I mean, I wasn't entirely serious, but might as well try it, right?

[x] [Experiment] My lightsaber would work better if it existed. Upgrade.

...You guys are aware that we could probably make a laser sword (possibly a lightsaber, if we work at it) out of a cheap laser pointer if given enough time, right? It's not that hard with conventional Upgrades to the beam intensity and coherence.

...lightsabers aren't lasers. And laser swords are practically a contradiction in terms.

Yeah, but lightsabers are also a huge pain in the ass overall. And not if we engineer it to stop being a coherent beam at a fixed distance, it's not. It's not like they don't lose coherence as they go further anyways.

But this way we get to fuck with the very nature of meaning and logical consistency. If we can make this trick work for a lightsaber, imagine what else we could make it work for. :D

Actually, now that I think of it, I've got a weird idea. We're looking at unusual intangible targets of the upgrade, but what about upgrading particularly unusual qualities?

Specifically, we should get something we know we like better than our sister, I don't know, a tool, a stuffed animal, a specific video game, something that we have interest in that Celes does not not. Then we gift said thing to her. We do our best to be as official as possible about it, we use Skye as an impartial witness, we get a contract written out stating that Celes owns it and has no intention of transferring it back into our possession, and we physically have her hold it - or, if we find a way to target it still, we have her put it in a box or a safe of her stuff. It's important here that she has no intention of using whatever it is. Then we target whatever it is. Celes has not and will not use it for it's intended purpose, we will. It cannot serve it's function if it isn't used at all. It would thus fulfill its function better if it were ours.

Is possession/ownership a vector on which we can upgrade? If so, I think that understanding of who is going to use the object more/better is critical to it working. I think most likely this will do nothing, but it might move it into our physical possession or perhaps even make it so we "officially" own it again, and if that last one is true, we could potentially steal from all the museums with far less risk than we might otherwise.

[][Experiment] Find or put something into Celes' possession in as solid and legitimate a way as possible (create/find receipts, draw up contracts, have witnesses, etc.), something that Celes has no interest in but we do. Celes will not use it, but we would. It would fulfill the role it was designed for better if it were being used. Thus, it would work better if it were ours. Upgrade.

Is that a vote that makes sense?

You guys are repeating a lot of experiments we already did. Take a moment to look at the experiment list and see what has and hasn't worked. Here's some of the repeated ones:

[X][Experiment] Use Analysis on the TV computer. Specifically, when it's showing Capes using their powers.

=/
You have the vague feeling you'd have better luck with a significantly better method of viewing and/or recording. The on-screen footage seems to be missing at least one important piece of information. Probably more.
[x] [Experiment] Upgrade: Maps are intended to represent the world. Better maps are more up-to-date. Upgrade until it's near-realtime.

>_>
Failure? You feel like you're close-ish...
Also, on Overdrive:
Overdrive's primary purpose is to increase the magnitude of upgrades at the cost of destroying affected objects at the end of that time.

She was hidden within a pocket dimension inside an alternate reality, and was excited to be chosen by us after we "hit ALL THE BUTTONS" and crashed the Sentinel. This is exactly what she signed up for. :D

Eager? Maybe. But Upgrade is still confused by dense enough technobabble, or by twisted logic.

Putting my support behind these:

[X] [Experiment] Changeling Garb Megaproject
[X] [Experiment] Write a description of your powers and then upgrade its accuracy and completeness.
[X] [Experiment] Upgrade how effective upgrades are on an object.

I doubt we can get that last one, it'd be a relatively short path to godhood, but it's still worth trying.

[ ] [Experiment] A body that needs less food to function just as well is more efficient. Upgrade.
[ ] [Experiment] See if you can upgrade your immune system (and body) to be more resistant to diseases in general.
[ ] [Experiment] Try a general Upgrade on your body and mind. Check if it's any different from other personal upgrades.

Edit: Added vote below.

Due our nature of our bodies (Things 1 & 2 overlaid by alternate human forms), I'm curious to see if Upgrade can function just as well on us. Likely yes, since we already tested and found out we can reduce our need for sleep-
[x][Experiment] Upgrade: A body+mind that needs less sleep is better.

(O_O)
Valid upgrade.
-but some confirmation would be good.

Upgrading ourselves is something we're certainly going to be doing, if only because it's an upgrade that will always remain useful, but we'll probably have to wait until we're done with the Improved MGs project to do that.

