A @hugh_donnetono production. Co-created by @Shalmoa , and with special thanks to @Terrabrand for some vital last-minute balancing assistance. I apologize in advance.
So! We've all been here before. Strange goings-on in a once-peaceful town. Rumors starting to spread, people actin' sus, strange noises at night, maybe a few dead bodies turning up... It's pretty clear what's going on! It's the dang mafia once again, invading yet another poor innocent village! We all know how this works - town will have to work together to sus out the scum among them, while the mafia works to undermine them from within. Time to start pointing them fingers! And I'm sure it will definitely be that simple.
Rules:
Mafia is a Game.
Talk about the game inside the game. While the game's running, don't talk about the game outside of GM-designated places. No exceptions.
Do not edit posts. No exceptions.
Post only cleartext messages.Don't use hidden, illegible, or coded messages.
Paraphrase all content from QuickTopicsFlask Threads and nope, just Host PMs, le sigh. Don't directly quote from any.
Post only when posting's allowed. Keep posting in this thread to Day Phase, and only post if alive. Don't post during the Night Phase, or after elimination.
As a special exception, all players get one short Death Post of zero game value after elimination, made before the end of the next Phase.
Post at least five times during every Day Phase.
If extenuating circumstances apply, notify your Host so arrangements can be made.
Play the Game, not the Metagame. Judging a player's actions in the context of previous games is fine, but refrain from directly predicting or citing the GM's actions as evidence.
Play to win. This improves both your own experience and the experience of your peers.
Rules and Mechanics may be amended at any point in the game to fix game-breaking issues. Hosts will clearly announce any such changes, unless doing so would compromise the game.
Game-specific Rules:
Setup type: closed. This means no access to obs chat after you die, guys!
The game is separated into Day and Night Phases.
Day Phase lasts 72 hours, starting at 7 PM and ending at 7 PM Eastern time.
Night Phase lasts 42 hours, starting at 7 PM and ending at 1 PM.
Day voting: Plurality, no hammer.
Vote Noyeet, No Vote, or Sleep if you don't want anyone to die that day.
Bastard: Inarguably Yes.
If an action for the night phase has not been submitted by the deadline, the default is taking no action.
If activity requirements are not met for a day phase, a request for replacement will be sent. If no replacement has been found and activity requirements go unmet for a second day phase, the slot will be modkilled.
Tied votes will be resolved as one of the players with the most votes being killed at random.
Roles will be distributed randomly, etc.
Player count: 15 exactly. No more, no less.
Warnings to emphasize:
This game is Bastard. Do not join if you're not okay with a mild to moderate level of getting fucked with by the gm.
This game is fully closed! That means dead players do not get access to obs chat. This feels like it shouldn't need reiterating, but I got like three people asking for obs after they died in my last game so I'm calling even more attention to it.
Singups are now closed.
@NinetyNineLies - Perfectly Normal Miller, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town. Perfectly Normally Nightkilled night 1.
@-Rosen@Seven - Perfectly Normal Vanilla, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town. Voted out day 4.
Apologies for the delay, I may have mildly underestimated how much mental bandwidth it would take to start the new semester. Roles have now been sent out; the game will be scheduled to begin once I receive confirmations from everyone.
And so - as everyone knew they would - the townsfolk convene! Who among them are true, and who are the insidious imposters and infiltrators??? It's time to find out, as usual. Let's get this perfectly normal game started!
The wincon for all players is "You win when you or your faction can no longer be eliminated by any other faction, or you meet any specified conditions on your role card. In the latter case, the game may not end."
After a long day of quiet suspicion and occasional heated argument between the town's various denizens, one person in particular is singled out and, as is tradition, voted off the proverbial island.
(there is no literal island)
(just a normal town)
@Scia has been Perfectly Normally Exiled! Her role was Perfectly Normal Backup, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town!
Alas, it seems a member of the Town has been the subject of the first yeet. This, too, is perfectly normal, unfortunately.
Night One begins now, and will end in
, after which there will be a 6-hour twilight period for me to deal with night actions before Day Two begins.
After an... interesting night (more of those odd noises, mostly, though maybe more than that for some...), town reconvenes to continue their attempts to sus out the hostile forces. However, as was sadly fully expected - their number is one less than the day before. Investigating the local flour mill reveals why.
@NinetyNineLies has been Perfectly Normally Nightkilled! His role was Perfectly Normal Miller, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town.
After a quiet day with a variety of interesting claims and some perfectly healthy paranoia - some might even say not enough! - a consensus is reached at the very last second, which is also perfectly normal. And once again, as per the perfectly normal tradition, one person has been singled out and exiled, sentenced to leave on the evening bus.
(the evening bus is not a reference to anything)
(there is no dungeon full of exiled people)
(just a normal town)
@RoachTV has been Perfectly Normally Exiled! His role was Perfectly Normal Coroner, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town!
Night Two begins now, and will end in
, after which there will be a 6-hour twilight period for night action resolution before Day Three begins.
