/war focused setting so such things are not the main focus of stories.

The SOB (sisters of battle) non combat branches do medical work for both soldiers and civilians and do relief efforts.

From SB:

So yeah. As I said, I'm curious if this applies to other fictions that have cults or not.
It does. But also does to cults that do real shit in real life so I don't see the point?

Like, the whole thing behind the persecution was that "Jews are evil and part of something evil" (and that they were numerous enough to be noticiable but small enough to be easy to lay the balme on) so obviously when it is actually true that a group (in this case Chaos worshippers) does those things it will fit.

Also, this is the same for all "different groups", not just jews. It goes for protestants at the time, for christians themselves in many parts of the world, etc.
Saying that a (relatively) small group of different people are EVULZ and trying to take over the city/country/world while doing EVULZ stuff and replacing your beliefs and culture with their own is par the course for humanity even today.
What's the blood libel, Alex?
Something jews don't do? Though my question was because the statement @Space Penguin had shared was
Anyway, a question to comradepitrovsky I saw you say that you equate cultists of 40k to jews
Which could have other, ah, interpretations.

Oooookaaay.

Can we all just... take a step back, here? And stop comparing Jews to Chaos? Please?

Well, my entire point is that they don't compare so I guess I agree with you?

Let's talk about crossovers instead!

Anything good you wanna share?
Honestly, not a ton. Not many people write half-decent 40k fiction, let alone crossovers.

That being said, I'll happily listen to your recs.

The good crossovers I can think of tend to be dead.

There was a decent ST:TNG one on ff.net that died just as it started getting juicy.

There's Sparks on the Edge, over on SB, which has some seriously vitriolic burn at FASAnomics, since it's a Battletech cross.

I read the first one if you are talking about what I think you are talking (Battlebarge ends up in the past and the Enterprise finds them inside the Romulan DMZ?)

The second I know of but it's like, super dead right?

Thats how I see it too. But comradepitrovsky seems to disagree and see this only applying to 40k for some reason. By his own logic and as you say, it applies to all cults. And he dislikes this in 40k and seems to want it gone, so the same should be done for other fictions as well.

Though cults in 40k are not an ethnic thing, you can have chaos cults for planets on other side of the galaxy from each other whose people have never interacted with each other.

Well I can assure I was not making any interpretations, just questions based on what he posted. Nothing more.

Anyway, I personally have not seen any great crossovers lately though then again, I don't much read 40k fanfics anymore.

I got an idea.

Earth is in 40k space.

I'm thinking of maybe the Dark Eldar, or the Slaugth, attack Earth first. Maybe the Slaugth. The Dark Eldar may pull in comparisms to the fair folk, but then there's always the problems of having a webway gate close by to earth, that can't be closed.

Let's start at the kuiper belt. The astronomers are the first to see it. After all, the Slaugth ship has already scouted the place, and know Earth has no way of fighting back. The ship passes through the solar system, slowly. It takes them about a week to do so. The feeling on earth is one of tension, fear, anticipation, excitement, and all the other feelings you get when you find out you're not alone in the universe.

There is some disgust, when the ship comes into orbit, and people see Slaugth technology for the first time.

They send out greetings. Radio beams and signals are sent to the ship, in greetings. The Slaugth only reply, telling them to surrender.

There is horror, and confusion. Then the bombardment starts. The military is smashed. Including the nuclear submarines.

The Slaugth then begin to land, and grab people for feeding, shown on live television. The world is horrified. The surviving military try to fight them off, but then are taken down by Slaught tech weapons. With lack of heavy armour, and not even access to mortars - remember, they bombarded the bases. That means no tanks and artillery. - they are helpless.

Occupation by the Slaugth goes on for 2 years, as the public feedings go on and on. The Slaught are seemingly sadistic, forcing men and women to watch as their children are fed on first, then forced to watch each other. Parents watch their children devoured. Wives see their husbands killed. Husbands see their wives eaten alive. All manner of cruelties are exercised. Mass executions are the norm. Those who displease the Slaugth, are, without an exception, converted via a slow and torturous process into one of their techno-organic technology, men, women, and children, all slowly transformed screaming into abominations.

