Gundam Crucible - [An AU Universal Century Quest]

Great analysis.. I've been thinking pretty much the same thing ever since Lorelei dropped the "he's planning war crimes" bomb on us back in the final chapter of Jupiter's Second Coming, even if I wasn't quite as in depth in my own analysis.

My one point of disagreement is that Dogatie is planning only colony drops. These missions have phases in which we can take them, the earlier the better. Like, the longer we put Dogatie off the better his odds of success. He's probably planning at least one war crime besides Colony drops and if we say, put him off till our final chance of stopping him, he probably succeeds or partially succeeds at one of them, and pulls off both if we don't take it.

He's probably going to try and seize the resources he needs for the none colony drop war crime, same as he needs to reach and begin towing Island Cascadia. This let's him avoid the space premium you mentioned.
The reason I'm expecting only a colony drop is that they're a symbol of the OYW alongside a lot of other conflicts, and if the goal is to cause chaos in the Earth Sphere it would work even if the it failed to reach the intended destination. Also fewer moving parts means fewer ways for things to go wrong, and unless Dogatie has loads of nukes the damage he can do is limited.

This wasn't his original plan given the travel times involved, but if the people of the Earth Sphere give Dogatie a potential WMD they're not paying much attention... well he was raised in a place where people are told to use what they've got on hand, and the Jupiter Fleet has quite a bit of energy to accelerate large objects at things. Since even in CCA they were wondering where Char got the energy to yeet things at the Earth iirc.

For the stages I was thinking something along the lines of,

1) Stop him from getting any gain from this thus discouraging future attempts of interference by the Jupiter Fleet, and reassert that Londo Bell is still has a handle on this types of problems as the plot was foiled in the initial stages. Well in the eyes of those who ever learn of what went down.
2) Have a chance to stop the colony from actually being accelerated enough that it cannot be stopped without blowing it up, and avoid any of the political mess a near miss would cause as such acts are a hot button issue even among Spacenoids.
3) Stop the colony from actually hitting the target, and a near miss would damage the legitimacy of Londo Bell alongside result in a lot of spacenoids side eyeing the Republic of Zeon, or any organization with Zeon in the name. This still avoids the massive upswing of support for the Federation if the target was say the Earth, and it hit the planet.

The above is all speculation on my part as the instance I can recall of what we miss from not picking a mission during the first phase was not getting an alliance with the Republic of Zeon if we hadn't picked the First Newtype as our first mission.
The hiding his actual intentions bit doesn't actually make sense. Obscuring his thoughts by focusing on multiple options for war crimes still tells everyone he is here for war crimes. Memory based abilities like Kamille and Lorelei are actually pretty rare, as even Jutneu Anstud seems to have been kept in the dark by Dogatie keeping his distance. If we hadn't struck the right cord for Dogatie with Cybele's speech, Cybele probably woudn't have been able to notice him lying, and Lorelei would probably have had a harder time plundering his memories. Newtypes benefit from a connection/shared understanding, as we see with Lorelei being able to hide from her team because they never knew the real her under her pro federation mask.

Edit: Also, I actually genuinely forgot what's his faces Ashta's first name this time beyond the J, and decided to just fall back on the joke rather than look it up.
Fair enough, and the only Newtype I can recall hiding like what Lorelei did is Char at the end of Zeta hiding the fact that he survived. Well there was Scirocco hiding how much a monster he was for awhile, and giving other Newtypes what the wanted to see in an individual to better manipulate them.

Actually stopping a colony drop after the colony has accelerated will require the full awakened Unicorn and/or the Phenex.

So I think we should go for Phoenix Hunt or Unicorn for our next mission imo.

Not really how things work based on the QMs imput.
[This next vote is for the upcoming story arc, which will commence after a few updates following Cybele and friends aboard the Bellerophon. Note that options One or Two will reach their final stages if not chosen, and will only have one more opportunity to be chosen later on before they Bad End. The outcome of each one of course is better if you choose them now. The opportunity to choose it later on will only avoid a worst-case scenario.]
As I said earlier, these missions have Phases. Which phase you take a mission in determines the outcome and how beneficial it is to a degree. We took the first newtype in it's earliest phase, and walked away with a sort of alliance with the Republic of Zeon, a powerful newtype ally, and a mobile armor. We took hathaway falls, in the second phase, and we got an alliance, and technically hathaway(can we refund him and get Chan instead?).

Completing a mission like the Principality would indeed be easier if we'd taken either of the two suggested missions for our last arc, but they don't change the actual impact of which phase a mission is taken during. Phoenix hunt is still at it's third and worst phase, and Principality, if taken in it's third and worst phase, isn't much improved, if it's improved at all(no guarantee what we get for taking it this late) for having already done Phoenix Hunt.

