Holding Out For A Hero: An Original Superhero Quest

[X] Formalize a system to get money from your "Sonya" account to "The Vigil's" account so you can buy parts, upkeep the mansion, etc

[X] Experiment with your tag and summon spell to see just how large of an object you can summon.

If we can spontaneously pop a car into place on top of someone that's not only hilarious that's a pretty brutal alpha strike. Go down to a junkyard and chassis will be cheap. Plus it'll steer people in a "junkyard" direction.

Technically, you don't even need to buy a chassis. You just need to tag it. Then, you can summon it whenever you want. It may be stealing in the eyes of the law, but it's not like that can stop you. As long as the police don't arrest you, that is.

Or if we get an ongoing nemesis, we could summon their own stuff at them.

I'm thinking, for example, Profligate's mech being stolen off him or Mr 13's van being summoned and bodily dropped on him might make him think twice about fighting us again.

Yeah, sorry, I'm a sucker for casual disregard for things like physics.

Silly question: I realize we're not wired that way, but would it be plausible to tag-and-summon a bank vault door or a safety deposit box room door?

Personally I don't see why not unless they are specially warded.

But tagging things for summoning is a long process currently. Like 1 hour in constant contact long.

As long as its a separate object and is small enough, you can summon it. So at this point, not a bank vault door, but a safety deposit box door.

...
A few hours of sleep, and a breakfast later, you're feeling closer to normal. You're still hurting from last night, so doing the strenuous metalworking so you've decided to use the time for your "hobby". You're on looking at a map of the city and the surrounding area on Google Earth, trying to find the best ways to get to your hideout, preferably without getting noted by one of the traffic cameras.

You hear the TV in Gwen's room a few doors down. It's playing some cartoon about talking bears. You don't get it, but as long as Gwen likes it and it isn't inappropriate, you don't mind her watching it.

As you scan the map, you hear the door to the office open. You turn around and see Adrian in the doorway. "Keeping busy, hon?"

"Oh, yeah. I'm looking for some different ways to get to the mansion" You say. "It's around here is around here." You say as you scroll down to where your mansion is. The mansion is surrounded by thick forest, you'd almost miss it if you weren't looking for it. "And I'm trying to find a way to get there without getting spotted by traffic cams."

"Yeah... that is a good idea" He says. He then pulls up a chair and sits beside you. "You mind if I help?" He asks. You smile and nod. After about an hour of looking, you're looking at some possible routes.

"Well, there's always going down I-32?" Adrian says, tracing the route with is finger. "The highways don't have traffic cams, and you can exit just west of .

"Yeah, but I'd need to cut through this area if I wanted to get to the mansion from there" You say, pointing at an urban area. There's probably traffic cams right there. Its better than getting caught on camera around here, but I don't want to take any chances" You look at the map for a few more seconds. "It'd probably be better if went towards Eastgate, but head south down Rowe Street." You say "No traffic cams down that way last I checked..."

You eventually settle on a couple of routes. There are a lot of traffic cams in Hartford, so avoiding all of them isn't going to be east. And you'll need to double check to see if those intersections haven't gotten traffic cams installed since you were there, but you feel good about your chances. After that, you and Adrian go on about your days. Spending time together, helping Gwen with her homework and taking care of her rabbit, which she has finally named Bruce. You continue with your day until lunchtime.

You, Adrian, and Gwen are in Blue Bonnet's Burgers, a gourmet burger restaurant. You all managed to beat the lunch rush, but the restaurant was packed. All three of you are eating from their famous bowl o' fries, dipping your fries in ketchup, cheese, and a half dozen other sauces while waiting for your burgers. While you're waiting, Gwen is talking about her week at school.

"So Benny said that he wouldn't throw the ball on the roof, he promised! But as soon as Eddie gave him his bouncy-ball, Benny threw it on the roof!"

