[X] "Look, you never hear about the people who don't start trouble, because that's the point. That goes for anybody."
-[X] "Just... let me see if your daughter got any photos that could end up with me in trouble, and then I can get out of your hair."

You sigh. Killing in self defense was one thing, but murder... You couldn't bring yourself to attack these people. You wouldn't be a monster, even in the name of self defense, not yet at least.
"Look," You say wearily. "You never hear about the people who don't start trouble, because that's the point . That goes for anybody."
"Right, of course of course." The father said as he sweated nervously. It was strange seeing people stare at you like this. You'd never seen fear like this from a human, even when you were starved, mom was never afraid of you. These people looked like they were face to face with a monster.
You sighed "Just...let me see if your daughter has any photos that could get me in trouble, and then I'll get out of your hair."
"Sam, give the lady your camera." Harold ordered.
Sam looked down at the camera with unease. "You're not going to break it, are you?"
"Sam now is not the time!" The mother shouted.
"I spent a lot of money on this camera. And she's not going to eat us." Sam seemed to be the only one who was no longer scared of you. Nervous maybe but she had stopped acting like she was caught in a pit of lions.
With reluctance, she turned over the camera. You browsed through it's memory. It was mostly just random pictures of people on the street and occasionally pictures of places like Heinz Field. She had only snapped two pictures of the fight. One was a burely shot of Alexa after you had slammed him against the wall, the second was a picture of Jess, her face twisted in terror. None of you, not so much as a leg or tentacle.
You handed the camera back. The boy fled immediately, shortly followed by his mother.
"For what it's worth." Harold said as he walked out with his daughter "You seem like a decent person."
"Thanks." You replied evenly.
Soon it was just you in the alleyway, you and the corpse of Alex. You eyed it cautiously. Mom had told you ghouls would prey on their own just as much as humans. She told you that to keep you safe, so that you would never wander off in search of your own kind. But now you were here, with the body of a ghoul. And you found yourself curious.
Homeless man in a dark and trash filled alley, not exactly the most appealing place to eat but you always suspected you'd be doing something like this if mom's supply ever ran out completely.
You grab one his arms.
It tastes unpleasant. It wasn't physically sickening like any human food was, but it wasn't exactly something you enjoyed eating. It tasted like it had just expired earlier that day, and had been dropped in a muddy field repeatedly.
After two bites, you gave up. There was no point in this, extra food would have been nice but you weren't desperate and was not worth the effort and disgust. You rip off the arm, last thing you wanted was a particularly eaten corpse being traced back to you.
You stuffed the remains into a dumpster. The arm goes into your backpack. You would probably end up just disposing of it later but it would do in a pinch of something happened to the supply next week.

The walk home was quiet. Thankfully you had only a bit few drops of the Ghoul's blood on you, and the backpack did well to hide the massive gash your Kagune had ripped in your shirt and hoodie. Your hair was in a mess and dust and dirt covered much of clothing. You looked like a mess but most people wouldn't give you more than a glance.
You weren't troubled by your actions, only by the fact that it had happened in the first place. That ghoul had forced your hand, it had to be done. A family saved, a wild dog put down, most people wouldn't find fault with that.
The thief, Jess had escaped though. That was troubling, she couldn't go to the police. Well she could but it wouldn't amount to anything, she had no evidence and her account would have to be drastically altered to avoid mentioning the fact she was working with a ghoul, which was rather illegal.
A ghoul and human working together, you'd never heard of that before, outside of your mom and you of course. It was interesting to see, though it was a shame the two had been on a such a criminal path. You had hoped your first contact with your kind would have been more pleasant but really, it was expected. Humanity stereotyped Ghouls as vicious monsters who lurked in the shadows, preying upon humanity. Stereotypes like that exist for a good reason.
It was completely dark when you arrived at the apartment block. Mom was not going to be happy.
You and your mother looked nothing alike. She was black, with short dark hair. You were pale with long blonde hair that went down your back. Temperament wise, she had never been as serious as you tended to be, but she could be strict when she wanted to be.
You walked in normally, trying to sneak in would have been pointless and only angered her.
"You're late." She called out from the kitchen.
"I know, I know." You replied wearily "I was held up."
"If class ran late you could have called. It would have spared me some worry-"
Your mother walked into the hallway, stunned by your appearance. "Is that blood?"
You looked down at the dried spot of blood on your left knee.
"I-Yeah it's a."
She ran towards you and grabbed you in a tight pressing hug.
"Are you okay? What happened?!" She asked
What do you tell your mom?

I should note Alicia has absolutely no idea that eating other ghouls could make her stronger.
