Damn it, Yuuka! Again
[X] She's not supposed to be out here, and she's been very provocative. Have her removed from the mansion.

"Yu- Yuuka -" The magician, paling and clutching her staff tightly, starts to say something, but breaks off and jerks her head toward you as you start speaking.

"Yuuka Kazami. You have trespassed beyond the areas where guests are allowed, of your own volition and intentionally. You have been provocative, hostile, and openly threatening toward guests. You are no longer welcome here. You will leave now." She blinks, unmoving. "Sakuya. This youkai has violated our hospitality. Escort her to the gate and see that she leaves." Sakuya bows.

"Yes, Lady Flandre."

"No." Your eyes narrow at Yuuka's refusal, Sakuya inhales sharply, and Mima trembles and works her mouth violently. "You aren't the head of this place. That's your sister, and the only person who can kick me out is her. So if you want me gone, then -" An emanation of power cuts her off, and a glowing circle inscribes itself in the ground around you. It takes less than a second, and then you're standing in the front lawn with your friends and servants, and Yuuka - both of them - and Mima. The Yuukas glance at each other, then one slides into the one who'd been talking to you. Remilia looks back and forth between you and Yuuka, surprised by your appearance, and walks toward you, leaving Nanoha and the others behind. Your clones notice that images of the scene are being displayed in all guest-accessible areas. The youkai couldn't have desired this - she was probably expecting a private discussion, or perhaps that you would back down instead of pushing through and forcing her to leave. She definitely wasn't expecting Patchouli's intervention … you aren't sure what you feel about the magician spying on you, but for this, you're at least somewhat grateful.

"… What, precisely, is going on?" Your sister's voice is quiet, but very obviously annoyed.

"She tried telling me to leave," Yuuka says, gesturing at you with an elbow - and Remilia's eyes widen before her head tilts ever so slightly to the side and she fixes her stare on Yuuka.

"So what are you still doing here, youkai?" Yuuka blinks, surprised at Remilia's response, and your clones notice the movement of several youkai toward the judging area. Aya, of course, although she looks more like she's doing it out of obligation rather than her own desire. Yukari, too, and Yuyuko, and Yukari looks furious about something. Remilia's simulacrum moves closer, following her sword-bearing companion. A green-haired youkai wearing some kind of uniform dress - a blue base with balanced red and white accessories. Yuugi, too, walks toward the area, frowning at Yuuka. "Flandre is my sister, youkai, not a subordinate or a guest - her authority here is precisely and entirely equal to my own. If she tells you to leave, you will leave." Yuuka scoffs.

"Now who's the youkai not acting properly, hm? Youkai are supposed to attack humans - that's what I was told by that babbler from Hell. Now you're protecting them! Trying to drive me away because I want to do what I'm supposed to do, what you're failing to do! So what if they die? So what if you die?" She lunges forward, parasol thrust forward at your sister. Nanoha and Fate, both still in the line of fire, stand as if ready to act, while Vita pushes in front of them, transformed and holding Graf Eisen protectively. "Well? What are you going to do? Be real youkai? Or be a fake like your sister?" Mima scrambles back, apparently desperate to disassociate herself from Yuuka, and the only thing keeping Yukari from advancing is - the simulacrum, who points to the militant youkai and pushes her in that direction. More important is the reaction of the rest of the youkai - the atmosphere chills noticeably, and you don't think anyone is supporting Yuuka.

It's not her position - no doubt there are youkai who wouldn't mind your sister's death, or who think that youkai should be terrorizing humans more frequently. But to openly threaten guests at a party? And the host? Remilia simply sighs and waves her hand to her side - toward the gate. "I will let you keep the dignity of removing yourself." Yuuka remains motionless for a moment, then straightens up and swings her parasol to a useable position, opening it mid-motion. Then she strides toward the gate, unhurried and seemingly unworried. You glance at Mima, who looks around fretfully, then bows to you and then Remilia before hurrying after Yuuka. Remilia watches them leave, then quickly walks up to you, plainly worried. "Are you alright?" You nod slowly.

"I'm … fine. Angry. She -!" Before you can launch into a tirade, your sister hugs you, wraps her wings around you, squeezes you tight. You hug her back, holding the embrace for nearly a minute before slowly releasing her. You smile tightly, then shake your head. Yukari is discussing something animatedly with the other youkai, but Yuyuko is frowning in the direction of the gate. "… She threatened Lulu and Ilya," you say quietly, just before Agito and Megane run past you to fuss over Lulu. Ilya sidles sideways to give them space, only to be ambushed by Illyasviel and Deis, who pull her aside. Only Satsuki and Sakuya are near you now, and Sakuya gently nudges your servant away, leaving you and your sister some semblance of privacy. Remilia's face plays out several expressions - irritation, tiredness, frustration, worry - before settling on weary resignation.

