TheNotoriousSMP post on the last page got the updated tally. And the vote is now closed. Once more I will give a +5 to anyone who wants to do a final tally.
But lets get to Guang Li Rolls, today we have quite a few.
We'll start with the easy, refining his blood. Li has a cultivation skill of 3 and a wis of +4. so he rolls 3d10+4 and doubles the result because of fire Qi.
The alchemy roll is smellier to the one last turn, 1d10+3 (for int) to be spent on pills/elixirs.
But now we get to the interesting, the combat mission. Combat missions have a fixed reward of contribution points. In this case 20. But they carry risk of injury. They also have a chance of ran additional reward form butchering the corpse of what you hunted, this could be cc or a consumable that gives some bonus, or even just alchemy metrical.
The way this works is that Guang Li rolls 2 combat checks against DC 30 (decided by level of the mission) one check of strength and one of dexterity, every 3 below the DC (but at least 1 if he didn't meet it) results in 1 HP of damage (attack actions taken by ghosts are added here). Afterwards we have 1 roll for the butchering Guang Li doesn't have the skill so normally this would be pure int, but he can substitute alchemy by halving his total "score" and influencing the spoil to alchemy related stuff.

Shop (requires 15 votes to buy something)
CCC- 6.
[] Pay the fee for one of the hall exams (required to get accepted by a hall) for 20 CC.
-[] The Alchemy hall. (medium alchemy skills)
So shitlisted hallexam price:The shit list- all shop costs rise by 50% (the shop costs is the base cost to make it easy for alchemy calculation).

6 CC from previous turnsA roll of 1 (4 with int) in spoils would have given you just 2 extra CC but with a 7 (10 with int) you get 1 rare alchemy ingredient and 3 extra CC.
Always room for more!Do you have room for another ghost or is Guang Li exploding with necromantic energy already?
I'll throw it on looking to the stars for hidden knowledge. Seems like as good a place as any to put it.
sure thing, the current vote is closed, but feel free to participate starting next turn.Do you have room for another ghost or is Guang Li exploding with necromantic energy already?
with the first level being 30 its unlikely.I'll throw it on looking to the stars for hidden knowledge. Seems like as good a place as any to put it.
Also with it being doubled from fire qi use, Li's blood refining gets 52 progress which is pretty damn good! Might even be enough to get him to the next level of it thanks to what we got as well!
Between what we ghosts got and what Li got we'll have 58 progress towards the next level of blood refining. So if the next stage is twice as difficult then we are only one roll away even if we don't use fire Qi, and if it's less than twice as difficult (say 1.5x as difficult) we've got it in the bag. Honestly I'm fine either way.with the first level being 30 its unlikely.
But its probably going to be reachable with minimal work.
Like , a single roll possible.
So thats fun.
Is it a good idea to only refine one portion of the body in advance of the rest of the Form? I figure, blood vessels are fine (they're spread evenly through the body), but what if we get a situation where Li's muscles are like steel, but he can't flex or his very mortal bones break from the strain.Between what we ghosts got and what Li got we'll have 58 progress towards the next level of blood refining. That is a very good question actually. I don't know the answer, but it's something we might want to know so that we don't mess up Li's body in the pursuit of power. Is it a good idea to only refine one portion of the body in advance of the rest of the Form? I can already tell you that its very likely that clearing the meridian is going to be one Guang Li actions next turn and he's going to use the pill if he dos. And as he gets to add his wis modifier the roll is 1d10+3 which means he only needs a 3 or above.Okay, so our Meridian DC is down to 8 from our efforts last turn, but Guang just made a meridian pill which gives a +2 bonus to the first meridian clearing attempt next turn, so if we tried for a yin meridian on that roll we would only need a 6 or higher which has a 72% success rate.
Would he be smart about it and use Yin Qi if available?I can already tell you that its very likely that clearing the meridian is going to be one Guang Li actions next turn and he's going to use the pill if he dos. Yeah. The funny thing about the cheat is that it basically translates to letting him speedrun having a very solid foundation. He's got body cultivation, he's got blood cultivation, he's doing all of his cultivation with high-payoff qi types, he's building a broad foundation of skills, and he isn't really dependent on anything external. At any given tier, he looks like a guy who put in a lot of effort to get everything he could out of that tier before advancing, but it's the ghosts doing it instead. Our Boy did great on his Alchemy roll. He might not be some great talent or Heaven Defying Genius, but at least he has his foundational skills.
I think it doubles the benefits without doubling the cost increase? What is the benefit of using Yin Qi for meridian clearing? Maybe I missed it but I don't recall what it does for that action
Doubles the benefit without changing the cost/DC for further levels. What is the benefit of using Yin Qi for meridian clearing? Maybe I missed it but I don't recall what it does for that action
In a turn of events, we don't need the Sect's power (and in some regards, not even their knowledge). What Li needs is their logistics and friends, both for regular interaction and eventually political maneuvering to hunt the Clans' killer(s).
Do you think that's part of the reason the bloodline is aligned with Yin Qi? There's no other way to handle the mental strain unless a person goes for the really exotic Qi types, which wasn't possible in the early history of the clan?Old ghosts are constantly just adding knowledge directly to his brain while he sleeps, and, of course, he's a nexus for every old family dispute about proper cultivation techniques ever.
So Li would unlock 2 meridians if he succeeds while using Yin Qi? Yeah, I can see the benefits of that. Fortunately we have a bit of the stuff saved up so him using it isn't a problem.Doubles the benefit without changing the cost/DC for further levels.
So more bonus to Qi gathering for the same level of meridian cleaning effort. (And a higher ceiling)
