[X] On the Road Again: Mobility is key to Survivability! In the end you may decided that staying here just isn't viable, luckily you have a car… or had, that is, you should try and fix that (Reward, functioning Car, increased number of actions per day, some actions take less time)

[X] Is Anybody out there?: You can't possibly be the only survivor… can you? You should probably see if there's anyone else around, there'sstrength in numbers afterall. (Success chance ???, Reward, Gain survivors, More manpower, more actions become available, some actions take less time, Be careful they may not be friendly.)

Let's do a tally shall we?

EDIT: Wow, finding a water source has the most votes and fixing the car has the least, don't know why but I thought rebuilding the house would be in last place.

You guys do know that fixing the house is gonna limit you to two options until you either finish fixing it, or get more people?

Well the car could also speed up certain actions I guess.

Guys, the house is going to lock out an action for a week and we have food and water stocked for a while, right now we need actions more than supplies.

Okay can I get a tally, I have some free time this week, so I'll try to write another update.

Sure thing boss.

EDIT: So finding water and fixing the house are happening, you really should have specified up-front how long a turn was, but now we have a tie between:
- building a campfire, which we don't need right now.
- finding our neighbors, which will get us more people and shorten action time
- fixing the car, which will shorten action time and get us more actions

Alright, so its been awhile.

But i did say my schedule would be inconsistent as all fuck for months at a time.

At anyrate, I've acknowledged the vote, and if everything goes well i should be able to get something out sometime this weekend.

Turn 1 Results
It's update time!

Well more like results time.

I'll get your next bout of choices out as soon as i can.

XXXXXXX

Day 1: Results

Aqua Vitae: You have plenty of bottled water, but that can't last forever, Gotta find a new source of water, is there any ground water in this area, a river? A pond? Anything? (Success chance ???: Reward, Find Stable water supply)

Rolled: 80

Your priority is finding a stable source of water. This… went pretty well all things considered, mostly because you remembered that there was a small pond roughly a block and a half from your home, it certainly isn't clean water… but you can filter and boil it to clean it out… It's probably gonna become radioactive when the fallout comes down, but so is everything, you'll just have to deal with it.

A Guy's Gotta Eat: Constructing a cooking area, it ain't much, but a campfire can cook most can goods just fine. (Reward: Regain the ability to cook food.)

Making a campfire was one of the most basic survival skills, you knew how to do it before you went through basic survival training in the military. And with the various bits of wood lying around from shattered houses, and a few repurposed metal rods and rocks you got yourself a nice little camp fire with a spit and everything.

Home is where you won't get brutally murdered: Your home is kinda ruined… you might want to fix that. (Time 1 week, Reward, home is no longer a pile of rubble.)
Your house… kind of a wreck, the windows are blown out, and parts of the ceiling seems to have collapsed on the second floor. Shelter is gonna be vital in the coming days… So it's probably a good idea to get started on fixing yours.

This is gonna take a while.

Random Event Roll: 15

Rad-Lightning!

After a long day of work, and internal and not so internal psychological break-downs. You could've used a good night's sleep. Lucky for you your bedroom was mostly intact, and you eventually managed something resembling sleep…

Only to be awoken by a thunderous crash and flash of neon green light.

Apparently lightning just struck right outside what used to be your window… not gonna be sleeping well after that.
By the time morning comes your beginning to feel the effects of radiation sickness, and are forced to use rad-away to remain functional

Result: Major Radiation Exposure, Sleep deprivation. -1 Rad-away

Radiation counter +10

XXXXXXXXX

Author's note:

So Yeah random events are a thing, While I show rolls for choice outcomes and random events themselves the roll for if they happen or not is secret.

Your Radiation counter represents the amount of radiation damage and radioactive material currently within your body, and has a few functions affecting your chance of Mutation or Ghoulification in response to rad exposure, and can affect the potential stats and traits of your descendants, in both good and bad ways.

At any rate i am legitimately sorry these updates are taking so long, but life's a bitch sometimes.

I'll try to get the next turn out within the next couple of days.

Radiation Explained
So at what level do we have to really worry for radiation levels?

Every 10 points in rads adds -2 to every ghoulification or mutation roll.

Major exposure requires shit like being near a rad lightning strike or a leaking industrial fission reactor for more than a couple of seconds.

Minor exposure is worth 1 point, and comes from eating or drinking mildly radiated material.

Cataclysmic exposure is being at ground zero of a fission bomb or being struck by rad lightning and inevitably means death or ghoulification.

So it doesn't get really significant until you get to 50.

If you get to 100 every single major exposure would have a 50/50 of ghoulification or death by radiation poisoning.

radiation counters will drop overtime provided you don't keep exposing yourself to more.

Radaway can also drop it by ten points. (I already accounted for that.)

It should be noted that radiation is intended to be a significant threat in the first 2-3 generations, but will decrease in severity as the game goes on and The fallout disperses and the population slowly adapts greater resistance to it.
