Hetairoi (No SV, You are a Companion of Alexander the Great)

"Who is it that has earned your wrath, father?"

"I'm glad you've asked, son." Father stares out at a distance, where a castle that looks too advanced yet primitive is standing there. "These..so called 'French' had called my mother a Hamster, and my father smelt of elderberries."

This causes everyone around him to gasp in shock and anger.

[X] "Who is it that has earned your wrath, father?"

The Tolls of War
The Tolls of War:

"Who is it that has earned your wrath, Father?" You asked as you looked at your horse, and then at his own, looking at the single good eye of your father as you said it, trying to see if he had anything going through his mind you could see.

Your father, however, seemed to sigh, as if he had hoped you would know better. "You do not know those that have slighted our family, and our kingdom?" He asked, feeling a sense of loss in his tone before he wiped his face with a single hand.

Alexander and his friends tried not to laugh, but they could not help themselves, and you could feel a well of shame building in your body, and you dropped your head in shame.

Father however sighed. But his tone was quick and it was swift. "Cease this infernal laughter at your brother and comrade at once!" The shook of his tone was something evident, and every one of your brothers in arms was silent and stopped in their tracks, the jesting and jovial attitude gone. He then glared his one eye at Alexander, who was only looking at you with a hint of fear, knowing that he had gone out of line. "He asked a valid question, one that you all should cherish to know."

But then he turned his horse, to continue ridding and marching towards his objective. "Mount yourself, my son. You will ride, and you will learn the reason. Now move with haste, or be left behind."

You looked around and saw the other members of the Hetairoi start following, riding towards your father with haste. There was fear in their eyes. All moved to not be punished.

Except for Alexander. He instead waited and took the reigns of your mount and moved to a good position, placing you between it, and himself.

Alexander then held out his arm, and gave a small smile, his face and head hiding the blinding sun beside him. "Come on." He offered, and you took his hand, being lifted up off the ground, then placed onto your horse.

You took the reigns and calmed your mount before you quietly rode beside your father with your brother and his friends.

Father turned, and noticed you on his left, while Alexander took his rightful place on his right. "How did he mount?" He asked.

"You gave no order for him to mount by himself," Alexander stated. "Only that he moved with haste. And I saw no reason to let him stay behind."

That made Philip chuckle, and the other members of the Hetairoi to pale at that laughter. "Brothers indeed, are the most apt of comrades." He looked to the others with a stern glare from his one eye. "And you best remember who you serve, for your lives are tied to theirs."

All of them realized that they did wrong. Yet Philip continued. "And those same comrades, who enjoyed the spoils of my power. The Thracians have refused my generous offer to see me as their protector, even as I have promised them the Riches of Greece as a reward, for serving in my army."

He looked at you, and then at Alexander. "I have long held promise for them, esteemed positions in my court, if they accepted, and you would have seen them… as brothers in arms." He paused.

"Yet all they have done is spat at my face. Deny my offer of brotherhood. And now, I seek to destroy them for that injury."

"Why?" You found yourself asking. "Why would they refuse?"

"Because they think I am weak. That I am unable to use my power in a manner that would see them cowed. That they may hide behind their walls and wait for me to leave." Philip spoke with a curse growing in his voice. "I will not, till they bow and call me master."

You then gulped as you saw the rage in his eye… and realized Father's warpath would not stop.
----------------------------------------------

A Month passed, and you saw Trace as what it was. Scattered farms and cities. They were all brought under siege, and the countryside burned as Philip spared no quarter. Those that surrendered were not made into subjects but slaves.

They had refused him once, and that injury would see them conquered.

But what do you do, as you watch this campaign… this… brutality by your father's side?:

[]You ride into the Countryside: You take a sword, a shield, some food, and your horse and roam the ruined countryside. You see the devastation that your father taught them.

[]You see the Slaves going South: You find some of the slaves that Father captured, many of them children. "Do you want to know what causes them to suffer in this way?"

[]You ride with Alexander and Ptolemy as you look for Books and Scrolls: Ptolemy has roped Alexander into looking for scrolls from the city's elders, many of them works that may be lost forever.

[]You ride with Father: A Diplomatic Envoy from Byzantium comes, to see if they can negotiate a peace before their kingdom is destroyed.

AN: enjoy.

Thinking on what would trigger "Compassionate", and while the slaves one is promising, exposing Neoptolemus to what war does to a land and its people seems necessary.

Let us see the cost of War

Let us see the toils of war, and see the bed toils of those dammed to the end

WEll these won't affect Neo as much as they might otherwise, but they will give him an opinion of his father that he might not gain otherwise.

We've already seen what an army on the march does.
Let us see the toils of war, and see the bed toils of those dammed to the end
Perhaps... perhaps not. that depends on what happens.

And if Philip bucks history and takes over Byzantium instead of failing.
Hmm..

Potential Traits:

Country Side: Cynicism
Slaves: Compassion
Alexander and Ptolemy: Scholar
Byzantium: Socialite
You will not be gaining traits.

You will however gain other things.

Man, the first few paragraphs had me worrying, but Philip pulled through. At this rate I'll be sad to see him go in that assassination.:(
And Alexander with the bro move. Another one who will die too young, if we can't help him.

Anyway, so many good options. We've been around for a month, can't we just do everything?

I pick this option, both to be contrarian and because I like listening to the hardass we have for a father.

Well, Philip is always going to be a hardass, but never forget he loves his sons.

And that he is always teaching his sons.

I mean... If you aren't at least partially sad about Philips death, either for his goodness as a father, or a king...

Or if you are the one who kills him... then I haven't done my job right.
And Alexander with the bro move. Another one who will die too young, if we can't help him.
When I said you would have plot armor and that Alexander would love you, I meant it.

No, this adventure will lead to things.

Philip is awesome, and I will be sad once he dies.