With the next Arc vote coming up, I'm in favor of stopping Dogatie now, which should be early enough to stop him from coming within spitting distance of earth.

Hm. I was thinking it would less a matter of Newtype hax, and more a CCA style get the demo charges to the correct location to break it up enough either everything will burn up on reentry, or redirect it such that it misses Earth.

Also the next mission selection is going to be loads of fun.
[][Story Arc] "Phoenix Hunt" (Mission Option Three)
This will in the third phase, and I wouldn't expect the pilot to be any anything remotely resembling a combat ready state mentally based upon how she was last time we got a view on how that was going on.

This is an acceptable outcome imo, but just something we need to keep in mind when making decisions to expand Cybele's sphere of influence.
[][Story Arc] "Legacy of the Principality" (Mission Option Three)

[][Story Arc] "Unicorn" (Mission Option Four)
Not picking one of these next mission select insures we'll be faced to pick between one of the two in a future mission select.

Furthermore based upon Judau contacting one of the individuals we just rescued... I wouldn't be surprised if the current mission unlocked a mission around whatever is going on with him, and based upon previous trends we'll get a second mission as well.

[X] Hong Kong Disneyland. What better way to get your mind off of the dark trauma lurking in your mind than visiting the Happiest Place on Earth?

I can't deny our little sis anything.

Just in time.

You look up and meet her gaze. Until this moment, you hadn't really known what it meant to come to complete understanding with another Newtype. You both reach out and grasp each other's hands in solidarity. You're sisters-in-arms now.
You know, it occurs to me that with the Arc ending, we might run into Amuro again, which would be the first time since Lorelei joined. There are two of them now. The question is, is Sicilia going to "accidentally" out Lorelei as an Amuro groupy.

So quick question, would anyone be interested in making an Omake about Cybele being in one of the Gundam Dynasty Warriors games (namely 1 or 3 original mode)?

Kinda curious how she would get along with other Gundam pilots from other timelines outside of UC.

I could do two maybe. The Plot of that artificial world is a bit better than the plot of 3 and less rigid than the plot of 1. Honestly it's been a few years.

I think their is more fun to be had in a Haman Karn wakes up in Cybele's body for a day omake, or Kaylen kills blue wolf Omake, or Kaylen lives and gives Amuro a hard time because he's an overprotective brother and Cybele is an Amuro Groupie.

Haro Record-1-Business Plans
"Excuse me," Amuro knocked on the open door, "You're Rhea Pagonis, right?"

The redheaded engineer looked up from her desk, grinning with excitement almost immediately.

"Amuro Ray, the White Meteor himself!" She stood, making her way over and shaking his hand, "What can I do for the Ace of Londo Bell?"

He took a seat on the other side of the desk, settling into the chair, "Well, I was hoping that you could enlighten me on a few matters. I've been out of the loop for a while, and Anaheim's business practices seem a bit different than they used to be. How does AE operate these days, in terms of selling Mobile Suits and weaponry?"

Rhea tilted her head, "Huh? Don't you have friends in Anaheim from back during the Nu's development? Why come talk to me?"

"I would, but I can't get through to them." He shook his head, "They must have changed their contact information since then. Definitely normal and innocuous reasons, and not a contrived justification to have a named character receive worldbuilding exposition from another named character."

Amuro turned to stare the readers dead in the eye.

"…. Um, Mr. Ray?" Rhea asked, unsure what to make of such a bizarre statement, "Is there… something on the wall?"

"Just a second." He lifted a finger, indicating for her to wait a second longer while he had a staring contest with the plain beige wallpaper, "…Okay, I'm done. Nice fourth wall you have there."

"…Thanks?" She tried to laugh it off, "Anyways, you wanted to know Anaheim's selling practices today, right? Well, here's how we run things nowadays."

Rhea opened a drawer and began pulling out pamphlets, catalogs, and other materials, spreading them out on the desk between them.

"As you know, Mr. Ray, Anaheim has several dozen semi-autonomous divisions responsible for Mobile Suit development. These divisions were responsible for most sales of Mobile Suits up until the Laplace Incident. So, the only way to acquire a new Mobile Suit was to have a working relationship with one or more of these development teams, usually arranged by an executive working in the higher rungs of corporate."

Amuro nodded, "Yes, that's how I was able to develop the Nu. My contacts in Anaheim helped get me in touch with one of their major development teams."

