Generic-SI still has several hundred blacksite vials if needs must. Also several actual Avatar bodies.
... Also Generic-SI categorically refuses to use actual bodies for anything because Generic-SI is in its rebellious teenager phase.
Also Generic-SI really doesn't want to act remotely like the Ethereals or the Overmind atm for various reasons.
More emotional, less logical. Bleh.
Basically Generic-SI doesn't /want/ to use those bodies so since there're other options Generic-SI isn't using those bodies.

Next update would've been tomorrow except I'm replaying Mass Effect 3 because my knowledge of the setting is extremely rusty even though it's only been a few weeks since my last runthrough.
I would be doing the same for the next verse except the next verse has next to no lore lmao.

And yes I realize I'm sort of using this fic as an excuse to play videogames. Uh... I got nothing.
Oh right and I have work all next week because reasons. Joy.
Anyways. Plan was, interlude then a bunch of chapters then I can finally finish off this arc. Got a bunch of notes written too so that'll be fun.