Tribute is extracted, no matter the cost. Precious metals, slaves, manufactured machine parts, all countries have to pay, or be subject to bombardment. People starve and sicken as resources meant for food and medicine are not transferred to industry. People riot, or grumble, as their lives become worse and worse. And as the days pass, more and more resources are lost. Forests are cut down. Cities are empty. Lakes and rivers become polluted, filthy bogs. The skies are covered in smog.

There is resistance, but the punishment for collaboration is horrid. Families and friends of known resistance fighters disappear and are never seen again. Where the resistance fighters are seen, bombardment occurs. Armies of eye-searing drones of shining metal and meaty tendrils are sent to take down the fighters. The nations of the world are forced to fight down the only people fighting for them, under threat of death.

The situation is bleak. There is no way to shoot down the Slaught ship in orbit. There is no industrialized military machine to smash apart terrestrial forces. All electronics and satellites are analyzed and watched by the aliens. The majority of leaders have been killed, intimidated, or converted by the invaders. There is no discernible way for Earth to fight back.

Out at the edge of the solar system, a fleet of ships fleeing Hive Fleet Kraken exit Warp space....

Ok then.
My idea is for a crossover between Warhammer 40k/Fantasy Battles and the Fire Emblem franchise, so whoever picks this up must know a lot about both works of fiction.

The story begins with a guy from our world. This guy (his name should be something not outlandish but neither too normal) has played all the games of the Fire Emblem series (his personal favorite is Fates) and owns a nice Imperial Guard army of miniatures from 40k.

He's plucked by ROB ( who in this fic is not at all human-like like in other fics or quests, but rather an unfathomable and unknowable entity), that doesn't even deign to speak with our dear protagonist (for this presentation, let's call him John Smith) before shoving something inside his chest and sending him in the Fire Emblem:Fates Universe, where he will eventually be found by the Nohrian royal family.

But where other OCs and SIs usually start their journey with nothing more than the clothes on their backs, their wits and knowledge of canon our main character has a few... additional gifts, shall we say.

Remember the "something" that ROB shoved inside him at the beginning? Well, turns out that that were a pair of entities. Namely Khaela Mensha Khaine, the Lord of Murder and Bloody-Handed God of the Eldar/Elves; and Khorne, Chaos God of blood, war, and hatred.

The both of them were weakened by ROB before being locked inside John's soul (though they are still more than powerful enough to completely raze every single kingdom on the face of the world before destroying said world and finally stomp Naga into the nearest curb if they ever got out), so that Khorne, who was way more powerful than Khaine, is now dead even with him in terms of pure power.

The gifts where forged by ROB using a bit of the essence of both gods and that Smith will find on his person once he awakens. Around his neck, fused with his own skin, he will find a Brass Collar, created with Khorne's own essence. On his body, a mighty armor that would make even the greatest of Chaos Warriors weep in utter envy. In his right hand the Widowmaker, the Sword that the first Phoenix King Aenaerion wielded during the Great Catastrophe. And last but not least, in his left hand a mighty axe, the favorite weapon of the Blood God.

And it doesn't stop here. Turns out that having the most violent personifications of War in the history of fiction riding shotgun with him has a few perks. For example, John will discover to his amazement (and the chagrin of a few bandits) that despite having never ever used a weapon before in his life he is suddenly very, very good at murdering the shit out of everything that has a pulse. Or that his body looked like it was treated with the Ernskin Serum.

But here's the kicker. Smith will quickly discover that despite being so good at fighting, for the love of his own skin he must stay as far from the battlefield as he possibly can. You see, the two Gods are inside a "cage" that is situated inside his own soul. Said cage is indestructible from the inside and so their only shot at freedom is to corrupt him using the violence and blooshed of battle to convince him to open the cage and freeing them. And if that happens......
Game Over.
The pairing must be OCxFem!CorrinxAzura.

And lastly the POWs must be third person only.
Thoughts and comments?
