"… Is there a piano here?" Ginga blinks and cocks her head confusedly. Not a good sign.

"A piano?" You nod.

"Yes. Typically made of wood, fairly big, black and white keys -" She waves her hand to cut you off.

"No, I know what a piano is. But why do you want to know if one is here?" You turn to face her and put on a condescending expression.

"So I can play it, of course. I mean, I'd be happy with a violin, too, but I'd really prefer a piano. Full-size, of course - I understand there are smaller ones, and I can work with them, but full-size is best. And I'd really prefer to not have to make do with a keyboard." Lyrica may be fine with little things like that, but not you. It's really hard to get them sounding just right. Ginga frowns and slowly shakes her head.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think there's a piano on the premises." Your mouth twists into something not quite a snarl, but definitely unhappy.

"Then if you could arrange to find where one can be bought in the city so I can acquire one, I would be most grateful. If nothing can be found here on Mid-Childa, I am perfectly willing to go to Earth to get one, so don't worry if it's too difficult to track one down." Her expression blanks and she holds herself very still. You watch her closely, but after a few moments she nods.

"I'll see what I can do," she finally says, and you nod perfunctorily before turning away and heading back to the main building.

"Thank you. I'll go and find something to keep myself occupied, then. I'll see you later." She mumbles something half-heartedly as you fly slowly back to Long Arch. Now the inability to use the simulator is even more frustrating, because right now you really do want to blow off some steam. Not having a piano when you were here before wasn't so much of a problem, but now that you have Remilia's composition to practice, not having one when you want it is really irritating. Nothing to do about it but wait until someone lets you know where to find one … and they'd better not just get one and deliver it to you. Aesthetics and how in-tune it is aside, you haven't heard any Mid-Childan music before, and while you could get by with a harpsichord or even a fortepiano, they just don't have the same range and sound quality as a big, beautiful, full-sized piano.

Your mood darkens as you and your clones scour the building for something to read, and you really begin to regret leaving the mythology books behind. Did you ever get them to Patchouli? You dismiss the thought as you settle down in a small break room that doesn't get sunlight this time of day. The one interesting book you managed to find is on the founding and history of the 'Saint Church' … and you also found a couple more technical books on regulations. Maybe you shouldn't have asked Lutecia to help you polish up your Mid-Childan - if you hadn't, then you'd be able to work on it now. Sighing, you open the religious book and begin reading.

To be fair to it, it's not entirely uninteresting or unhelpful. It goes into some detail on the last 'Sankt Kaiser' and her desire to end the wars ravaging the worlds, although given that it was only a century ago you're rather surprised at the amount of myth and legend surrounding her end - they weren't sure if the Cradle had been destroyed, lost, deliberately sealed somewhere, or something else, for example. On the one hand, they are human … but you're still talking about a major event within a very recent timeframe, and considering the state of Mid-Childan technology you have a hard time believing that the information was lost. Of course, it could have been deliberately misplaced, or rumors put in place on purpose specifically to distort the truth - and if that Olivie person was a reasonably competent politician, it may even have been her decision to do that in order to prevent her end being used as a rallying point to start another war. Particularly since the Cradle was, in fact, lost or hidden instead of being destroyed ….

All in all, they remind you most of the Hospitallers of Saint John - primarily interested in aid and charity work, but with a moderate fighting arm in case someone tries to stir up trouble. Much more of a bureaucratic and self-sufficient organization than the Teutonic Knights were, at any rate … at least, in your opinion. Neither group had that much of a presence in Hesse, but only the Teutonic Knights ever actually tried to start anything. The Hospitallers were a lot more interested in helping people, and if they disapproved of your sister's control over the region, they were pretty quiet about it. The Saint Church must have managed to maintain a lot of technology, though, which is how they were able to spread so well and so quickly - after the end of the war, they were one of the largest and most organized groups to work to help people on more ravaged worlds. You have to wonder if they managed to keep more than that ….

You sit for a few minutes, consolidating the information and its implications, then turn grudgingly to the next book in line. It's a computer manual, which … well, it might be useful. How much trouble can you get into, anyway?

"Flandre?" You look up from your chair at Ginga's voice. "It's almost time for dinner, if you want to join us. Nothing too amazing, but plenty of it." She looks apologetic, and you glance out the window at the darkening sky. Satsuki'll be up soon.

"Have you had a chance to look for a piano yet?" She winces.

