Hugh's Perfectly Normal Mafia Game Where Nothing Weird Happens Whatsoever

DAWN OF THE FINAL DAY
The sun rises. The birds sing. Someone died in the night.

All Perfectly Normal.

@LostDeviljho has been Perfectly Normally Nightkilled. They were Perfectly Normal Deprogrammer, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town.

@Shadell
@Walker
@Zaealix

The three remaining citizens gather one last perfectly normal time. With suspicions running higher than ever, they may not want to wait the full day... If you wish to end the madness, you may include [x] Hammer in your vote. If a strict majority bandwagon is achieved, and all votes on it are [x] Hammer votes, the Day will immediately end.

In all likelihood, this will be the final day.

Game End
After one last perfectly normal day, the remaining townsfolk quiet with anticipation, one particular member of the final three is singled out, perfectly normally.

He doesn't exactly go quietly, however.

Whipping off what you had all assumed was just a comically oversized jacket to reveal a comically oversized person underneath, unwilling to just let himself be pushed aside when he's this close, the huge cyborg attacks! His cybernetic augmentations make his strength incredible and his body indestructible, and it seems like there may be no hope of defeating him - but when you know he's coming instead of getting snuck up on in the middle of the night, he suddenly seems much less unstoppable. Zaealix's Perfectly Normal FBI Combat Training allows him to go up against the brute in hand-to-hand without being immediately slaughtered, and Shadell's Perfectly Normal Mystical Power Over the Fabric of Space allows her to distract and harry him from a distance! Working together, after a hard-fought battle, the last two perfectly normal townies are able to redirect their target into a Perfectly Normal Rocket, and launch him far off into the distance, away from the perfectly normal town! The last you see of him - is a twinkle in the sky.

@Walker, the Perfectly Normal Mafia's Perfectly Normal Strongman, has been perfectly normally exiled!

With the final member of the scum team gone, the game has ended in a victory for the Perfectly Normal Town!

The Perfectly Normal, Extremely Strong and Useful Role List!
The Perfectly Normal Town:
@Draxy
You are the Perfectly Normal Firefighter, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town!. You've always said an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, though, so you don't limit yourself to putting out fires that have already started.

Once per night, you may visit one player, locate any suspicious fire hazards in the vicinity, and remove them, unpriming that player for arson, and even saving them if they would go up in flames that night. To do so, dm me:

Clean [Player]

@LostDeviljho
You are the Perfectly Normal Deprogrammer, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town! As a licensed Psychologist and Therapist, you are an expert in talking people out of harmful or self-destructive thought patterns, and getting through to even the deeply brainwashed.

Once per night, you may visit one player. If their alignment has been altered, you return it to its original state. To take this action, dm me:

Deprogram [Player]

However, things may go badly for you if you try this on a Cult's Leader...
LDJ called there not being a cult the moment he subbed in just from looking at this role, which was mildly disappointing but funny :V

@ComiTurtle
You are the Perfectly Normal Ascetic, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town! Having sat under a tree meditating until you achieved enlightenment, you are immune to the base distractions of the physical world. I mean someone could still just kill you but anything else you'd just ignore.

Any non-kill night action that targets you will fail, giving no indication that it did so.

@NinetyNineLies
You are the Perfectly Normal Miller, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town! Why do Millers always get such a bad rap, anyway? You perform a valuable role in the town's economy and food production by running the grain mill! And how do you get repaid? Red checks! There's no justice in the world.

Your alignment counts as "mafia" to investigative checks.

This does also mean that you cannot be abducted by aliens, though. So that's nice at least.
Appropriate lol. Disappointed 99 never got to corroborate Nictis's alien claims though.

@Nictis
You are the Perfectly Normal Alienist, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town! Oh yeah, you've got this all figured out, you're basically Fox Mulder. What is it? Aliens. Every time. You've got one of those boards with all the thumbtacks and string right over here... Now, if only your obsession with aliens didn't get people thinking you were one. At the very least, your warped worldview makes it way harder to subvert you through words, and your tinfoil hat protects you from all other forms of insidious mind control.