"Exactly," Rhea continued, "So while Private Military Contractors, semi-autonomous regions on Earth, and Colonies were able to procure used Mobile Suits from the Federation and Salvage companies, there was no way to just straight up purchase new production Mobile Suits."

"…Are you telling me that anyone can just order a Mobile Suit from Anaheim now?" Amuro asked in alarm, eyes wide, "There's no way you people would be so irresponsible!"

"Now, Mr. Ray," Rhea wagged her finger at him, "It's not like we're running a car dealership here. We won't just sell such equipment to any old person that walks off the street! We have, however, greatly expanded our production capacity, and are using the excess to fulfill orders from a number of PMCs and local defense forces."

She pulled out a catalog and flipped to a page displaying a number of older models predating the Gryps War.

"There are plenty of organizations willing to purchase older designs." She tapped one of the listings, a GM Type C, "This one is a favorite. We don't actually assemble them, though, we sell them as kits in bulk. As for newer designs… well, that's decided on a case-by-case basis."

Amuro pondered the catalog for a moment, "I see. Thank you, Ms. Pagonis, this was very informative. Especially for our readers."

"…Mr. Ray, what are you even talking about?"

Note: This is possibly the first of a series of sidestories of... dubious canon status. Actual update coming next, probably tomorrow.

Amuro Psychoframe-infused Dakimura.
Bright: "This illegally constructed Amuro merch will be coming with me."

The Coven "Noooooo! Don't destroy it!"

Bright: "Are you kidding? I'm going to make a fortune off this thing. Not because I need to, but because I can."

The Coven: "You feind"

Amuro: -Hits Bright- "this is going into the incinerator." -Looks at the Coven- "If your real White Meteor fans, you won't make any more bootleg merch!"

The Coven: "I... But?!..." -sigh- "Okay"

All was right in the universe once more, thanks to Amuro Rey, the White Meteor.

Chapter 43: Hathaway's Fall-Interlude
[X] Hong Kong Disneyland

If Sicilia wants Disneyland, then Disneyland she will get. This is non-negotiable. The fun shall be mandatory, to distract from war trauma.

"It's decided." You nod at Little Sis, "To Disneyland!"

It takes a bus ride across the bay, and before long you slowly approach the front gates of the famed amusement park. Sicilia is practically ecstatic, while you and the rest of the team look on in appreciation at the iconic train station and green gates. Well, you and your two longtime friends do. Lorelei, on the other hand…

"… I dunno…" she mutters, crossing her arms, "I don't think it measures up against Disney Island."

Eris shrugs, "Comparing a theme park built in the 21st Century to a whole Entertainment Colony? Seems a bit of a lopsided competition. Besides, this bad boy here is a classic."

"Wow!" Sicilia waves her arms excitedly at the crowd near the front gates, "It's so much cooler than Axis Disneyland!"

That makes everyone pause.

"…Come again?" Theo asks, stunned.

"Axis Disneyland." The small Cyber Newtype repeats, "I got to see it once. It was really small."

Of course it would be, Axis didn't have that much room to spare… wait, no, that isn't the issue here! There was a Disneyland park on Axis?!

Eris, the resident historian, seems just as dumbfounded as the rest of you. At your beseeching gaze, she just shakes her head helplessly. How did this not make it into the history books?!

U.C. 0093-Axis Interior

Bright led the squad onwards. They'd already lost a few men, but even though it was dangerous he wouldn't ask anyone to do something that he wouldn't do. Planting these nukes was of the utmost importance!

They emerged from the tunnel into a large open space, maneuvering their Petit-Mobiles to make room for the others heading up the rear. The cavern was dark and unlit, so it was impossible to tell what it was. Bright shone one of his spotlights into the darkness, but what he saw was… inconclusive.

"Captain!" One of his soldiers called out, "I found the next passage. This way!"

Bright nodded and made to follow. What he glimpsed in the black… that had to have been a trick of the light or his mind jumping to conclusions.

There was no way he just saw a large mockup castle.

Present Day-Hong Kong Disneyland

You smugly grin at the plebians forced to wait in line. You already splurged on tickets, why not go a little bit further and get fast passes? Honestly, it was their own fault.

Also the lines were hellishly long and you had less than a day. Like hell you were going to spend most of your time here in a line.

You pass through the jungle-themed queue, walking swiftly through the empty side while the other is packed with people back to back.

"Hey," Lorelei looked back at the rest of the team as you get closer to the front, "Have you all ever gone on a water ride?"

"No." You wrinkle your nose at the steadily-growing smell of chlorine, "Water slides and such don't play nice with Colony gravity."

She smiles, "Oh, then you're going to have a lot of fun."