"I did try to find something, but I'm not sure if the instruments I found are … quite what you're looking for. There are a couple places that might have something you'd like - they're second-hand stores that have fluctuating item stocks, so it's hard to check their inventories without going there, but they do have musical instruments, so I might be able to take you in a day or two." You nod; her wince must be because she's worried you'll insist on going to Earth instead of trying to get something here. Although … maybe you could have one made? Surely someone would have the skills and equipment to do it …. You smile and bow your head.

"Thank you for checking, Ginga." She looks a little relieved. As for dinner ….

What do you do?

[ ] Accept her invitation.
- [ ] After Satsuki wakes up.
- Any particular subjects to talk about or avoid?

[ ] Decline her invitation.

[ ] Other?

DM Note: Default action following declining the invitation is to show Satsuki around and explain the situation to her.

Flandre, I think she's more worried you'll throw a tantrum than that you'll insist on going to Earth for a Piano. Though she might be worried about both.

Given my post above seems to not have been clear enough, I'll make it clearer now.

Can I assume that these are talking/asking about events on Mid-Childa and not Flan recounting her adventures? Because Flan absolutely would mention that she killed, like, four or five dragons in one world, and later fought something that is basically the local Incarnation of Evil, at lease partially to drive home the point that, for example, Nove's dislike for her is really nowhere near enough of an issue to merit even her divided attention (which isn't to say that she wouldn't beat Nove to a bloody pulp if she keeps it up).

Alright, so I have ... one vote that I'm not entirely sure of, one vote that I'm pretty sure I know, and one vote that is specific enough that I don't need to guess. So, votes are not locked. And it'll be sometime tomorrow before I can sit down to work on this.

"As for dinner, I gladly accept your invitation - although I'd like to bring Satsuki as well. She should be waking up soon, so is it alright if I don't come down for a few minutes?" Ginga nods.

"That's fine. Um … you're both vampires, correct? Can you eat normal food, or …?" You smile at her and nod.

"We both can, yes; I don't really get much out of it, and I'm not sure Satsuki gets anything at all in terms of what her body needs to keep existing, but we can both eat normal food." You frown as a thought strikes you. "I'll need to check with Satsuki about any particular allergies she might have, but I am slightly allergic to garlic."

"Allergic?" You nod again as Ginga cocks her head to the side.

"It won't really be an issue unless you start adding whole cloves or the equivalent, but it makes me uncomfortable and in larger doses can make me sick. I'm strong enough that anything a human can eat comfortably shouldn't bother me, but it is something you should know." She nods again, smiling lightly.

"Thank you. Then I'll go down and let everyone know you'll be coming, and you'll meet us in the cafeteria with Satsuki after she wakes up." You nod, then snap your fingers.

"Oh, right - it's alright that I tell her about your natures? That you're - combat cyborgs, was it?" She hesitates for a moment before nodding.

"If you think it'll make her more comfortable, it's fine." She grins and shakes her head. "I'm sure she'll figure something's up if you don't, anyway." You cock your head to the side, but she doesn't explain further. "Well, we'll see you in a little bit, then." You watch her as she leaves the room, then stretch and float through the halls back to your room. You knock on Satsuki's door, but when she doesn't respond you open it and drift in. Your servant looks … relaxed. You give her a few more minutes before shaking her shoulder firmly.

"Satsuki." It might not work - but after you shake her a second time her eyes blearily open and she yawns. Another few seconds pass before she fully wakes up, and then she bolts into a sitting position.

"F-Flandre-sama!" She looks around, taking in her new room before focusing on you again. You nod, smiling, and beckon for her to get up.

"Good evening, Satsuki. Did you sleep well?" She frowns, unsure how to respond, and you giggle. "Well, it doesn't matter. Would you like to get changed? Wash your face? We'll be joining some others for dinner - normal food, I believe, not blood, so if you need a quick drink …." You trail off meaningfully as Satsuki considers her options - and then, after looking down at her maid uniform, nods and hops off the bed to go to her trunk.

"U-um, is it okay if I wear … normal clothes, instead of my uniform?" She stiffens, waiting for your answer, and after a moment you shrug.

"If it'll make you more comfortable, I don't particularly mind."

"Thank you!" You giggle as she digs into the trunk, finally coming out with a black skirt with a dark red long-sleeved shirt. You quirk an eyebrow, but if she has it, then your sister must have approved of it. She stands up, clothes held close to her chest, and looks around. You nod before she can say anything.