I think we still need to do a backpack of holding and Master Key experiment
[X] [Experiment] Keys are made to open locks, thus a Key that can open any lock is superior, Upgrade
[X] [Experiment] Backpacks are made to carry items, thus a backpack that had more space to store items in is superior, Upgrade.

I assume that Upgrade can just apply directed modifications to the inherent properties of something and not properties that arise from others.

E.g If we had a gold coin we wouldn't be able to upgrade its value such that it directly makes the countries of the world pass a law declaring gold coins legal tender. At best we could apply an effect to the coin that makes it mind control people into considering it legal tender.

I would guess that if we did something like the test you suggested what would happen is that the toy would seek out or ask for people that actually appreciate it.

These sound good.

Am I being blind or did noone really think to add built in air-conditioning to changeling garb? Something like protection from desert heat.

Desert heat? Just desert heat?

[X] [Experiment] Changeling Garb Megaproject
-[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in all natural weather. Natural weather is basically another way of saying environmental conditions. Changeling Garb is therefore supposed to maintain comfortable environmental conditions. Therefore, Changeling Garb should be able to protect against negative environmental conditions, maintaining an optimum state for the wearer.
--[X] If this works, it should cover all the below options.
--[X] Also, impending harm is an environmental condition. Changeling Garb is meant to protect against negative environmental conditions.
-[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in all natural weather. Supercells are a natural kind of weather so it should protect against the intense winds found in such. Upgrade.
-[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in all natural weather. Arctic and Antarctic chill is a natural kind of weather so it should protect against the freezing cold found in such. Upgrade.
-[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in all natural weather. Hailstorms are a natural kind of weather so it should protect against the impacts of hail (reminder - baseball-sized objects at terminal velocity) and similar energetic objects. Upgrade.
-[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in all natural weather. Solar wind is a natural kind of weather so it should protect against the radiation released by it. Upgrade.
-[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in all natural weather. Geomagnetic storms are a natural kind of weather so it should protect against the electromagnetic fields generated by them. Upgrade.
-[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in all natural weather. Torrential downpours are a natural kind of weather, so Changeling Garb should protect against the effects of torrential downpours, especially resistance to fluid forces like what happens when cars try to go through flooded roads and get wrecked.
-[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in all natural weather. Tsunamis are, to some degree, natural weather. Therefore, Changeling Garb should be capable of withstanding a tsunami.
--[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in all natural weather. If tsunamis are natural weather, earthquakes are natural weather. Therefore Changeling Garb should be able to withstand earthquakes.
-[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in all natural weather. Hurricanes and tornadoes are natural weather. Therefore, Changeling Garb should be capable of withstanding hurricanes and tornadoes.
-[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in natural weather. A thunderstorm (or thundersnow storm) is natural weather. Therefore Changeling Garb should be able to withstand a direct lightning strike and all the components thereof (heat, electricity, concussive force, light...).
-[X] Changeling Garb is designed to be comfortable in natural weather. A volcanic eruption is natural weather. Therefore Changeling Garb should be able to withstand a volcanic eruption.
--[X] If tsunami and earthquake didn't work earlier, argue that they proceed from the same (plate tectonics) causes as volcanic eruptions can, and therefore are natural weather. Then repeat the previous logic chains.
-[X] Nuclear explosions, while generated through human work, cannot be said to break the laws of nature or reality in general. If nuclear explosions cannot be said to break the laws of nature or reality, then they must be natural. Weather affects cities. Nuclear explosions also affect cities. Therefore nuclear explosions can be considered natural weather. Therefore Changeling Garb should protect against nuclear explosions.

If anyone's interested, please vote for the Megaproject. It could use the votes for more allotted time.

IIRC there's also Project votes, which are distinct from Experiment votes?

I'm thinking for our Projects:

1. Upgrade Evelyn's Body to within limits of reality.
2. Upgrade a mundane weapon to supremacy; Ideally a blunt weapon, so nonlethal is easily done.
3. Upgrade Cloaking Device from Progenitor to supremacy.

[X] [Experiment] Attempt Analysis/Comprehend on some program code (something simple, to start). Attempt the same on program code with errors, and attempt to use Upgrade/Repair on broken code to fix it. (Argumentation: The problems in a code defy it's original purpose. [x] [Experiment] My lightsaber would work better if it existed. Upgrade.
Fun lateral thinking.