Your alignment counts as "alien" to investigative checks. You cannot be cult recruited.
God this was fun to write flavor for. Nic submitted an action every night even though their role had no actions and I just had a field day with it XD

@Shadell
You are the Perfectly Normal Nexus, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town! With your mystical power to distort space around you, you can throw off anyone who tries to mess with you at night with ease. You're not strong enough to stop anyone who wants to go beyond "messing with you", though...

Once per night, you may visit one other player. Any action that would target you instead targets them. This does not work on nightkills. To take this action, dm me:

Nexus to [Player]
You still don't know where god lives :V

@Scia
You are the Perfectly Normal Backup, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town! With your parahuman power to copy someone's form and abilities, you can make sure town doesn't lose access to its heavy hitters too quickly.

The first time a non-vanilla role aligned with the Perfectly Normal Town dies, you inherit their powers and rolecard.

@Zaealix
You are the Perfectly Normal FBI Agent, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town! You've been sent to this town to investigate some rumors for the higher-ups of suspicious activity, and have access to all of the FBI's files on the various high-profile individuals it's investigating. None of them would be able to avoid your attention for long...

Once per night, you may visit one player and determine whether or not they are a Person of Interest to the FBI. A Person of Interest is defined as a Serial Killer, an Arsonist, or a Cult Leader. If you investigate the same person twice, you determine which of those three they are, specifically. To take this action, dm me:

Investigate [Player]
Honestly I think this is a pretty fun twist on the normal FBI Agent role, might have to include something like it in a later game where it would actually do something. Also, paranoia about every single town-hostile 3p faction, which is nice :V

@RoachTV
You are the Perfectly Normal Coroner, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town! You are certainly just an average medical investigator who just gets very excited by learning about whatever new corpse lands on your table, and definitely not a secret vampire who subsists on the blood you can swipe from the recently deceased. Regardless of that, your, ah, examinations can occasionally be quite enlightening...

Once per night, you may visit one dead player and learn their real role and alignment. To do so, dm me:

Autopsy [Dead Player]
The speculation that Roach could actually revive players was especially hilarious to me because I knew I'd given him a flavor that would absolutely fit that XD

@Wies
You are the Perfectly Normal Spy, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town! You always have your ear to the ground, listening for the latest dirt on this town's criminal underbelly. You'll know what the bad guys are planning before the bodies hit the floor!

At the end of each night phase, you automatically learn who (if anyone) was targeted by a nightkill that night.
Hooooooooh boy, this role. As everyone else realized, the spy would in fact do something if, say, scum chose not to kill for a night. I realized this about five seconds after Wies had confirmed role reception, and it gave me a real fuckin headache. In the end, I made scum's nightkill mandatory to ensure this wouldn't break the point of the game.

@OriginalName
You are the Perfectly Normal Parity Vigilante, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town! Your powers are electrical, positively charged. Too weak to matter on their own, but when you team up with your negatively charged partner - well, things get shocking!

Once per night, you may visit any other player. If your target is also being visited by a second Parity Vigilante, you will be informed of this, and your target will be strongman killed. To take this action, dm me:

Parity Shoot [Player]
Of course there was no other parity vig :V rip

@Seven
You are a Perfectly Normal Vanilla, a member of the Perfectly Normal Town! You have no powers - you're just happy to be here.
-Rosen's initial reaction to receiving this role was so amazingly hilarious - especially from the irony that he outright did not believe me that his role was actually vanilla, even though his was actually the only role that wasn't a lie by omission 😂

The Perfectly Normal Mafia:
@Walker
You are the Perfectly Normal Strongman, a member of the Perfectly Normal Mafia! Your cybernetic augmentations leave you super strong and super tough. Nobody's gonna be able to stop you from getting things done!

As a member of the scum team, you may perform the factional kill. When you do, it is a strongman kill. To do so, dm me:

Kill [Player]

The scum kill flavor is Perfectly Normally Nightkilled.

