Gundam Crucible - [An AU Universal Century Quest]

Ace, I genuinely mean this in the politest way I can, but shut up.

Seriously, If this is how you react every single time we vote for something that doesn't have an 'obviously perfect/correct' result, this is going to get really old, really fast.

We fucked up. I misread the room and thought we had, like, Half an hour at most, not enough time to actually comfort our mother properly. I thought it would actually have turned out like it did here, us telling her about it but not being able to talk properly. People made votes for reasons that they thought were legitimate, and yes, we were wrong.

But this is a quest. Not actual people having an actual emotional breakdown. Frankly, I've come here to escape the recent increase in stress in my life, and at least personally I don't need it to turn into a Big Deal.

You're upset about the vote? Yeah, I get that. But instead of moping in thread, vent a bit, go outside for a walk, have a coffee, chill, and maybe plan about how ways we might be able to salvage this later once you feel calmer, because you clearly aren't calm right now

I don't think people thought we'd just blow off the mom instead of just not dealing with the issue immediately. It was probably in-between this issue and little sis' issue being ignored.

Hey, Bleach. Does the hanger have spare ReZEL parts? Could we cannibalise some defensor units?
....
Yes.
This ship has a lot of spare parts that are meant to be used with modern Londo Bell MS, but no actual MS were on board (aside from the Banshee) when it left for the shakedown run.
It won't look pretty, but you can kitbash. :V

... So no spare legs?

No, I'm not joking, that is potentially important.
I mean, yeah. The specifically brought some because they had Riddhe, apparently.
Banshee legs are useless to us. We can't interface with them. They need to be legs from other Mobile Suits.

I'd rather our frame didn't rip apart when we open the throttle.
There are no Banshee spare legs. The Banshee is repaired with legs from other MS.
So yeah, you've got your pick of ReZEL legs, Jegan legs, ReGZ legs...

[X] Plan Long Slap with Misdirection Prime
-[X] The plan to use the Anti-ship Rifle is probably the best, but the enemy mobile suits will do all they can to foul up her shots once they realise the danger. Using the sortie-distraction part of the Misdirection plan might buy enough time for her to get several shots off before the enemy can engage, and when the enemy mobile suits break away to attack her they'll leave themselves vulnerable to a pincer flank attack.

[X] Plan Long Slap with Misdirection
-[X] If the Banshee sorties as an initial misdirection while we snipe in the Woundwort from a different angle, we might be able to draw their attention away from a vital point (perhaps even an I-field emitter!) on the Magellan and thus have a better chance for the plan to succeed.

Though, really, with an opponent like this, the ideal weapon would be something like the jury-rigged funnel missiles like the Kshatriya Repair had...

I think it is better to let eris use the Anti-ship rifle, mainly because Riddhe isn't going to be much of a distraction on his lonesome. Two Gundams is a credible threat, him trying to down it solo already failed, so they aren't going to concentrate all of their forces against him if he is alone.

Altered my plan name so our votes won't be confused.

I really can't blame Cybele in that situation. It's not an easy thing telling your mother that she's survived her son. I wish we could do everything. But that's not the way the world works, yes we ran from our problems for a moment. But grieving isn't something you just do once and get over it. Delayed grief is pretty common in fact.

Oh… guess we made another mistake. Useless parental figures are pretty normal for Gundam, guess we walked face first into that trope. We probably would have needed to put a lot of effort into avoiding it after getting the brother killed, but using Sicilia to ignore the problem wasn't a good idea.

Newtypes do have a habit of imprinting on the first other Newtype they establish a connection with, so hyper focusing on Sicilia has an in universe precedent. Don't know if playing the Newtype Protagonist tropes to the hilt was a good idea though. They don't have the best of luck.

Our friends probably aren't doing great either, their home just got blown up after all. Checking in on them would have been a good idea.

[X] Plan Misdirection

Not sure about what to vote for. Misdirection is the most traditional, Gundams are by their very nature attention grabbing. It's a plan that's worked out in universe before, the Federation's current Newtype obsession even plays into it. I'm not sure if playing to the tropes is a good idea (it has definitely cost us) but this should work out.

I'm not sold on the write in. Long Slap needs someone sending targeting data back to Eris, which could be difficult with only two machines in the thick of it. It also limits the amount of time Eris has to disable the Magellan before it can open fire on our ship. It might work out if the Magellan panics and decelerates after taking fire.

Of course, it's possible that a write in is the only way to get out of this without losing something considering how this quest has gone so far.

Eris will have the rest of the ships mobile suits for targeting data, and if push comes to shove we can always have Sicilia handle the data while Cybele fights once the enemy starts to divide there attention.

Also I'm expecting the Magellan to try and manuever it's vulnerable spots away from the rifle shots, which will make targeting the londo bell ship more difficult for them.

The misdirection plan calls for only launching the two Gundams at first, so none of the other mechs will be in any position to feed Eris targeting data. I also don't think we'll have Sicilia in our cockpit again.

Okay, so what trope is this in gundam?

Like Outside of Amuro's crazy father and Kamilles actively shitty one, Kamilles Mother at least seemed to care about him even if they argued before she died in like episode 2, Judau's an orphan if memory serves, and Banagers dad did some experiments whilst super young, but then accepted Banagers Mother leaving him and actively tried to stop him from getting involved in the plot until it couldn't be avoided.

Most parents in U.C. gundam I remember who manage to survive are at least care, if not always vocal about it. Am I misremembering something fierce?

I doubt she'll consent to sit the fight out, especially with us picking her last time. She wouldn't be in the briefing if she was just going to be barred from participating.

As for the target data, only 1 mobile suit needs to close with the ship to provide accurate targeting data, assuming it's even neccessary if the Magellan has closed some of the distance, making the shot harder to avoid and easier to aim.

Bit Fang with megaparticle-type beam saber as main armament would pop that Magellan like a balloon.

Sorry, I wasn't clear - I mean Cybele being a second sniper to force them to split their attention.

That tech doesn't exist outside of Gundam 00.

[x] Plan Fiver III
-[x] Jury rig a respec of the Woundwort using a pair of ReZEL legs for extra thrusters and cannabalizing some Defenser Units to make a Cross Thrust Binder for mobility (Shoulder and hip hard-points). Re-arm using the biggest cannon that the ship has available, or failing that, a Beam Magnum. Set the shield booster rifle on the backpack to add additional thrust. The funnels unfortunately can go unless they fit on the shoulder mounts. There's probably a second seat booster somewhere around here so a second pilot can act as fire control. Whatever remaining hard points can go to missiles.
-[x] Play hit and run distraction and spotter for Eris. The main goal, contrary to everything, is actually to draw the Gundam Delta Kai and Mass Production Nu onto the battlefield. Afterwards, disengage and allow the Banshee to funnel hijack. If Riddhe needs Sicilia to do so, then he gets Sicilia.
-[x] After the defenders are appropriately crippled, Heat Blade directly to the Megallan's secondary bridge, convert to claw mode to rip open the armour, and open fire with the Megaparticle Cannon straight inside it. Repeat till something critical goes.

Best I can come up with on what we have to hand. The Woundwort in its current configuration is a survival craft, not a combatant. We need to play up its expandability and modularity.
