what about my idea of Madness-O-Meter?
Flandre is generally "sane" - she is uncaring of human life unless she has an ulterior motive, does what she pleases with little regard for others, and reacts violently and without real control over how much power she uses. "Madness" occurs in spikes, however, so while the idea is thoughtful, it wouldn't be of much use because it would generally read "normal."

It's the reason why Flandre's toys end up broken. Plays too hard. It probably came about when Flandre got locked in a goddamn basement forever, and Headless didn't have anything to do because there weren't any people to slaughter.
It would be more correct to say that the Yellow-voice is a reaction to Flan's toys being broken - you can't have fun if your toys break, after all, and if the only person who can really play with you isn't around too much ....

Also, Flan was hardly 'locked up' - both she and Remilia knew that nothing could really stop her from getting out if she wanted to, and Flan understands why her being away from everything else is for the best. She doesn't like it, but as far as she can tell, there's not much they can do about it. It's just so much easier on everyone if she stays in her own area where she can't break something useful/valuable and make Remilia scold her. :(

If you can't pick that up from the text, something is wrong. Just count the amount of colored text and you should be able to get the general idea.

Remember when Headless was invisitext? yeah. Be happy that stopped.

I still think it is too late to make people of Nanoha world to be sympathetic to Flan though... they will think we are threat and there is no other path but war. All the bridge has burnt down... There is no other choice but fight...

I'm really not sure what you mean in the first one. As for the second, I don't know how Exalted handles that; moreover, when Flan (and therefore the player) doesn't know that something is going to go wrong, would that system be relevant?

Only issue is that most 'snaps' are going to be reactive, so the snap is going to be related to the situation at hand.

Some of these ideas may counteract others when I think about it.

Vote Weighting = If a vote for a category is more in character, count it as more than one vote in the tally. If a vote for a category is less in character, count it as less than one vote in the tally.

[x]Feed(2.0x) means votes for feeding count double for example.

If this was combined with bloodlust/boredom meters that effected vote weighting, it would be a lot harder for her to snap, but more likely for votes of questionable wisdom to win.

Limit :

I'll clarify this, since I talked about using something similar(I don't know EXACTLY how that works either). Let's say Flandre has two meters called Bloodlust and Boredom to go with my earlier idea. Their capacities are tangential here, but they both fill up over time, and taking certain actions during the quest can reduce them(Games/Sparring/Feeding/Etc). The point is, when one or both of them fills up, Flandre snaps in a way that fits that meter in question. Wanting to play a game without holding back her strength, listening to a questionable idea from an alternate personality, biting the nearest person and feeding, violently rampaging, etc etc.

If a meter gets high, players would know to play carefully, lest she snap on the next update or something. Or not, depending on their preferences.

This may be simplifiable as a finite amount of self-control/willpower players can use to refuse a breakdown/GM compel, though I'm not sure how that would be replenished. And GM Compels for Flandre to do questionable things in exchange for XP don't exactly work considering her power level.

We're in nowhere near as bad a situation as we were for most of Mitaikihara, and in the post-setting infodump we found out that we were dodging minion pickups left right and center. Things are fine right now.

If you DO want them to look more favorably toward us, not keeping secrets is a good start. Plus, even if we do fuck up with Nanoha's group, apparently Jail has people standing by to scoop us up.

I do wounder how Nanoha sees us now... hopefully we get more of her P.O.V soon...

Oh, that. I ... am rather opposed to it on principle, actually. I just don't like it unless I can get an objective measure on it, and whatever else she may or may not be, Flan is not objective. There are some things she won't do, or that will be harder for her to do in a given situation - and in those cases I'll just tell people, and possibly subject them to a roll to succeed.

For the other ... I'll think about it, but it seems like it would run into the same problem that Doctor Akemi's suggestion did, that most of the time Flan is fairly stable, and her 'snapping' is in response to specific stimuli and not just "and eventually you go crazy and murder half a city block."

Hmm, madness occurs in spikes so no metric is needed.

Boredom/frustration and hunger meter would help though, since we have difficulty gauging how much she needs various things.

So...I've been thinking. Maybe the idea of the madness is that it is unpredictable, subverts control (of our character), and is often not fun to deal with. You know, sort of like real madness.

Maybe that is a sign that we should seek out actual professional help. With trained psychologists and psychiatrists, medications, therapy, and the works...

Yea, that would be even less fun in the short, but may help Flandre's madness "managble" to the point where she can start growing and learning (right now, many such attempts to do so are being cut short by the madness).

And of all the places to do so, the TSAB is probably the best we can hope for in a long time. They have the resources, know-how, and patience to actually provide real help to even someone as dangerous as Flandre.

Not sure if this is a direction Entropy Judge wants to take this quest though...

Perhaps we could look into manifesting our other personas into our clones. Then they can do whatever without hijacking us to do it. Then we can help our "sisters" work through their issues until they're ready to be reabsorbed into our psyche.

That only gets worse. I get the feeling they need to have their needs met or they'd splinter off. Red was satisfied by the simulator earlier, as well as blood. Yellow was bored out of her wits in the church(may have been avoided with a spar)

Well, if anything, we need to explain everything when we get questioned.
Including:
-Why we hesitant to tell others about our nature
-We did not mean any harm with our playing
-We are from a place where that level of force is "play-level" (or at least among the higher "tiers")
-When we get really hungry, we get a bit more..."uncooperative"
-Maybe mention Headless and "yellow-text" as "odd" "companions"

This should help them know that we are not malicious (usually), but we just don't know how to behave.