"I'll make arrangements so that she doesn't interfere with your trips, and I'll add some provisions for her coming here. Apart from that … she's proud, Flandre, prouder than you and me. She won't apologize, and I doubt she'll forgive this embarrassment. She probably won't try anything anytime soon, not unless it's subtle - she's not stupid, no matter how unstable she is - but in the future, if you leave the mansion, be careful, please." You nod and Remilia relaxes, smiling worriedly at you. "Thank you, my dear, wonderful sister." You smile back, but it falters when your clones relay the guests' mood to you.

"Did … did I ruin the party?" Remilia blinks, then smiles warmly and shakes her head.

"No, no, Flandre dear. Things will be winding down for the next couple hours - even if Yuuka hadn't caused a scene, most of the important people would have been gone in an hour or so, leaving people who are trying to feel important, people who just want to have some good food, and people who are taking advantage of the mansion's neutrality to discuss business or important affairs." She frowns, and you slump; that neutrality is going to come under suspicion, now that Remilia is making moves and you're getting into fights with Yuuka … especially with her parting accusations. Before your mood can spiral any further, however, Remilia places her index fingers against your cheeks and pulls your head up, then leans forward to kiss you quickly on the nose. And she doesn't let go, holding your head still with a mischievous smile on her face - at least until you finally stick your tongue out and smile back. "There, that's my wonderful sister. Mm … just a quick warning - if you want to take your friends to the kitchen to relax, Mami Tomoe and Kyouko Sakura are working in there." You nod. And the library isn't off-limits, but Patchouli's guests are there and probably irritated … Ilya might appreciate the new statue, though.

@Entropy Judge, is Yukari mad at Yuuka because what she tries to pull off or because a plan of her had been foiled? Or any plans that she has that including Flan to rein in Remelia are now in shambles because Flan had proven most things they know about her is wrong?

And what are the pieces of knowledge about Flan that most of Gensokyo are questioning currently are seeing that happen so far at the party? And what will the general opinion of her after the party?

And what is the opinion of the Mid-Chidans about everything that had happened so far including the party?

Yukari was probably furious mostly because Yuuka is making a scene at a party where other things have already gone down (Flan showing that she's not immediately going to respond with violence when dealing with Hidetsugu, the whole negotiations thing). By now, she's probably worried more than anything else, what with Remilia's double sending her to Shiki and what she has to say about Yuuka.

Currently, most of Gensokyo is utterly unaware of anything that's happened at the party; it'll take a few days before rumors and gossip have spread. Most of that is going to focus on her hanging out with humans and standing up to an oni mage. General opinion of Flan ... depends on who you're asking. The tengu, being a society of information-gatherers - and particularly with access to Aya, one of the few youkai who actually knows anything about Flan - are going to get the clearest picture of what she's like. Other opinions will range from 'no change' to 'WTF?', along with a healthy amount of people just thinking she's trying to emulate Remilia by befriending powerful humans.

Mid-Childans currently have no unified opinions, apart from Remilia somehow having precisely the best peace offering toward Vita that could exist. They are leaning toward 'Remilia is acting in good faith, and youkai in general aren't wholly incomprehensible', though.

Flandremilia
[X] See if you can stay with Remilia for a little bit.
- [X] Just be with her.

"… Remilia?" She turns from looking at something to your left and smiles gently. "Can … can we just be together for a bit? The two of us?" Her eyes widen in surprise, but then she smiles - relieved, happy, joyful - and leans forward, hugging you tightly.

"Of course, Flandre! Of course, whenever we can." She straightens a little bit - still leaning forward, but at an angle that a human would be able to replicate without falling over. "Is there something you wanted to talk about …?" You shake your head as she trails off.

"Just … I just want to be with you for a while." Remilia nods.

"Your friends -"

"They'll understand." You cut her off quickly, just wanting to go with her, and she looks at you, surprised, then laughs quietly and smiles.

"They will, of course. Let's find someplace we can be alone for a while, hm?" You nod and Remilia pulls you close, turning so you're side by side, and starts walking obliquely toward the mansion. You almost hear something - something that, if you had heard it, would have sounded much like Vita squawking angrily - but it's something easily ignored, and when you cling to your sister's arm, she leans into you, giving you closeness and comfort as her wing folds around you. She guides you to a bench under a window and you sit down, leaning against each other, her wings tucked under your chins like a blanket. You sit there, leaning together, and close your eyes, and worry and tension ooze out of you. Not all of it - too much has happened, and there's too much uncertainty still ahead - but more than enough to make it as though the recent troubles simply hadn't happened. You close your eyes and burrow even more tightly into your sister. She's doing something, of course; that's her way, to always do something for you … and you can't really help her in return. Before your doubts and self-recriminations can fully manifest, she squeezes you tightly and shakes her head.

