Hetairoi (No SV, You are a Companion of Alexander the Great)

[X] Say Nothing: Alexander wishes to speak.

Hopefully he'll manage to keep his conqueror instinct under control.
Alexander with any ounce of self control?

What are you trying to say, that he isn't fit to rule?

We just have to hope he's willing to do some fun things like go off on an adventure

Pharmaka
Pharmaka

Neoptolemus stood hesitantly at the door, fingering the edges of his chiton. The young man's uncertainty was caused by an unusual event. His mother sent her personal slave to convey her desire to see him. There would be nothing too unusual about this if it were not for the fact that Olympias rarely paid attention to her second son. In addition, Neoptolemus was not familiar with those corners of the palace where his slaves led him.

However, despite his vague suspicions, the boy could not make his mother wait too long. He resolutely pushed the door and stepped inside.

Neoptolemus felt a thick, heavy incense smell that hit him in the nose. But immediately after that, the boy's attention switched to his mother, who was dressed in a ceremonial peplum.

Her face, looking at Neoptolemus, was covered with shadows, making it impossible to see emotions. Motionless and majestic as a marble statue of a goddess standing in a local sanctuary, Olympias was filled with heavy solemnity.

But this illusion was destroyed by the movement, the woman turned her back to her son and went to the table standing in the middle of the hall. Neoptolemus followed her with an indecisive step, obeying his mother's silent instructions, and when he reached the goal, a rather unusual sight opened up to him.

The table in front of him was filled with various vessels, pestles, mortars, herbs and powders. In the middle of all this stood thymiaterion from which emanated a heady aroma of incense. However, the boy did not have much time to look at the situation because Olympias broke the silence, which immediately attracted her son's attention.

"What should both a warrior and a king be equally afraid of?" - Olympias did not even turn around while uttering these words. Her gaze was focused on a plant that looked like parsley with a long stem that diverged into several smaller stems covered with tiny leaves. Above these leaves were small white flowers.

The question hung in the air for a few seconds until interrupted by the boy's uncertain answer.

"Betrayal?"

The woman tore her gaze away from the plant that interested her and looked at the child in surprise. However, her surprise was quickly replaced by a barely noticeable smile of approval.

"True, but this is a conversation for another lesson. Now we are interested in mageia. If you do not go into unnecessary details now, these are forces from the realm of the gods and the dead. With their help, you can shackle the speaker's tongue, ignite passion, see the will of the gods, provoke the wrath of the dead, incline moir to your side and much more inaccessible to the majority" - saying these words Olympias turned back to the table – "But this is only an enumeration of what can be done with the necessary knowledge. We will not study all this, but will focus only on the creation of pharmaka and mainly on how to recognize and heal from the effects of most of them."

Silence hung in the air saturated with incense, which permeated for several long, lingering moments. But, in the end, it was interrupted by Neoptolemus.

"Why me?" Why now? And why pharmaka?" - a flurry of questions poured in. It seemed absurd to the boy to discuss all this with his mother. The incense in the air made him dizzy.

"Alexander can't waste his time studying everything. He needs to become a great tsar. You will be there for him and he can trust you, so I chose you. As for the time, believe me, it is the most appropriate, once I began to be taught at the same age" - the woman turned to her son, looking into his eyes again, "And here's the answer to your last question." It is very difficult to defend against pharmaka, if proper apotropea and spells can protect you from the rest of mageia, then pharmaka is usually an exception to this rule. It is much easier to recognize and prevent the use of pharmaka in advance than to correct the harm caused by them. Nevertheless, enough questions to put them aside for later now it's time for a lesson."

Olympias took a plant that recently attracted her attention and presented it to Neoptolemus.

"In our first lesson, I will show you how to cook and recognize Cicuta. Watch carefully, maybe this will save your life but also Alexander"
Thymiaterion is a type of censer or incense burner.

Mageia The Greek term mageía (μαγεία) means enchantment, fascination, glamour, wizardry.

Pharmaka an ambiguous term they can denote poisons, medicines, magic potions.

Apotropey is a talisman that should avert the evil eye and damage.

Cicuta according to assumptions, one of the possible plants that were used for execution in Athens. His most famous victim is Socrates.

I started looking for information about poisons and found that in the Greek world they were part of the magical tradition. Perhaps Aristotle or another like him would have given Neoptolemus knowledge about poisons based on more scientific concepts.
But it is unlikely that this approach can be expected from Olympias, especially considering that she may have been in a mystery cult.

