Henchman for Hire [Custom Superhero world, you are a Mook]

How much Time has passed as that hero seems to have shown up early? Did we even get the safe open? We were busy on crowd control and just stared looting so a flat footed escape at best.
1/3 safes are open which was the bare requirement for the mission as said in the story.

Defend and stall the 30 second adrenal implant before we try to take a offensive.
You don't know when he has activated it, might not have triggered it yet.

  • [X] Stall or control!
    [X] I have a bomb!!
    -[X][Slasher]
    --[X] "We need to go!"
---[X] The most important thing here, work with those around you, don't just rush in. Watch him carefully, and arm yourself with the claw hammer and grab the ohm meter, wave it around and threaten the hero and the hostages with it.
---[X]Try to make the hero back down and move pass him
    [X] Stall or control!
    -[X][Slasher]
    --[X] "We got this!"
---[X] Get some obstacles or hostage between you and him. His Knives on adrenaline would get around your hammer any day. Defend and wait for an opening. Only take the offensive if it clear adrenal implant runs out.
----[X] If a fight does break out let teammates who can fight better take lead. We try to aim at arms or knock his knives out of his hands. If there's no opportunity use anything to retreat to backroom and barricade door to further stall out.
----[X] Next... Get chatting. "Apologies, but it seems you've come at the wrong time to get some jewelry, sir. We are quite busy but if you want to help out you can get a cut of the Diamonds" Stall for time to get safe open and getaway bags loaded. I also like ridiculous recruiting angle, "does the amateur hero work pay well?" "You seem more cut out to be a villain with double deadly knives as your power."
-----[X] Generally try to disarm and distract him from going full out. Don't threaten hostages to put him in a panic. He hopefully won't use his deadly knives If the situation isn't life and death! He is trying to be a Hero?
    [X] I have a bomb!!

Will start on the chapter tonight or tomorrow.

Just like a Slasher, it's a Massacre.

Getting the display case between me and Slasher, I make sure to grab a hostage as I do so, claw hammer ready to swing, with a screwdriver ready to go into the hostage's eye, though this is more of a bluff, Slasher tenses up with knives in hand.

Let's see if I can get him talking, have to drag this out so Commander can get the safes.

"Apologies, but it seems you've come at the wrong time to get some jewelry, sir. We are quite busy but if you want to help out you can get a cut of the diamonds."

"Like I would ever accept that deal, surrender yourself and this won't turn violent."
Stealth x2 vs Awareness: Roll 2d100 got 62+6 and 61+8+10 vs 20+8+25. Sparky and Monk sneak while you keep him distracted.
Slasher gets no dodge check as unaware.
Sparky attack roll: 96+6. Crit so double damage.
Monk attack roll: 82+8. Standard damage.
Does Sparky break anything? 50, no.
Roll 1d100 got 95+5+2d10[Brass knuckles]+2d6[electricity] = (120*2) damage. Slasher at 560/800
Roll 1d100 got 48+9+3d20[Baseball bat] = Total of 102 damage. Slasher at 458/800.
Slasher lost 1/3rd of his health DC 40 Endurance Roll: 26+8. Failure. Stunned.
Sparky and Monk attack again, you join combat.
Roll 1d100 got 80+5+4+9. Total of 98. Slasher at 360.
Roll 1d100 got 41+8+33. Total of 82. Slasher at 278.
Roll 1d100 got 65+5+1d10[Small hammer] Total of 79. Slasher at 199.
Slasher activates his Adrenal Implant as a Free Action.
Makes an attacking roll on you.
Roll 1d100 got (31+9) * 50% -15 [Prone] vs 69+6. 45 vs 75, misses.
Slasher's Dodge roll: Roll 1d100 got (10+9) *50% = 28.
Roll 3d100 got 83,57,46, all hit.
Sparky: 64+5+2d10+2d6 = 95. Slasher at 104.
Monk: 78+9+3d20 = 122. Slasher is at -18/800 HP, Slasher is unconscious, combat end, you don't do any more damage.
Gain 0.3 towards deception and melee.
Sparky and Monk slowly slip out of his line of sight while I keep his attention on me.

"Come on, does amateur hero work even pay well?"

He goes to open his mouth before Sparky lands a cross jab across his face making him fall to the floor and I swear I hear it crack as Monk swings his bat like a golf club catching him in the ribs, as he is dazed I vault over the display counter and run over towards him.

Grabbing his knives, I toss them away, they are just ordinary ones after all, and I follow up by smacking him on the face with my claw hammer breaking his nose.

His body suddenly stiffens as he makes a punch at my face, missing by a fair margin as I stumble backward from his newfound speed, Sparky punches him straight in the family jewels and he lets out a strange-sounding scream due to his broken or fractured jaw, Monk follows it up with another swing and he is out like a light.

A few seconds go by and I slowly speak.

"You know, that went much better than I thought it would, you two watch over him real quick."

Moving back I shout into the back.

"Commander! Slasher is down, your orders?"

"Just got the second safe open, run him down for anything not electronic and get back to looting, make sure he stays unconscious!"

I look at my two companions.

"Watch over him and I loot?"

Endurance check 60: Roll 1d100 got 36+8, Slasher remains unconscious.
Loot Roll 0/60/80/100: Roll 1d100 got 50+6. $50/5 = $10.

They both nod as I resume where Monk left off, catching the keys as I quickly get to work, I get about 90% of all the jewelry before Commander shouts at us.

"Alright, evac now!"

"What about Slasher?"

"Leave him! He is too low on the totem pole to matter."

Monk grabs his knives as we rush out the back each carrying a bag of loot, the van sitting in the alley with the back doors open, as we pile in, Monk slams the doors close as Driver gets us out of there.

As I slip out of the electrician outfit, Commander takes out a cigarette and starts to smoke.