"… I'm sorry," you whisper, and as you push away the bad feelings, Remilia strokes your hair.

"You don't need to be," comes the response, and you curl up, pressing against your sister's strength. For a long moment, nothing changes; then you collapse against her, relaxing, and a steady trickle of tears comes from your eyes. Here and now, you're safe, protected from the stress of the world - the only thing that can harm you is your own self. You cling to your sister, almost desperately, and your wings snake across your body to twine around her waist. And through it all, she murmurs soothingly and strokes your hair.

You lose track of time, uncertain of whether you even retained consciousness. What brings you into full wakefulness is your sister's whispered, irritated voice. "What is it, Pache?" You blink, focusing on her left arm, and she sighs unhappily. "Alright. … Flandre?" You hesitate momentarily, not wanting to give up your sister to the interfering and thieving magician.

"… Yes?" You aren't sure you keep the worry out of your voice, but Remilia doesn't react untowardly.

"Some of my guests are leaving, so I have to go see them off. Will you be alright, or do you want to stay like this for a little longer?" You almost ask her to stay, to ignore her guests so you can keep feeling like this - but that would be wrong. You feel a lot better, as if all the bad emotions from the last week simply didn't happen. You squeeze Remilia tightly, shake your head, and release her.

"I'm fine. Thank you." She smiles warmly and kisses your forehead.

"Of course, Flandre." She hesitates, as if not wanting to leave as well - but she has to. You sit up, wings slithering back from around your sister.

"Oh, um, Tohsaka might be staying a bit longer. She wanted to talk to Marisa about something, and it might take a while." She nods.

"Of course. She is your guest, so whatever hospitality we can grant her, we shall." She still doesn't stand to leave, however, and her expression flickers to one of discomfort. "… There is … something I want to talk to you about. Later, later. It is not … no, it is important, but … it can - it should - wait until things are more settled. After your friends have returned to Mid-Childa?" She must have sensed your growing unease - half the guests must have sensed it! - because she shakes her head and throws her arms around you. "No, no! It's not bad, nothing wrong or harmful. It's just …." She trails off, for once unable to explain herself - but you lean into her and squeeze her back, nodding.

"Of course, Remilia," you say, and when you lean back you grin at the shy smile on your sister's face; such an unfamiliar expression, but one that fits her so well. She takes a breath and nods.

"Then I suppose I must be off for now." Her wings finally disentangle themselves, leaving you vulnerable to the outside world once more, but now you're refreshed, restored … and a little bit sleepy. You stand up with your sister, and after one more hug, she turns and walks away, heading down to the basement to see off her guests. You take a calming breath, then look through your clones' eyes to see if there's anything interesting going on. Akyuu and Alice are still up on the balcony, but you can't find Aya anywhere. Ilya and Illyasviel are with Lulu and the Mid-Childans, talking about something. Satsuki is with Sakuya in the ballroom. Nothing seems to need your attention.

Party XXVI

--[X] How they found the party and their thoughts on the guests.

You take another breath, stifling a yawn, and turn toward your friends and the Mid-Childans. Whatever Remilia wants to talk with you about … she said it's important, but it's also something that can wait for a week. Is it something to do with you? Or Gensokyo? Perhaps she's solved Ilya's lifespan issue … although if that were the case, she probably wouldn't tell you about it until she was ready to tell you more about it. You tap your lips, thinking, then shake your head and dismiss your wonderings as you reach speaking distance of the Mid-Childans. You bow politely in response to Nanoha's wave, then have to hold yourself up as Lulu runs over to nearly tackle you. You smile and pat her head as you disentangle yourself, noting that Ilya has a look that seems to combine smugness and envy. Hmm …. "Hello, everyone. I hope your night has been more pleasant than unpleasant." Casually, your arms snake around Ilya and you swing her side to side as you hug her like an oversized stuffed bear. Fate smiles, and Nanoha and Megane both cover their mouths to keep from laughing, Lulu definitely looks envious, and when you stop swinging her you look down at a red-faced, completely embarrassed Ilya. Vita scowls - she still hasn't transformed back to her dress, which is quite rude … but not something you really feel like complaining about. Before she says anything, though, your attention is diverted by an embarrassed squeak: Leysritt is imitating you, holding Sella and swinging her gently, and Ilya laughs at her servants as you set her on her feet.

"Yes, the people here have been quite polite," Megane says. You smile and bow your head … but has she spoken with many people? You recall her spending much of her time in the gardens, or otherwise with Zest, and not mingling …. "Are there always so many people at these parties?" You look around, considering your answer, then shrug.