Sorry for the lack of Life, been a bit busy.

here are the Rewards:

[]Relationship Status: Complicated (You gain a new action involving your mother... and understand part of her motivations)
[]its called Detecting Poison (Gain Skill: Poison Detection)
[]Alexander has no Fear, for that belongs to you (Unkown effect)

The first option will most likely allow us to study poisons under the mentorship of Olympias. No matter how attractive it is, it is not a fact that the choice will fall on him when voting.
The third is possible to reduce Alexander's unhealthy paranoia in the future. This one, although it improves Alexander's mental state, does not give him protection from poisons.
So in the name of Alexander, the second option will be chosen, I hope in the future we will have the opportunity to improve this skill to become an indestructible shield between him and the poisoners.

[X] its called Detecting Poison (Gain Skill: Poison Detection)

And So the World Shook
And So the World Shook:

[X] Say Nothing: Alexander wishes to speak.

You were silent when you turned to Alexander, who stood tall, even in binds, even as he stood with his captors looking on at him. You were quiet because you could see in his clear eyes that he wished to speak.

Yet his first words were ones that caught all off guard. "Neoptolemus, step away from this boy who wears the armor of a soldier." He said his words with venom, and you did as he said, stepping away towards your brother, who quickly moved you behind him, and Ptolemy. "For even in his steel, he moves like one that has not been in battle, as we have."

The Leader seemed desponded, trying to find the words that he wanted to say, yet instead… He found himself chuckling in his mind… and feeling much in his face as he drew his sword. "Yet the Greatest Son of Philip of Macedonia is my prisoner, and you speak so quickly, with pride and arrogance. Your brother had more sense than to realize that he had to bargain."

"That he did," Alexander replied. "And I will say this to back his most illustrious and illuminated argument, with a deal that would cement it all in a bloody sunder." He held out his hands. "I am not going to ask my father to kill you, nay, I will ask him to let you off, to live your lives with treasure, only to be reminded of mercy and discipline."

"Alexander." You whispered, trying to stop him from speaking anymore. He was going to get himself killed with his big mouth and his arrogance.

And you would quickly join him, because knowing his words, they would view you more as a liability than a hostage.

The leader nodded before he struck your brother with the back of his hand. "Alexander. Your brother is wiser than you, perhaps you should have let him speak."

"I am not finished." Alexander quickly said as he spat blood on the ground.

The leader then put down his spear. "My brother speaks of saving lives because he does not believe that what they have is worthy. That they must be guided by an unceasing onslaught of will and determination."

You did not believe his words, but then again, few people did believe why you were so kind to your lessors… your equals and your betters.

"Let us go, and you can have your hunt. You're treasure… and your lives."

Alexander spoke, but for a moment, he was not sure of himself. He was not confident in himself and his own abilities.

And that hesitation made the leader laugh. "Again, like your brother, you offer for your lives, but nothing in our return."

Event: D3 =>3

"You will help us find our treasure." The Leader stated. "And you have my word… You will be freed to your father. And we will make sure all of Greece and all the world, know of the great Heroes Alexander, his brother Neoptolemus, and his faithful companion Ptolemy… and the Thracian Justin."

"And if we don't?" Alexander asked.

"You will die, as simple as that." The leader, Justin replied.

Alexander laughed. "A fair trade."
-----------------------------

The night turned to day, and you were back on your horse… and you looked at the map.

Where do you go?:

[]Towards the River to the North: The only thing that you believed was that the snake on the map was the river that bordered the Barbarian north

[]Towards the East, and the Hellespont and Byzantium: The only place that this map could be referring to is not a treasure, but a city. The Greatest City in Thrace. Byzantium is the only city that your father could never conquer.

[]To the South, towards Father's Army: The only place a treasure would be hidden is on the trail of Father's Army.

AN: Enjoy.

[X]Towards the East, and the Hellespont and Byzantium: The only place that this map could be referring to is not a treasure, but a city. The Greatest City in Thrace. Byzantium is the only city that your father could never conquer.

To the north is the Danube, and beyond it, Dacia. There's gold in them hills, the Romans would go on to conquer it. Just watch out for natives and their falxes.

The only problem here is...

Well just because there is gold, dosen't mean there aren't people willing to defend those hills for a reason.

Having Byzantium and controlling the Hellespont will be invaluable later.

I have no strong feelings either way, but marching south might raise questions with our captors.
