FYI, we can't that that extremely convenient loan if we marry one of her daughters (and Menodora is one of her daughters).
Not sure how you make that wife choice work alongside that financial decision.

Tally is very borked.
Unfortunately it looks like we're marrying the wife I didn't want (Menodora bint Ghaliya bint Hasna), so we can't take that 10 loan.
This also makes our tenement decision seem extremely financially unwise, unless I completely miscounted. This would have been better as a plan vote, IMO.

that ship full of spices are worth about what? can we get a general ballpark of what it should be, as a person from a merchant family we should know
 
Aw sad, we get the wife who is most certainly not on our side and is definitely part of a plan for the uh Ealim?
Guess we just hope that us getting fucked over is not part of the plan, but the weak nature of the alliance plus the inexperience of our protag is not a good look for that. Lets hope tho!

I mean, bottom line, we still get to "lead out house to glory" in that case, if through less than glorious means.

And the loyalty to the adopted homeland... eh.
Only worth as much as the bling it can get us, and chances are, there isn't all that much bling in staying loyal here.

Best case, we get to use the resources from the alliance to establish a monopoly on spice through the trade route.
Monopoly is love, monopoly is life.

Yeah, picking her is a mistake IMO, don't get to take the cheap loan and get a relatively lesser dowry. I am worried about the moneylenders, the trade route will barely cover our interest and we don't get enough to pay it off. We also potentially have other debts... with Melita we'd have been debt free essentially, which is why I picked her.

the problem is that if I'm not mistaken, next turn we are gonna have to pay 10 wealth, 4 for upkeep, 4 interest, and 2 for debt to the city. we start the turn with 4 from the dowry and an X amount from our current fleet(no idea if the one from the dowry starts producing money at the start of the next turn) meaning that even if we manage to pay the minimum of what we owe, the dowry's money went down the toilet and we are almost in the same situation we began.

Exactly, however, Hiritt + Hansa's loan would have been safer and cleared us out of trouble.

All we need is to pray to the god of cubes. Then our path will give us 6 money and we can easily pay off debts.