"About this many. Usually there aren't as many high-class youkai, I think, but Remilia did have her meeting."

"Do these things always end with some weirdo threatening people?" Fate and Nanoha both frown at Vita, but she ignores them to scowl at you - and for the first time, you notice that she isn't holding her tribble. Hopefully she didn't lose it. You shake your head.

"No. Yuuka was entirely out of line, and I'm not sure why she decided to do that. Even if she's right about youkai needing to attack people, her manner and method were completely wrong." Vita looks almost puzzles by your refutation of Yuuka's actions, but you're almost as confused by Nanoha's concerned expression. You cock your head to the side, about to ask her about it, but she smiles and shakes her head. "- Yuuka aside, was there anything you thought could be improved? Humans are always in the minority in parties like these, and people are quite different from how they were when we did hold human-majority parties, so if things do work out and your people can come here to relax, it would be good to learn about things that don't work with your culture." That catches them off-guard - Vita especially looks quite surprised at your request. Zest recovers first and clears his throat.

"These parties are common?" You shrug helplessly.

"I think Remilia likes to hold them at least once a week. They aren't just parties for the sake of things, usually - as an outsider, the mansion serves as a sort of protected neutral ground for other parties to have discussions if they don't want to resolve disputes through danmaku or their own mediators." He nods, frowning slightly, and you wait for him to gather his thoughts.

"… I know there are many maids working here, yet the only one we've seen tonight was Sakuya." You cock your head to the side - it's true that you haven't seen the fairy maids much, or any fairies, really, apart from the ice fairy. Usually they're quite underfoot.

"It is a bit unusual. Apart from helping set up the stage, you're right, they have been absent. Of course, Sakuya can handle things, but … maybe with all the high-class youkai, Remilia didn't want someone to make a mistake, because normally they do help out and keep track of things." You blink, then lean sideways to look past Zest at Verossa and his friends. "Verossa, hello. I don't think I've spoken to you yet tonight. Are you enjoying yourself?" Nanoha and Fate chuckle, and Zest and Megane step out of the way so you're looking right at the inspector and his friends; as usual, the one in pink and red is hanging onto his arm, while the green-clad one is next to her, alternately looking envious and annoyed.

"Ah, yes, Flandre, I am. Since I haven't had the chance to introduce you - this is Lyre, and her sister Lethe." The cat youkai both nod politely, and you curtsy. Verossa hesitates, trying to come up with the proper phrasing for something, and the green cat - Lethe - looks around warily.

"So - you get along with the humans? Live in peace with them?" Verossa winces, and after a moment you shake your head.

"Sort of, but not really. Youkai need humans to believe in and fear them, or else they'll fade away. Living 'in peace' isn't possible. It's just that since the Spell Card system was created, humans and youkai aren't messily killing each other, because it's possible for humans to fight back effectively. If you saw the duels that were being conducted over there, those were Spell Card duels." Lethe frowns, and you shrug. "Normal youkai simply cannot exist without humans believing they exist, at least in the abstract. They don't need to be believed in specifically, but the belief that 'something' exists must be there. So youkai can't kill humans; at the same time, in order to reinforce belief in them and to instill fear in their power, youkai need to attack humans. Since the Spell Card system was adopted, wide-ranging Incidents that show off the power of youkai to a large number of people have been the norm, since it's easy enough for Reimu or Marisa to deal with them without affecting people too much." Her frown deepens, but before you can try to clarify things further she shakes her head and steps back.

"Is it possible to get recipes for the dishes that were served?" You nod at Nanoha, wondering if she really is interested or if she's just making conversation.

"Sakuya should be able to tell you what everything is and how to prepare it, or at least where to get it." You wouldn't be surprised at all to learn that some things had simply been bought and stored instead of prepared here. It actually makes a good deal more sense for some things.

"That … Aya. Why was she upset with Remilia earlier?" You sigh at Fate's question.

"You remember the other tengu who was with her? Hatate? Well, she decided to go sightseeing, or something, so Remilia turned her into a statue. She should have known better, but I guess Aya felt responsible or something." None of the Mid-Childans take that revelation particularly well, although - as you suspected - Ilya doesn't seem bothered by it. "That isn't a normal punishment for wandering where you shouldn't. Hatate seems to have consistently irritated my sister somehow, so she gets special treatment." Nanoha and Fate both seem to be unhappy regardless, although Vita just huffs and turns away - and when she dispels her Barrier Jacket, you see the tribble sitting on top of her head and can't help but giggle. Zest remains as stone-faced as ever, and Megane looks preoccupied with her thoughts. And after a sidelong glance at Lulu, you're pretty sure that she, at least, is quite tired, although if Ilya is, she isn't showing it.