"I'm sure that you can just talk to the janitor to get it back" Adrian suggested. "They used to do that all the time when your mother and I went to school"

Gwen looks down, sadly poking a pair of fries in a small bowl of curry honey glaze. "Mr. Torres says that we need to wait till the end of the year to get something back that's stuck on the roof. That's gonna take forever..."

"Don't worry, cupcake. If you count down the days till the end of the year, it's going to feel like it'll take forever. Just keep living life. It'll come sooner than you think. Then you and your friends can get the ball back"

"I guess..." Gwen says. "Eddie said that it was the last Dragon Ball bouncy ball that the store had." Her sadness turns to a slight anger. "Benny's a big jerk."

"Yeah, people like that often grow up to be jerks. We just gotta deal with them" Adrian says. After a few seconds, he turns to you. "Hey Honey, are you feeling alright? You've been quiet today" Adrian asks.

"Ah, I'm fine." You lie. Ever since last night, you've been hurting from where you were shot, even after casting heal. Granted it dulled the pain, but it didn't stop it. And you can't exactly tell Adrian where you got it in public. Hopefully, the pain will fade in the next day or two. You'll tell Adrian when you both get home. "I'm just a little down today"

"Did someone throw your ball on the roof, too, Mom?" Gwen asks, looking at you. "Maybe you can throw something they like on the roof" She suggests. The thought seems to bring a small smile to her face as she munches on her fries.

You chuckle at that. "No, nothing like that" You say. "Just a couple of people who don't wanna pay for some work I did for them" Gwen opens her mouth. "And no, I am not going to throw the statues I made for them on any roof" She closes her mouth.

"I mean, is that all? You aren't usuall-" Adrian asks. You mouth later when Gwen is distracted by dipping her fries in all of the dipping sauces. He nods and drops it.

"I hope you're having a great afternoon, everyone!" Your waitress says before anyone can say anything else. "She's carrying three plates of food on a large tray. "So, we have a Royal Red Crown..." She puts down a burger with all of the fixin's and a fried egg on top, "Smoke and Peppers Burger..." She puts the bbq smoked burger in front of you "And the Triple Cheese Burger Bites for the young lady here" She puts the four sliders in front of Gwen. "If there's anything else, don't hesitate to let me know"

As the waitress leaves, you say a quick prayer and start your meal. Adrian, who isn't as religious as you, waits for you to finish before he starts eating but Gwen has already taken a bite out of one of her sliders by the time you open your eyes again. You chuckle and start eating. As you do, you you all start talking and eventually, the subject comes back to Benny.

Apparently, this isn't the first time Benny has bullied Gwen or her friends. Stealing lunch money, pushing people around, generally being a little turd to anyone younger and smaller than him. And since he's in the third grade, and large for his age, that's most students in the school. As Gwen starts talking, you and Adrian give each other a look. After you get home, you're going to need to give Gwen some real advice on how to deal with Benny. And you both need to decide what you're going to say before you do so. United front and all that. You're going to suggest...

[] The next time he bullies you or your friends, punch that boy in the mouth.
[] Put your head down and try to ignore him. He's fishing for a reaction
[] Tell your teachers about what Benny is doing to you and your friends.
- [] At the very least, you'll have proof you tried to do things the right way.
[] Put your head down and try to endure. The school isn't going to do anything and they'll punish you if you defend yourself.
[] Try talking things out with Benny. He may just have a bad home life, or he might be sad on the inside.
[] Write in.

-[X] Also ask her to keep you and her father informed. Behind the scenes keep records and follow up on any... incidents.

Look - best case scenario the teachers step in before things escalate more. But given that the janitor already knows and I have no doubts that this is widely known... I'm not that hopeful. And the dirty secret with bullies is that a lot of the time asking nicely doesn't make them go away. Parents with records that the school isn't doing anything has a way of making the school actually act though. And if he's being let skate because of powerful parents or something... Well one of the major plot threads is police corruption apparently.