"Job well-done folks, you dealt with a Hero as well no matter how weak he was, that might net you a bonus, at the very least makes you seem more capable, how did you do it?"

I see no reason to lie here.

"I grabbed a hostage and began talking, Sparky and Monk snuck around while he kept his focus on me and jumped him, they got him to the floor and we ganged up on him really."

The two of them nod and Commander grins.

"Before we head back, let's dish out our loot yeah? Driver, take us to Victoria's!"

Sparky looks a little bit confused by this.

"Why are we selling it now? Isn't the loot still hot?"

"Victoria is one of our better fence's and she loves jewelry, besides from all those safes, I got $4,500."

That is $900 each so far, not a bad bonus.

As we drive through a dark tunnel, Driver presses a switch as I hear something whirring outside the van near the back.

"License plate has been changed."

"Good, take it easy you three, you did good today."

Monk looks over the knives with a careful eye before tossing them out the window.

"Just ordinary knives, not a single bit of tech on them."

I just let myself calm down and unwind, my adrenaline calming down as my head rests against the side of the van.

After some minutes of waiting in the van, Commander enters the van with a wide grin.

"It isn't much, but based on how much loot you all grabbed, we each will be gaining an additional $3,000 from this on top of the $900 from earlier."

$3,900? That is great money for what couldn't be more than half an hour, sure we had to beat up a man, but it is to be expected.

"It is all being wired to your accounts through Calculator's systems, they got their methods, and they won't cheat you, might take a few hours though."

We nod our heads before we are dropped off one by one, Monk is dropped off near a Park, Sparky near the commercial district, and I am dropped off near where I got picked up earlier.

Making my way back to the hideout, I take my time, not like I am in a rush right now.

What to do once I get back though?

You have six actions, anything with a + can be taken multiple times.
[][Safehouse 27]
-[] Head to the gym, practice what? Unarmed or Melee. +
-[] Head to the mechanics' workshop and practice that? +
-[] Interact with your fellow co-workers, wouldn't be bad to make friends. +
-[] Head to the command center, maybe you can learn something useful. Can pick two from the choices below. +
--[] Let's learn about other safehouses in the city.
--[] Some Hero Profiles? Could be useful. Gives you an additional bonus for recognizing a hero including what their powers and potential weaknesses might be.
--[] Fences, where I can sell stolen goods might be useful.
--[] One of the local black markets, could be useful.
--[] Some local places where I can buy goods that would normally require a background check, extra funds to buy them, but no paper trail leading it back to me.
--[] Who the other villains in the city are, that could always be useful.
--[] Suppliers of goods? Not drugs mind you, but of materials, weapons, medicine… all of that can be useful and people can be bought for a price.
--[] Write-in? Clear with QM first.
-[] Head out onto the city and explore. +
-[] Head out into the city, buy something, what? No guarantee you will find it.
-[] Lookup information online? About what? +
-[] Head to the local library? Study what? +
-[] Hang out with Greg and Vinny?
-[] Go check out the Weapon supplier.
-[] Go check out the Medicine supplier.
-[] Go check out the Car supplier.
-[] Write-in? Get QM approval first.

Rough plan at the moment, but for it... Mostly just focusing on what we're good at? Little bit of socialization and so on, as well as hanging out with Greg and Vinny. As for the Awareness... Yeah I'll be honest I'm working on comic book logic here, and mostly seeing how it'll go more then not. As awareness seems a bit of an important skill for a mook to have so they're not stealth-ganked.

As for why the socializing? Well... Better to have friends in this business then not as it goes.

As a small note, you have roughly one month between each Mandatory Crime, each turn being a "Week".

That battle went as well as possible. We ended up using the theme music to him rather than Slasher to us! I have to wonder how bad it would be if he got an attack off or wasn't sneak attacked. How much did we leave an impression on him, or did Sparky make a bigger impact to his jaw.

I will admit the Slasher fight was meant to be much harder, but when I saw the crit and how that managed to inflict a stun? I knew it was heavily tilted in your favor.

If he managed to launch an actual melee attack with his weapons it would have been at a 1d100+8+45-15[Dual wielding], meaning it was unlikely you would have dodged, then he basically dealt 2x damage for every attack he landed with his knives, and with two of them technically x4 damage.

Oh, shoot. Man, we got lucky then.

Oh man, I just feel bad for Slasher. A whole rookie against 5 criminals, and not only was he robbed blind, but got a good punch down there. He should go take a break, maybe train a little more. I hope his dreams of being a hero aren't crushed.

Anyway YEAH WE'RE RICH! The dice really favored Fred in this scenario. I'd rather get some good training in so...

Aznatoth's Items
To give an idea of what is available on your current continent as you all got a small amount of cash.

Tech weapons [Lasers, Tesla guns, freeze, robots/drones, etc]

Tech like armor [Iron man like suits, batman like, Borderland like shields, deployable shields, exo suits, etc]

Implants [Adrenaline, Cyberpunk like, Deus Ex like, etc]

Healing [Nanomachines, highly advanced chemicals, etc]

Vehicles [Transforming vehicles, flying vehicles, hover trains, etc]

Magic, Qi/Ki are rather rare as it is very Tech heavy.

Decided to give this so you all have a rough idea of what and what does not exist, and where to best spend your money in the future.

Some things are easier to acquire than others, if you want stuff from other continents, you need to find a Smuggler or a way to order stuff overseas.

This is not even close to everything that exists.

Will answer any questions that might pop up at this.

Hmm....I believe that there should be an inclination to magic, as the heroes and police in this specific continent won't be used to it as much as they're used to technology, so they wouldn't have as much experience fighting against it.

As it was a tie, flipped a coin landed on Socializing, working out, and blindfolds.

Working on the chapter now.