"Bathroom is this way." You lead her out of her room and down the hall a bit. As she washes up and gets dressed, you explain a bit about the building. "The others that we'll be eating with are combat cyborgs - some kind of cross between human and …." You trail off as she turns to stare at you excitedly.

"Cyborgs? Do they have drills?" Your mouth hangs open for a moment as you wonder just what has her so excited … and why she's interested in drills. Then you shake your head.

"As far as I know, they don't use drills. One uses knives and explosives, and the other two are more unarmed fighters if I remember them rightly. Oh, and the three that are wearing white are prisoners here." That shocks the excited expression off her face.

"Prisoners? What did they do?" You shrug.

"They're part of a group that … I guess was trying to destroy the Bureau, I think. Anyway, they can't leave this place without express permission. The other girl seems to be their supervisor. Come, let's join dinner and get you introduced to them." She nods quickly and collects her things, putting them back in her room before following you down to the cafeteria. You slow down when you enter the dining room, more than a little shocked at the sheer amount of food they have … and Satsuki stumbles, staring helplessly at the same sight. Ginga laughs and Cinque and Wendi chuckle, but Nove just glares at you and hoards food jealously. You cough and tap Satsuki's arm to get her attention and she blushes as she follows you to the heavily-laden table. Ginga seems to be eating the most, followed by Nove and then Wendi, and Cinque has an amount that might even be normal, if a bit on the larger side of portioning. You stop and gesture at them. "Satsuki, this is Sergeant Ginga Nakajima. And these are Cinque, Nove, and Wendi. Everyone, this is my servant, Satsuki Yumizuka." Again, only Nove doesn't even try for a pretence of well-greeting, instead simply shifting her glare to Satsuki and back to you.

"Servant, huh? What, are you some kind of rich noble, too?" You nod.

"Yes." She blinks, stunned, and Cinque winces. "Well, I suppose technically not a noble anymore, since we relinquished our title, but after three and a half centuries, titles matter a bit less than fact." You sit down and glance over the food. Lots of … heavy food. What looks like spaghetti and a few other pasta dishes, all with a variety of sauces. You look up at Ginga and she shrugs.

"We burn a lot of calories, both because of our bodies and because of our magic style, so we have to eat a lot. But please, help yourselves." You nod and, after a bit of further study, gather some of the noodles that seem to be sitting in oil with herbs sprinkled over them. Satsuki is a bit more hesitant, but finally takes some noodles with a red sauce and several meats and vegetables. "… So, is there anything either of you wanted to know about?"

"Do you guys use drills?" You half-turn to look at Satsuki, and she looks terribly embarrassed, but it's good that she's at least taking the initiative. Your hosts, however, look perplexed.

"Drills …? I don't think so. Cinque?" But the white-haired girl simply shakes her head. "Sorry, Satsuki." Satsuki sighs and looks down at her food. You shrug at Ginga and she smiles.

"Did anything interesting happen while I was gone?" Ginga and Wendi freeze, Cinque frowns, and Nove … looks about ready to leap over the table at you.

"By interesting, you mean …?" You shrug at Cinque.

"Interesting to me. So … fights, I guess? Any particularly good battles or wars that broke out? Monsters go on a rampage? I mean, I guess there's other stuff that I could be interested in - oh, Ginga! What happened to Major Marino's unit?" She looks uncomfortable for a moment before shrugging and looking away.

"It was … disbanded, after the Major's death. The unit is still around, but no one you'd know is in it, now." Her mouth works before she continues. "… Several members have gone to treatment centers, complaining of nightmares, and some have had odd nervous breakdowns or jittery nerves. Many who have gone into combat situations have had … unreasonably heightened aggressive responses. The only real connecting thread is that the lower the individual's magical power, the worse the … side-effects." You stare at her for a moment, putting the pieces together. The only connecting thread - apart from proximity to you, of course. And you were put here … to keep you away from large groups of people, at least in part. Would they let you teach, then, if they're concerned about how you'll affect people you spend significant amounts of time with?

"… And they stuck you in here with us. Great."

"Nove." The red-head just sighs and looks down at her superior's voice, and Cinque tries giving you an apologetic look. "Don't worry about us - we may not be as strong as Miss Lutecia, but we won't be as close to you as she was." Your eyes brighten.

"Did she tell you about what we did?" Cinque nods.

"A bit. I'm sure she left some things out, and we weren't together for very long before they put her in restricted service."