In addition, you are immune to all hostile night actions, such as kills and cult recruitment, too powerful to be affected - except by your own faction's nightkill. Truly, the only thing capable of harming you would be the bitter sting of betrayal! You're sure you won't have to worry about that, though.
Also very fun to write flavor for, though mostly on the side of the people he killed :V

@Chiperninerm
You are the Perfectly Normal Ninja, a member of the Perfectly Normal Mafia! As a trained assassin, thief, and general purveyor of roguery, you move through the shadows, silent as the night, always ready with a sneaky trick or a clever misdirection.

As a member of the scum team, you may perform the factional kill. To do so, dm me:

Kill [Player]

The scum kill flavor is Perfectly Normally Nightkilled.

In addition to the nightkill, once per night you may also call upon your ninja training and various gadgets to lead some poor soul astray. You may visit any two players; any action performed by the first player that night will target the second instead of their intended target. However, you cannot target yourself, and this does not work on nightkills of any kind. To take this action, dm me:

Redirect [Player A] to [Player B]

No action you perform at night can be seen by Watchers, Trackers, or similar roles.

@Logos
You are a member of the Perfectly Normal Mafia - specifically, you are the Perfectly Normal Doctor, back for revenge! A being of pure dreams formed from the collective psyche of mankind, assuming the form of the platonic ideal of a doctor, and generally very extremely good at it! You can't even poison people this game! You are definitely a very townie doctor, for real this time. Everyone should definitely trust you, and sus that guy over there instead.

For the purposes of all investigative roles you appear as a Doctor without the ability to kill and aligned with the Perfectly Normal Town.

Once per night, you may perform one of the following actions:
- You may visit any player other than yourself and provide medical attention if it is needed, saving them from death - unless that death would be inflicted by the mafia's nightkill. Your target will only be informed of the attempt if medical intervention was necessary.
- You may visit any player; if that player would be investigated they will appear to be a member of the Perfectly Normal Mafia, with the ability to kill - because this of course is also doctoring! :thonk:
To do one of these, dm me:

Heal [Player] OR Frame [Player]

You may also perform scum's nightkill, and may do so in addition to your doctor action for the night. To do so, dm me:

Kill [Player]

The scum kill flavor is Perfectly Normally Nightkilled.
Nobody even mentioned that I just outright copied this exact role from ephemeral lol. The night action flavor I gave logos was specifically basically copy-pasted from the flavor I got from comi in that game, too :V

As everyone has already surmised, this game was actually mountainous lol. Arguably less an actual setup and more a prank I got to play on 15 people. :V

I made sure to go whole-hog though! Everyone gets a unique flavor, a unique power that seems at least plausibly useful. Lots of 3rd party paranoia on both teams, responses to any submitted night action even if your role doesn't have any, and roles chosen in a way that their powers do work, they just won't ever do anything. I certainly had fun at least! And I hope everyone else got to have at least a decent time. Legitimately, much appreciation to @Shalmoa for helping come up with enough perfectly non-interacting roles, and @Terrabrand for sanity-checking everything. (I love that I'm pretty sure I got through the whole thing without ever telling an outright falsehood in a dm post - only ever lies by omission, or sarcastic confessions.)

Thank you for joining me for this perfectly normal game!

I promise I will never do this again 😂

Awards!
This, however, I will absolutely do again!

@Nictis gets the It's Real, I Swear! award, for submitting a different night action every night as the Alienist. I got to write some really fun flavor this game, and that was some of my favorite. :V

@Logos gets the Perfectly Normal Indeed award for guessing the twist to the setup within hours of receiving their role, before the game had even started or they had even been added to scum chat.

@Seven gets the ...Um! Yeah!!! award for just! Uhh! That!!!

And @Walker gets the Determinator award, for making it to final 3 solo after losing both his teammates relatively early on, coming this close to winning the game for scum entirely on his own, and the The Terminator award, for submitting every single scum nightkill in the game! (which also gave me quite a few fun flavor opportunities :V )
