Checking the School
[X] Try sneaking into the school and looking up the student records.

She starts trying to talk, then closes her mouth. After several more false starts, her shoulders droop and she looks down. "I … I don't know, Flandre-sama," she says quietly. "I try to think of something, but … my mind goes white and my chest gets tight, and …." She trails off and hugs herself tightly. You fly over and sit next to her on the bed. She shudders when you put your hand on her shoulder.

"Would it help if I came up with some options?" She nods and you lean back. "Well, the first thing I would do is go check his home and see if he's there -" Satsuki jerks sideways in shock and falls off the bed. You start to lean forward as she bounces back to her feet.

"N-no! I - I can't do that! Th-The Tohno mansion - not even the Arimas! I couldn't bother them like that!" You blink, more than a little confused, and Satsuki looks away again. "Um, until a little while ago, Tohno-kun lived with a related family, the Arimas. It's … it was kind of a secret. Inui-kun didn't want to tell me …." She trails off and her expression grows troubled. You shrug. Oh, well.

"Okay, so no snooping around his house. Or his old home, I guess. What about your home? Could we …." You trail off as Satsuki pales and shakes her head terrifiedly. You lean down and touch the top of her head, sliding your hand down to cup her cheek. "Alright. We won't try to talk to anyone directly. But that really only leaves us one option." You sigh and sit up, then drop down to the floor. Satsuki swallows nervously and looks around.

"… One option? What's that?" You sigh again and look up at her.

"We wait until everyone's gone, then go to your school and look for any records. If we find some, great; if we don't … that still doesn't mean much. Maybe you just went to a different school, or the timelines don't match up." She cocks her head.

"… Timelines?" You wince.

"Well, you remember it was February in Fuyuki? It's early December here. And I think it's September or October in Gensokyo. If the years don't match up …." Her face pales again and her eyes widen. You float up and cup your hands firmly but gently along the sides of her face. "Satsuki, calm down. Don't panic. This is all conjecture, we don't know what we will find. If the school doesn't have anything useful, there are still other places we can check, right?" If it comes to it, you could probably get Amy or Fate to see if the Mid-Childans can check for anyone Satsuki might know with their magic or technology, but that's something you should probably save for the end, after Satsuki has gone and tried things herself. After a few moments of staring into your eyes, Satsuki nods and relaxes, then crumbles and wraps her arms around you in a painful bone-grinding hug, sobbing almost silently. You pull her back onto the bed.

"I - I'm sorry, F-F-Flandre-sama …." You hug her back and press her face against your shoulder.

"It's alright, Satsuki. You can cry. You don't have to worry about shame." She is, after all, still so very human. The youkai response would be anger, frustration, outrage - but the human response to learning that a sought-after thing might not even exist, or might no longer exist … that is often sadness and despair. Satsuki takes your advice and cries into your shoulder, muffling her keening voice with your dress and your shoulder, as you stroke her hair and murmur comfortingly. Eventually, she simply falls asleep, long before the sun rises. When she finally relaxes completely, you slip out of her clutching grip and move the blanket and pillow so she's more comfortable, then slide back into her arms and fall asleep yourself.

You step out of the train station and look around, then look back at Satsuki - Satsuki, wearing a hooded jacket and hunching her shoulders in a vain attempt to go unnoticed. Well, better that than with despair still bottling up inside her. She looks around, too, and you can tell that some things are the same, because she relaxes … and some things are different, because she tenses up.

"… I guess they finished it," she says, looking wistfully at a tall building. You give her a curious look, but she just shakes her head. "It's supposed to be a symbol of Misaki. Just a building." She swallows and starts walking; not quickly, but not slowly, either. Just walking. You walk alongside her in silence. "Um, so … how are we going to get into the school, anyway? They lock all the doors once everyone leaves." You sniff dismissively.

"Somewhere, someone will have left a door or window unlocked - and even if they haven't, it's a simple matter to get past them anyway." Satsuki gasps delightedly.

"Ah! You can pick locks, Flandre-sama?" You sigh.

"No, Satsuki. I was thinking more along the lines of breaking a lock, window, or door."

"Oh." Her voice is quiet, and you bump her gently with your head. Fortunately, the street is mostly clear around you. "I'm sorry, I just … let my imagination get away from me." You chuckle and pat her arm.

"Don't worry. Hey, tell me about some of the places we're passing!" You pull Satsuki's arm back and forth, and eventually she starts talking, telling you about the shopping centers and the arcades, and then the public buildings, and the streets, and eventually you find yourselves strolling toward a walled complex - her school. You walk up to the gate and peer inside, but it doesn't look like anyone's here. The lights are off, and the gate, quite naturally, doesn't move when you try to push it open. You shrug and grin at Satsuki. "Ready to go in?" She takes a deep breath, then nods. You take one more look around, both in the school and around the lamp-lit street, then float over the gate. Satsuki takes another breath, then jumps over it, landing easily next to you as you send your clones to search for an open door or window. Sure enough, one of the windows on the second floor isn't even closed, and you walk over there, then carry Satsuki up and into the classroom. She swallows, eyes closed, then looks around before walking quickly out of the room. Probably not her classroom, then.