"What about you? Did you have any - interesting fights, I guess?" You cock your head at Wendi, and her expression seems a bit forced, so maybe she's just trying to keep the conversation away from things her sisters might not like.

"Hmm … well, there were the … five dragons I fought, I think. At different times, of course. Vita can probably give a better description of their abilities, because I wasn't very impressed by them - except the last one, the big black one. Oh, and there was the time I killed maybe a few hundred vampire hunters, and then I butchered most of a several-thousand strong army." You grin as you remember slaughtering the Stormcloaks in the night … a grin that fades as you recall their ridiculous attempts to stand against you. Wendi's expression locks up, and Cinque frowns. "Oh, and I fought Berserker! I killed him … I think three times before finally managed to break through and kill Caster. That was fun." You smile happily.

"… You're a monster, you know that?" You glance at Nove and your smile fades.

"Yes, I do. I'm not human, and expecting me to act and react like one is probably a bad idea." Her expression flares angrily, but she manages to look down and hold herself still before she says or does anything foolish.

4HGW - Tokiomi's Side
Tokiomi frowned at the continued ringing of the telephone. An unpleasant thing, a reminder of the world away from the magecraft to which he devoted himself. And, for several minutes now, it had not stopped ringing. He carefully suppressed a sigh - elegance in all things - and walked out of his study, down the stairs, and stood at the table that held the one telephone in the entire house. As he glowered at it, however, it ceased ringing. His frown deepened and he turned away - only for the ringing to begin anew. He picked up the receiver and brought it to his ear, his mind formed the words he was going to say -

"Papa!" His calm demeanor cracked at the sound of his daughter's cheerful voice.

"Rin!" Before he could scold his daughter, however, a different voice giggled - still childish, but not his daughter's voice at all.

"Oh, don't worry, Tokiomi. I haven't touched her, and she's not here. I considered it, of course, but … not this time. Maybe another." His eyes narrowed at the calmly-delivered threat, and he felt his Servant appear down the hall, watching him.

"What do you want?" Another laugh, this time a dark chuckle, dripping with menace.

"He is there, right? Down the hall, perhaps, or behind you, watching and waiting, arrogant red eyes narrowed in hostility. You give him a message, Tokiomi. If he is fortunate, this time there will be two corpses. You tell him that." The other line disconnected and, frowning, Tokiomi replaced the telephone on its cradle. His eyes crept to the Servant in the hall, the sunlight reflecting off his polished gold armor.

"Well, Tokiomi?" What did his Servant know? What did he suspect? Tokiomi bowed slightly - the proper display of reverence for his Servant.

"I was told of a message for you - that if you are fortunate, this time there will be two corpses." He opened his eyes and stood straight, looking for any effect the words had on his Servant. But Archer - Gilgamesh, the oldest Hero and the strongest Servant - simply stood there, expressionless, eyes distant. Tokiomi's own eyes widened in surprise - that Archer was expressionless …! Then the Servant sighed quietly and turned around and began walking through the house. Tokiomi followed him, curious and unnerved - and he grew worried when a certain "key" appeared in Archer's hand. "Archer!" The intransigent Servant ignored his call and stepped outside the house, ignoring the rules of the Holy Grail War, and Tokiomi fought down his anger. He could use the first of his Command Spells, of course, but so soon, and for what could possibly be nothing. Might be nothing ….

He followed his Servant outside, watched as Gilgamesh drew forth the "sword," the unstoppable Noble Phantasm. "Enuma Elish." The words were spoken calmly, the "sword" thrust forward without violence, but even so Tokiomi flinched and covered his eyes at the pouring light and the tearing sound. And when they faded he stared aghast at the path of destruction, the line of annihilation that led from his home through the city of Fuyuki … straight to the church. Stunned, beyond words, he slowly turned his head to the golden Servant, desiring an explanation - but Gilgamesh was already walking forward, his "sword" put away and the telltale ripples of the Gate of Babylon forming around him. He advanced into the destroyed area - and there he stood waiting.

How long had they stood there? An interminable amount of time, it seemed. And then he saw the figure that Archer stood waiting for. He frowned, trying to make it out, but it seemed … false, somehow. Human, but not. Beautiful and bestial. Perfectly precise and perfectly wild. And … a Servant. A Servant covered in hair one moment, dripping wet mud the next, and at the same time, impossibly, inhumanly beautiful. But not a Servant he could identify, one that refused to abide by the rules of the Grail War …. And then the Gate of Babylon opened.