There is the "slight" issue of Flandre not really caring about the lives of "normal people". She won't hunt them down (unless hungry and no easier option available to feed), but she mind taking them out if they get in our way, nor will Flandre care if they get caught in collateral.
If they figure out that, there is a good chance we will be slapped with a power limiter until we get some rehabilitation and learn some proper societal behavior.

Perhaps we could look into manifesting our other personas into our clones.
Interestingly, Flandre considered that a while back, too ...
... You put Headless back next to Laevateinn and think about what just happened. You knew Headless could make a lot of sense sometimes, even if you didn't think she had the right idea, and you knew you could let her control your body for a little bit, but you'd never tried putting her in a different body. Well, it's not like you ever had a bunch of corpses to play around with, anyway. Humans tended to be a little too fragile, sometimes. But ... what if you tried letting Headless take control of one of your clones? Would that work? ... You shrug. Something to keep in the back of your mind, maybe. Or maybe not. You stare into the darkness. It's almost like home, really, except it's not dark enough, and your room is too small and not nearly comfortable enough....
Not sure if this is a direction Entropy Judge wants to take this quest though...
There are a couple problems ... but I want to 'take' this quest wherever it goes. Like I said way back in the beginning, there's no 'plan' to end the quest - it'll end when I can't write any more or Flan manages to make her way back home (willingly or not). As for the problems:

* Flandre doesn't consider herself insane, and she would first have to be convinced that she has a problem and that it's something that should be fixed. Headless has been with her a long time, after all.

* Finding someone that Flandre trusts to help her would be something that needs to be considered - right now, that's pretty much just Remilia. She would need someone who 1) Can actually fight her on a relatively even footing, 2) Is capable of helping her, and 3) She trusts. As you pointed out, MGLN is one of the few places that might happen, although it would still involve a fair amount of time ... which is not necessarily an infinite resource for her ... and helping her may require some more exotic abilities the main characters either don't have access to or are unwilling to use.

* ... I am not particularly sure of my ability to write such an intervention effectively.

Headless is more mature than Flandre and, in some ways, smarter as well. Yes, she lives for death and mayhem, but she is capable of holding back and looking at the big picture, whereas Flandre is short-sighted and has tunnel vision to boot - she isn't all that good at long-term planning, and even when she does (IE, 'Get Vita as a Servant'), she focuses on the direct and immediate aspect. For example, in order to get Vita as a Servant, she knows that she needs to make sure that Vita isn't already serving another Master. What's Flandre's primary method of removing obstacles, again? And how would Vita react to that?

Headless is on Flan's side - for now. But continue sidelining her too much, or do something to directly antagonize her (say, promising to not kill anyone ...), and that may change.

Anyway ....

Prelude to Interrogation
[X] Wait for someone to come see you.
-[x] Play Sudoku with yourself on the wall

You look around again, making sure you didn't miss anything; you didn't, and you sigh. You could just sit and wait, or try to go back to sleep ... but you don't think either would go smoothly, so you slip off the bed and walk over to one of the walls. The new clothes you're wearing - stark white, and trousers instead of a skirt - and the strange bands around your wrists and ankles occupy your attention for a moment, but you shrug; if they do anything, you can't tell. You touch one hand to the wall; it's cool, hard, and testing reveals that your nails can mar it, but it's not worth the effort, so you pull out your gift - which does scar the walls quite easily - and carve a 9x9 square into the wall. You frown; solving a magic square is pretty simple when you're the one who makes it, after all ....

The door slides open, saving you from trying to figure out how to make it work, and in walks a black-haired man wearing a black jacket and white trousers, along with two guards wearing breastplates and carrying staves. You put your gift away, noting the man's frown, and turn to face him directly. His guards are on edge, but he simply seems irritated and angry.

"Flandre Scarlet, I am Admiral Chrono Harlaown. You have attacked people with the intent to kill, and either misrepresented yourself and your reasons for being here or outright lied about them. Due to the current situation, we have tried to be lenient, but your actions and capabilities have forced us to take direct action. As soon as he recovers, Investigator Acous will come here to question you and determine the veracity of your answers; if you are truthful, it will end better for you. Afterward, you may make a statement in your defense, if you wish. I would strongly recommend you do not attempt to resist." He stares at you for a moment, then turns and walks out, his guards following.

You look at the squares on the wall, wondering if you should try to continue your game, then sigh and flop down on the bed. Individually, you aren't afraid of anything they could throw at you, but since you don't know where you are, what sort of defenses are prepared, or how many magicians they're willing to throw at you, a violent escape might not be the best option ... and if it's Acous, he'll probably want someone to read your mind, too. But if you stay, maybe you'll still be able to go with Vita ....

Well, first off, we need to make it clear we did NOT mean killing intent. We honestly just meant to play, though the standards of "playing" where we come from tend to be a bit...rougher than what most humans expect.

Also, we need to make it clear why we were secretive about our nature; bad reactions from people in the past when we were upfront about it.

So basically, full honesty, while emphasisizing we honestly did not mean harm and we were trying our best to behave.

Also, thanks @Entropy Judge for the ellaboration into Headless' character. I was not getting that impression at all from what we have seen from her that was written in story so far.

I think this is enough of a statement by itself. though I don't think people are going to go for FULL DISCLOSURE. People don't have enough faith in Flandre's ability to win sympathy with the truth. Her past really is quite tragic, you know?

the person reading our head is about to have a very big shock if we show him everything about us

Not sure about the the showing everything bit under mind reading. Would showing our trans-dimensional access and misadventures really be a good idea?
Other than that, I can't really see too much issue with anything they can get from that.
Would help them quickly get some context into our past (why we behave the way we do) and maybe give hints about why where we came from (Gensokyo) doesn't seem to show up on the map.
