Again the main issue is the fact that the officer would know you entered the chief's room, and they would scrap everything in there as a precaution.

Killing them eliminates the fact the officer could tell anyone.

--[X] Advice? Why not have Greg order some magic items that hypnotise or mindwipes the subject and have Vinny create a brainwashing program and then send it to the police chief so at least if magic doesn't work technology will and vice versa

-[] Advice? So going over low tech solutions of bypass? Can't jam paper into door lock or otherwise tamper the door open? Can we make a new hole from somewhere or come in through air vents? Is there a possible to trick a cop option, a janitor cleaning ,a "inspector", need to change lightbulbs at odd time (who checks what goes into the office beside lock)? Can't (Trojan Horse) it in there or bribe a cop?

-Mundane weapons: $50 each. Hidden boot knife?

Taser Sword: $950. Nice but get feeling there's better stuff to consider.
Sound canceling knife: $2400.scam! unless very black ops jobs stuff.
Blade that releases a weak blade of wind when swung: $3200 Very interesting, possibly good unbalance effect, can't justify for specialized job with price budget.

-Mundane weapons: $50 each. Crowbar, got sewage access and good for avoiding lock picking checks?

-Gauntlets w/ deployable hard-light shield built-in: $3500.I like!
Smoke grenades: $90 per grenade. 30$ cheaper.

-[] Phones? How many. $70 per phone. At least one personal is nice, have to check what needs a "work" phone has.

-[] Arm Terminal. Like a laptop and phone, but attached to your arm. Can install hacking programs onto it. $750. Interesting but I don't see us picking up hacking any time soon, but a small laptop is nice.

Music player?, Flash light, watch. Gaming?.

If mind manipulation magic was that easy to get, why not become a Big villains and hypnotize people to give us credit card numbers and stuff. Not remotely going to work. First rule of Mind control is don't let people know you can Mind control if they are not under Mind control.
 
One thing I will say, that shouldn't be too surprising.

Expect Heroes with stats in the tens, if not hundreds if they are higher tier.

You are way outclassed, and is why information is such an important thing in this quest.
