Gold and Treachery - A Trade Magnate Quest

[X] Alert the city watch to have him apprehended. (Very likely to apprehend him and the ship. Will very likely cause a scandal.)

please I beg you all to chose the sensible option this time, no more Hasna bullshit, please.

[X] Let him flee and ask Ghaliya bint Nur bint Hasna for help. (???)

I'm just curious to see what happens.
And we are a family, at a time when family ties are very strong.
I am sure that Sarrut will meet with "unexpected" pirates, or fall on the knife 28 times.

We are already significantly in her debt, let's not make it so she can make the leash any tighter.

He took several coffers with him while he fled those might contain some of the stolen wealth and be recovered if he is arrested.

What leash are we talking about?
At a fairly decent banquet, the young head of a noble house, whose history goes back centuries, agreed with the head of a foreign family that he would marry the head's adopted (!) Daughter. And according to the old traditions, he will receive a given gold + a galley + a trade contract. The head of a foreign house receives connections in the city and prestige, for kinship with a noble house.

And where did you find the leash here? All that she gave us is now ours. If she tries to return it, her reputation will be destroyed.

And why would she do that? We are FAMILY is not a simple sound.
If we need help, she is obliged to provide it, or to do everything possible, if she needs help, we are obliged to do our best.

Yeah, no. We need to get him NOW, before he has a chance to squirrel away all the wealth he stole from us. My guess as to why the previous head was murdered was that he found out about the conspiracy, but was isolated enough he could be dealt with. This time the sakellarios knew our new family would help us out, unlike the fair weather friends our brother had.

Every now and then, she would hesitate before asking a question, or pointedly march past a given shop, usually the most disreputable looking ones, despite clearly wanting to have a look at their wares too. Had she the same impression of?
"of you"? Something is missing.
And when it was no the captains, then it was dock workers, warehouses and traders.
"not"
"You wanted to go to one of the bazars?"
"bazaars"
"I have not that much experience with the bookkeeping yet and Sarrut is too busy keeping things working to make it less of a mess.", you quietly muttered.
"This makes no sense.", she finally stated, and you could wholeheartedly agree.
And here.", her finger stabbed at a line that probably was talking about water rations having been bought.
"Gladly.", she spoke while her eyes were still waiting for something.
"Not quiet.", she replied while standing up straight again before she begun to pace slowly.
Dot-quotatuion marks-comma are used to separate direct speech from the following sentence instead of just comma-quotation marks. The proper grammar is:
"Gladly," she spoke [...]
If that if a matter of style, I can omit these kinds of reports.
The days after were quiet different from before.
He too had not spent much thought to the fleet, but unlike Andros before him, he also seemed to have spent the funds of House Lipern quiet fast.
"quite". quiet = soft, discreet; quite = somewhat, rather / totally
Both of you were rather grateful that the public eye had quickly wandered on from your union, leaving you more time to get used to thought of marriage.
"to the thought"
Apparently Minuwrios wanted to restore House Liperns station
"Lipern's"

We knew we were going to be a junior partner in this relationship, and we should strive to be a useful one. We are more useful to her with both our reputation and money intact.

Close vote, eh? Hopefully we'll get good diplo/intrigue rolls to help mitigate reputation loss.

Even bad publicity can be turned into good if handled right.

As for how, my guess would be that we need to catch him first then punish him to the maximum extent of the law.

Which does raise an interesting question, is theft of this magnitude punishable by death and if so can we lobey to be the ones to administer it.

I am hoping for a nice wealth return, i hope we can get some of that, it'd be a massive boon.

So if sarrut was cheating us what are the odds he killed our cousin for finding out about the deception and burned any notes he left behind?

Whelp. Ah another Azel quest where everything is on fire.

Let's see if QM has too much faith in his voters. God's know I can't keep up his schemes in Viserys quest. :V

Glad to see maximum FUCK YOU option was chosen. Spite is totally a valid long term strategy right?

My gut feeling is half yes and half "it has to be more complicated than that right???"

Also wanted to comment on something (maybe too obvious to everyone else)

"Marry one of my adopted daughters, and I will make sure that the bridal price makes your worries disappear." If you kept your face under control at those words, you could not tell, but she made no sign that she noticed your surprise. "The people of Alumahi care nothing for our ways and traditions. To them, the adoption means nothing. They will see only who my daughter was before she joined my family and so they will see my Menodora as perfectly acceptable, Deucallian cattle. In the east though, they will understand, and you will find many doors open to you by tying our houses together."

Hansa re Marrying Her Adopted Daughter: "Oh don't worry she's totes mc goats my daughter but no one will care and you'll get the perks with no drawbacks!" with some "those other Alumahi are too barbaric to get it, except you, you special man."

What the power brokers in the city actually think:

Alumahi – Great Houses / Sibu – 0
To the Sibu, your houses name has lost most of it's lustre. The time where they were proud to house your family in defiance of Panikes will are long gone and your association with the Ealim is eroding what little goodwill you had left.
+2 from Lipern Legacy
-2 from Ealim Marriage

Not to mention our immediate money problems would've been in much better condition if we just took a loan instead...

And they can fall just as quickly by the works of the insidious and the incompetent.

*looks at recent events*

It is possible that it'll be as you say, and it's just gonna be a demerit. But that's a game of chance.

One that's better than the alternative, which is Sarrut fleeing with our ship, and any information as to why he was doing this.

My bet's on Panike, or somebody influential from there. Nothing is best for them than to see our House hobbled like this.

But our house fled years ago no? The house was already weakened when it fled to the city. We're hated by the people there, but we have no political relevance to Panike at this point. Why bother expending the effort?
