On Naruto failing three times. That's easy enough to explain. If you fail an exam, you fet to redo it, say, a week later. If you fail a second time, you aee given one last chance. It leaves the question of why the others were tskjng the exam with him, yes, but he might have tried to pass it prematurely.

You can not Persuade this to happen.

It is not going to happen.

I said it before: Nasuverse Mechanics are off the table.

That's not how the universe works. This is not a Fate thread. (hmm. I should add that to the Tags.)
Ah, sorry, I probably wasn't explaining clearly. I'm not saying "literally be Archer from nasuverse". I am saying "produce effects functionally similar to Archer's ability". But ok, sure, I'll drop it.

Um, although the name would seem to indicate that this is a core gamer ability, this is not actually the case. The ability to create pocket dimensions like that was a common ability in the canon universe, as evidenced by the abilities of others to both generate and break out of said dimensions.

We really shouldn't get ID Create unless we encounter a dimensional ability that does something similar...

[X] Preparing for First Major Assignment

Before I get cries of, "But Hmmaster, we need all that time to get really strong!" let me explain my reasoning.

Gamer fics tend to die. I'm not saying that this particular QM will allow that to happen. But Gamer fics inevitably run into the problem of ridiculously strong children, so strong that they could beat all mid-level and some high-level opponents. It's not fun reading about an ten year old who could reasonably destroy someone like Deidara or Kisame in a fight removed from author fiat.

When you begin at a really young age, then you get all that time before canon begins, before anything interesting happens, to train your amazing Gamer skills to the point where all believability flies out the window.

However, if you start post Academy, then you get to scale Hinata as the plot revolves around her to the point where, when the fourth war comes around, she's S-class at 15-16 and it doesn't seem forced to have her struggle. If you start pre-Academy, then you get literally twice as long to train. By all rights, she should be able to one-shot Edo Tensei fighters by that point and do reasonable damage against Madara, if not win.

(All of that is hypothetically speaking that the Fourth War still happens. Just using it as an example of how starting so early on Naruto Gamer fics tends to lead to no tension and fic death).

Or we could just timeskip-monthly-plan our way through the academy with a child training malus? It's up to the GM to prevent us from becoming literally physical gods, and that's not such a hard job.

Eh, maybe. I also like the idea of Hinata coming out of the Academy with a certain skillset and then suddenly getting thrust upon with all this. We don't have to slog through several updates of reading about her Gamer training while nothing of real interest happens outside of it because the rest of the kids are learning flower arranging.

Good point, also we don't have to suffer through arguments of why we should social link everyone and bring up their skills so they would be ready for future threats.

We can shift those arguments to when Hinata and her team are on their first major mission, so that her team scales as well. I mean, that only makes sense. I'd honestly like to see Kiba and Shino be the teammates as in canon and see what a group of players could help create out of them, but no one else. We have to think in character, so the only person to give a strong argument toward creating a party with is Naruto, alongside her team. Which is acceptable, but I'd prefer a story focused on Team 8 for a change.

Hm, since no major events to affect in first 3 years really, academy would be mostly friendshipping.

[X] Just graduating Academy

I think the 1-2 months before exams is enough!
(though it is such a cliche in naruto fics)

Self-augmentation Sasori (THE PAIN) style or trying Tsunade could be intersting, and then there's the possibility of saving lives meshing with who Hinata is.

[X] Archer

But not only did we have little archers in Naruto, tracking team seems better suited for sniping than healing (since taking time to track down the bleeders seems....Deadly to them).

Also, don't want to be inferior Neji.

Pairing with that,

[X] Woodcraft (Beginning Skill: Woodcarving)

as bows require more individual customization than metal heads for arrows, and I assume we won't use much armor.

[X] Tell Him

Finally, again, for avoidance of cliche.
Even if you were in the correct timeframe, what would you do? What COULD you do?
We could wander in and loot uchiha corpses for eyes die.

Hmm. I'm not sure yet about the tone of this quest. Serious drama? Humor and adventure? The premise would indicate the latter, but zero_traveler's responses thus far lean towards the former. o_O

1. Graduation is a nice place to get started. New teammates, a fresh start, etc.
2. Hyuuga archer! We shall be the scrubbiest of scrubs.
3. I'm fine with Mining and Woodcraft--both would provide an outlet for weird SV engineering ideas. And perhaps Hinata could make her own bows/arrows in the future.

@zero_traveler, could we... not have the party system allow people to train like we will? Because that requires extra spreadsheets and tedium and explaining and babysitting and basically turns the Gamer into the Trainer...

Hm, though now that I think about it, @zero_traveler : If we pick medic, will we get hospital drama ala House or such as opposed to combat to make things exciting?

Hmmaster makes a good point. However, I think it might be a good idea to start a little earlier. It'll give us time to sort stuff out before we get in any major fights. Suddenly becoming a Gamer is probably going to be messing with our head enough without having to worry about a potential serious threat in our near future as well.

At least this way we are more likely to get help with figuring everything out.

I like having the freedom to effect our characters defining attitudes and friends which means the earlier we can effect the better. Besides I don't really like Shino or Kiba at all they don't intrest me at all and I would desperately like to get any teammate that isn't them. Besides gamer's require ramp time.

Ramping up to mess with invasion, or something else as well @Ixe ?

I'm not sure this third Hokage dude is worth being stuck in class for. How important can he be, anyway?

That aside :p, I can totally understand wanting different teammates. Though, if we could graduate early - really so - then we might get OCs.

Graduating early sounds like it could be fun. Although I'm all for letting the third die I always liked Tsundae better any way. I'm also curious as to what Neji's attitude would be towards us if we graduated early.

I do hope we can still work with Shino (who remains a favorite of mine), but canon change-up time is important~!