"The office is on the first floor," she says, and you follow her down the hall, down the stairs, and then into an administrative office. There, however, she stops, and you slip past her. Several desks with computers sit against one wall, and narrow cabinets stand against another, but a quick check reveals that the cabinets are locked. You shrug and begin going through the desk drawers along with your clones. Satsuki gingerly pokes around as well, until one of your clones finds something interesting. "A log-in ID and password …." You glance at her and she takes a breath before turning to the computer. A few buttons turn it on, while you continue going through the other desks in case it doesn't work. But it does, and Satsuki excitedly types out the characters for Tohno Shiki in the school database … only to slump in despair as it fails to return any results.

"May I try something?" Numbly, she nods and steps away, and you quickly input her name. "Hmm … Yumizuka Satsuki, senior year, no attendance or disciplinary problems …." Satsuki gasps and stumbles into you, reading about her local incarnation - there's even a picture, and although it's not terribly good it's definitely Satsuki. Then Satsuki reaches over your shoulders to call up a classroom roster and looks through the names there.

"I … I know most of these people, but Tohno-kun still isn't here." She hugs you tightly.

"Let … let me try one more thing, okay?" You go back to the student name look-up and search for students with the first name 'Shiki'. There are several students with the name, spelled various ways, but only one Shiki is in Satsuki's grade - a boy named 'Nanaya Shiki.' Well, that's frustrating. Satsuki turns away and starts sniffling.

What do you do?

[ ] Try to get Satsuki to go with you to the Tohno Mansion.

[ ] Try to get Satsuki to go with you to her old home.

[ ] Take Satsuki back to Amy's so she can feel more secure.

[ ] Don't try to get Satsuki to do anything. Just stay with her for now.

Well, they did found Satsuki and Shiki both. Only OUR Satsuki didn't recognized the boy. It's curious that Tohno family either didn't exist or they live in another city altogether (or they go to other school, are home schooled?). The Nanaya massacre didn't occur here, obviously, so Shiki is altogether different boy here. Still, it would be interesting to spy on the human Satsuki, just to see if she is going out with someone.

[X] Take Satsuki back to Amy's so she can feel more secure.
- [X] Spy on native Satsuki, just to see with whom she is acquaintance with.
- - [X] Alone. No need to traumatize our Satsuki.

Weren't the Tohnos part of the Nanaya clan? It's highly likely that this Shiki is an alternate of Satsuki's crush, just with a different name.

The Tohnos were one of the premier demon-blooded clans, and the Nanayas were pure human anti-demon clans. The Tohnos are related to a few other families, but not the Nanayas. (That said - yes. Nanaya Shiki was adopted by Tohno Makihisa after the destruction of the Nanaya family, and after Tohno Shiki suffered from his Inversion impulse/possession by Roa, was brainwashed into thinking he was Tohno Shiki.)

What did Satsuki want to do again?
See Shiki, apparently. She's still got a bit of a fixation on him.

Thankfully, Flandre do not know better IC herself.

I suggest we don't start yet another mess in Type Moon stuff. The Grail War was enough, I think.

This is for Satsuki. Staying with her seems the obvious extension of that.

Regarding the vote to take Satsuki back to Amy's and then go spy on Alt!Satsuki ... uh, does anyone have an idea for how Flan is going to get away without making it seem obvious she's going to do something that Satsuki probably wouldn't like?

She's going out for a walk? I mean Flan does this all the time no? Just wander off after settling in her minion.

Staying with Satsuki
[X] Don't try to get Satsuki to do anything. Just stay with her for now.

You glance at your servant, then at the list of names, and shrug before slipping over to lean into Satsuki. One of your clones turns the computer off as Satsuki's sobs intensify, and you help her keep her footing when she turns to wrap her arms around you. Your other clones float next to her as well, one holding its hand on her shoulder and the other leaning gently into her back.

"F-Flandre-s-sama?" You nod.

"It's alright, Satsuki." You hold her there for a few minutes, but then her sobs diminish and she steps back. You look up at her, worried.

