I thought Anno just dedicated himself to passion projects Khara funded, like Yuri on Ice or Shin Godzilla.

As far as I know, he's still President. Stalling the release of Evangelion 3.33 over arguably trivial dub matters is still a major decision for the company, so that probably had to go through some higher ups, Anno included. It's preposterous to suggest he was out of the loop for this utter farce.

The recent outburst of No-homoing of Shinji and Kaworu since the crappy new sub came out is, like, literally this game grumps bit.

Parody's still fucking dead.

This entire Twitter thread is hilarious

NERV also has an alarming fixation on doors that open in bizarre and confusing ways

So I ran across this little tweet recently, and I can't completely authenticate it, obviously, but I had to post it here anyway because it made me absolutely lose it with laughter for like five full minutes.

Specifically the line "The Film was meant to be taken seriously, you see." in reference to 3.0. There is not enough laughter in the WORLD to properly express what I feel about that sentiment. My scorn for that idea is so thick and tangible it is almost an entity.

EDIT: oh I see someone already Copy-pasted the whole thing. But anyway here's the originals.

I mean thats fine, but 3.33 actually made me give a shit about Eva again after that travesty that was 2.22, which looking back isn't a travesty because it set up the future butthurt masterfully.

It still comes at the expense of making the popular perception of Eva's characters as retroactive cliches unfortunately validated. And as I've experienced in my time as a Fire Emblem fan, that's not a price worth paying by any work.

Which upon I should ask - does the Netflix version have the subs? I can't bring myself to watch an inferior dubbed version. The fact that they won't show the Kaworu/Shinji romance particularly irritates me, the chucklefucks.

IIRC, the subs are an even more literal translation of the original Japanese, so you'll still be dealing with the 'worthy of my grace' bullshit.

Personally, I find the original German subs from 1999 to be the most accurate while still being sensical - problem is that
  1. khara doesn't seem to care for what came before;
  2. They're German; and
  3. You can't carry subs over one-to-one when dubbing
That reminds me I still have to rip the DVDs and preserve their data before they deteriorate. (yay backup rights!)

Are Nintendo the only sane Japanese corporation?

I mean, seriously, this borders on is pure stupidity.

I was about to have a chuckle at the notion that Nintendo wasn't guilty of this "behavior" that we've seen in every other Japanese corporation, apparently. Then someone beat me to the punch.

I stand by my point, but I'll rephrase that they're saner than most. They have been known to take their non-Japanese markets seriously into consideration - a feat studio khara is still unable to emulate.