A torrent of weapons burst out, hurtling toward that solitary, distant figure. The Servant seemed to hesitate - then flung itself toward Archer. The multitude of weapons did not bother it - Tokiomi's eyes widened as he sought to discover how it was protecting itself from the infinite flood of Noble Phantasms, but it seemed as if it was simply shoving them aside! Was there a chain floating about the Servant, or was that just his imagination? Was this strange Servant really so powerful as to simply ignore the threat posed by the Gate of Babylon? He started to raise his staff, perhaps to lend some feeble aid to his own Servant - as if he could do anything to add to that - but his arm began shaking before he could even come close to claiming he was ready. What was going on?

And then the strange Servant broke through the wall of weapons, hurtled toward Gilgamesh, an expression of - Joy? Sorrow? Fear? Pain? And Archer did not flee, but raised his arms - and when the strange Servant slammed into him, Gilgamesh threw his arms about it, and the two wrestled. If it was bothered by the armor, by Gilgamesh's seemingly unfair advantage, the strange Servant did not show it. And as the two Servants silently grappled and slammed each other into the ruined ground, Tokiomi's eyes widened and his face paled. There was only one being that could do such a thing -!

"Yes." The childish voice behind him somehow did not surprise him. "My Berserker. With such a perfect catalyst, who else should I have chosen? Of course, this one hasn't been broken by a whore. No, this is the true form, wild and untouched, of the world and of the gods." He turned slowly, not curious, but still wondering why - "Because Berserker might still lose. And as a Master, I have the duty to prevent that, if I can." The pale, silver-haired, leather-winged child held up her left arm - what would have been her left arm. Instead of flesh and bone, there was simply a forearm-shaped swirling mass of blood and power, and inscribed upon that swirling mass were three Command Spells. The creature grinned and sighed before turning to look at the dueling Servants. Her voice turned from serious to whimsical. "Really, though, it's kind of a shame the internet is so undeveloped at this point in time. Can you imagine what it would be like if people livestreamed this on YouTube? Haha! Oh, that would be great. Ah, don't worry, though. Look up there." Blankly, Tokiomi looked up into the sky. A … balloon? An airship? "A zeppelin, of course! With cameras. Oh, don't worry, they'll get the word out before the Church or the Association can do anything." Tokiomi's mind froze.

"What? You …." He turned, tried to continue his line of thought - but a tearing sound interrupted him, and then the creature's wing fell off. She stomped the ground.

"Gah! Stupid bitch-goddess. Yes, yes, fuck you very much, too. I'll be done in a few minutes, then I'm tossing my Grail into the sun, so you can stop trying to kill me." She glared down at her feet, then smiled up at Tokiomi as he tried to understand everything that was going on. It was … impossible. "Don't you worry, Tokiomi. If anything tries to kill me, rest assured you'll die before I do." A final thudding slam from the dueling Servants drew their attention. The strange Servant had bested Archer, held him down - but Tokiomi could see … tears. "Well, Berserker? Kill him. By my Command: Berserker, kill Archer!" The strange Servant shook and shuddered, but somehow refused the order, and Gilgamesh slowly raised one hand to gently brush away the tears that streamed down its face. "… By my Command: die, Enkidu. By my Command: die, Enkidu." The strange Servant shuddered, then relaxed, released from its burden of servitude - and as it faded away, a black spear whistled down through the space it had occupied and split the skull of Gilgamesh. Tokiomi looked at his hand, saw the Command Spells fade. He looked around at the devastation of his city, at the ruination of his yard, at the destruction of the spells that had warded his home ….

"What now?" The sound of the creature vomiting drew his attention - a black mud that burned away the earth beneath her feet. But she stood up, threw away the parasol, and her wing and arm grew out from her body, seemingly formed from that same strange mud until they assumed the same appearance of the rest of her body. She laughed malevolently.

"Okay, so I lied. Hmm … Illyasviel!" Space tore open at her side, and an Einzbern homunculus - a child - stumbled through, eyes wide at the ruin around her. The creature grabbed her shoulder and hauled her to her feet. "There. Assistance granted. Now - we go home!" And space tore around them again, bearing them away to some unknown destination. Tokiomi swayed, then collapsed, his staff forgotten as it slipped from his hand. For some reason, he felt like laughing.

There. Now we have Fate Apocrypha.

Scry and die wizards truly are the worst enemies.

At least I'm assuming that's why Remilia knows so much about her foes.