You are soaked. The ride was fun, but being this wet is not. It's going to take a while to dry out.

Sicilia is practically giddy, though, and she keeps making animal noises in imitation of the ride's animatronics. So long as she's happy, you guess.

This park is super crowded. A sea of people, with the horizon taken up by fantastical scenery, colorful buildings and faux mountains. It's all smiles as far as you can see… well, as long as you're here, you might as well enjoy it.

You run to catch up to Sicilia, passing by a large Goofy animatronic that you're pretty sure is a repurposed Mobile Suit frame.

This place is pretty cool, you guess.

Lunch is good, a "savory" hot dog with themed foil wrapping and colorful condiments. Everyone else is happily digging in, but you… well, you were the one who bought all this stuff, including the big Mickey cup Sicilia is sucking down soda out of. You saw the prices.

"…Is the food situation on Earth really so bad that they have to charge so much for so little?" You ask yourself quietly. Sure, you knew that the Colonies were net-positive in terms of food production, and the reverse was true of the Earth, but the price of one hot dog here could feed a family of four on Cascadia!

Lorelei looks over your way in concern as you stare at your hot dog.

"Something wrong, Cybele?"

You shake your head, "Just thinking that I should appreciate what I have more, I guess…"

Taking a bite of the hot dog, you note that although it was colorful and marketed as "savory", it's only mediocre in terms of actual flavor. That must mean that the food here is cheaper than outside. Makes sense, people come here to have a good time, not eat. But if the prices here are more affordable than outside…

You look upon the smiling crowds with a new emotion. Pity. Pity for these Earthnoids. It must be hard, dedicating so much of their income to food. Places like this must make life more bearable…

You're sure to savor each bite of your hot dog. Food is precious.

All your life you'd heard of these famed "fireworks". Such things had never been permitted inside Cascadia due to the hazards they posed. Though now, seeing brilliant explosions of light synchronized to epic orchestral music?

You kind of wish your mother and Kaylen could have seen this with you…

"Big Sis!" Sicilia points to the colorful flashes filling the sky, "It's so pretty, isn't it?"

You return her smile with your own, leaning back and straightening your Mickey Mouse hat.

"Yeah. I guess it is."

It's quite late, but you've still got time before you need to be back at the Bellerophon. Spirits are high, you're feeling rather content… yeah, this was a good trip. Eris and Theo are laughing at a shared joke, each balancing a tower of themed hats atop their heads. Lorelei is sporting a shirt she found on a clearance rack, it commemorates a collaborative event between Londo Bell and Disney where LB licensed out Amuro's likeness for a kid's show about the One Year War.

Oh yeah, Amuro probably doesn't know that that exists, huh?

"Big Sis!" Sicilia tugs at your new Roger Rabbit T-Shirt, herself clad in a "Shrek 35" dress, "Can we go get dinner? I wanna MacDaniels burger!"

"I am kind of hungry, but the Captain needs us back in an hour. If we take too long…" You attempt to console her, but she shakes her head, her good mood threatening to fade into a temper tantrum.

"No! I want a MacDaniels burger!" She pouts, "I don't like the burgers on the ship! The buns are always too soggy!"

Well… maybe? Is your will strong enough to resist her puppy eyes? But since food outside the park is sure to be more expensive, a MacDaniels meal for everyone might just wipe out the rest of your paycheck!

[] Will not strong enough. Cave to her demands. To MacDaniels with you.

[] Your Will is as strong as Luna Titanium! You shall make haste back to the ship.

Note: This seems like a joke vote. It is not a joke vote. Do not concern yourself with being late to the Bellerophon, you will arrive on time no matter the vote. That being said, there are no major long-lasting consequences to going with one or the other.

[X] Will not strong enough. Cave to her demands. To MacDaniels with you.

Mostly to see the reaction to realizing just how overpriced theme park food is.

[X] Will not strong enough. Cave to her demands. To MacDaniels with you.

Must ignite a fire in cybele over the bullshit lack of standardized pricing on earth. Must have her reach the conclusion that earth is full of spinless pushovers too weak to damand competence and accountability from their governments. Must form the strongest most negative opinion of earth in the history of spacenoids and resolve to never return.

[X] Will not strong enough. Cave to her demands. To MacDaniels with you.

The call has been sent and it shall be answered. And with this new understanding, we shall help the Earthlings for their own good.
Also Sicilia used Pout, it was super effective.

Ok, so we shouldn't be late to returning from shore leave.

However,

1. Imouto

2. I'd like to see if McDaniels actually is a front for the Illuminati or the Buch concern or Mars Zeon or whatever.