"T-thank you, Flandre-sama. Can … can we go somewhere?" You nod and she sniffles loudly and wipes her eyes with the sleeve of her jacket. "Thank you …." Voice quiet, she turns away and stumbles through the school - but instead of leaving the building, she simply finds the stairwell and goes up. She still sniffles, but she doesn't need help with the stairs, and eventually you come to a door. It's locked, and Satsuki stares at it for a moment before turning and reaching behind a box on the wall. She smiles sadly at you. "Isn't it sad that I know where the key is?" You cock your head, confused, and she just unlocks the door and heads out to the roof. It's not a very good roof, as far as places to be go, but Satsuki finds a nice enough place and sits on a low wall. Your clones scatter to the corners to keep watch, unnecessary as it seems. "… I used to imagine confessing to Tohno-kun up here. Oh, it was never like this," she says, waving her arm at the machinery. "It was a proper roof, with a nice fence and lots of open space, and I would find Tohno-kun up here, looking out at the city. And I would walk up to him, and … and …." She trails off and turns away, tears forming in her eyes. After a few minutes of quiet sobbing she slumps to her knees and leans against the wall. "I'm sorry, Flandre-sama." You frown at her listless, emotionless voice.

"Why?" It takes her a moment to look at you, confused, and you shrug. "What are you sorry for?" She hunches her shoulders at your curious response and looks away, and after a moment you hop down next to her.

"… For breaking down like that. For being weak." You barely keep from snorting disdainfully.

"Satsuki, I'm not going to get upset at you for crying. You have a good reason to cry, so there's no problem. Emotions … mmm." You think to yourself for a moment, then shrug. "I don't have problems with people expressing emotions - if you're angry, show me; if you're happy, show me. If I ask if you're okay, and you say yes when you're really not - that's lying, right? Emotions are similar. If you really want to cry, or laugh, but you don't just because you're afraid of upsetting me - well, then you're lying, to me and to yourself. If there's a good reason to not cry, or to keep your emotions contained, then, yes, don't do anything. Like me! If I'm sad or upset, I don't have any problems being grumpy or crying, or whatever I feel like, because that doesn't really affect anything. When I get angry, I have to keep my emotions in check, though, because when I get angry, if I let my emotions out I tend to overreact and destroy things. Patchouli expresses most of her emotions in her word choices and how she says things, but her face also shows what she's feeling a lot of the time. She doesn't usually laugh or cry, but that's not because she has any reason not to - she just doesn't. Remilia doesn't hold onto emotions very long, most of the time, but she definitely expresses herself when she does." You float up and wrap your arms around Satsuki's shoulders in a loose hug. "You feel like you've lost something, right? It's fine to show that - grief, sadness, however you want to. Don't apologize for who you are, Satsuki." Her head slowly bobs up and down.

"Yes, Flandre-sama." You nod once, firmly.

"Good. And you're not weak. You're a strong person - if you need proof, ask Carim and Verossa." A tiny, muffled chuckle escapes her throat.

"… I guess … I guess I'm still getting used to this," she says. Her voice is still wobbly, but there's a bit more strength in it now. You squeeze her gently.

"Well, you haven't had much time to learn, and you have all your old expectations normalized. It would probably be easier if we had my sister with us, or even Patchouli - they're better at thinking things through and planning things out than I am, so they probably would have seen things like this coming and would be able to help you better than I can." She shifts around and turns to face you, face stern.

"That's not true! You're helping me a lot!" Her expression shifts to one of confusion at your gentle smile, and you lean forward to hug her again.

"Thank you, Satsuki - but that's another reason to express yourself however you feel is appropriate when you have the opportunity. Emotions are mercurial, and even the most intense, strongly-held emotions can change sometimes very quickly. You don't want to miss the chance to express yourself if you can help it. And … the force of the emotion, too. That may subside, may change direction and expression, but it doesn't go away unless you let it out. So act how you think is right. And if someone tries to tell you how to act," you release her and look her in the eyes, "you punch that person as hard as you can, right in the face. If they survive, they can explain why they think they're right, and if they don't, you don't have to listen to them anymore!" She laughs quietly at your triumphant grin, but her expression fades back to unhappiness. You hug her again. "So take your time, Satsuki. This is your time, after all. I'll be here by your side, unless you want me somewhere else." She hugs you back.

"Thank you, Flandre-sama. Can … can we just sit here for a while?" You nod.

Sometimes Satsuki gets up and walks around, and sometimes she cries intensely for a few minutes. She seems to be working through her emotions, and after a couple hours she sits by your side and closes her eyes - not really asleep, but resting deeply. You brush her hair gently, but barely ten minutes later one of your clones notifies you of an intruder - a young man with black hair, wearing a dark blue jacket and pants, who simply takes a running leap and hauls himself over the gate. He seems to be heading toward the athletic field, not the main school building … but maybe you should move Satsuki, just to be sure.

What do you do?

[ ] Just sit and wait. Send a clone to keep an eye on the stranger.

[ ] Wake up Satsuki and ask what she wants to do.

[ ] Take Satsuki somewhere more secluded.

For the love of all that is holy, let's not kill/fight the Not!Shiki Tohno with Satsuki so close. That's going to break her heart more. In fact, let's dodge that mess.

[X] Take Satsuki somewhere more secluded.
