[X] Do nothing and just wait for Ilya to finish.

You watch the image as Miyu tries to fire bracketing shots at the retreating Illya, but her target easily avoids the attacks and starts pulling away. A long black car screeches to a near-halt in front of Luvia, nearly hitting Tohsaka in the process, and the blonde throws her partner in before hopping in herself, and the car takes off after Miyu and Illya. Patchouli takes a deep breath and shakes her head, looking calm again. She closes the book and focuses on the image, though, so maybe she's planning on intervening? "Do you know what's going on?" She glances at you for a moment.

"Well enough. It doesn't really matter, though." You frown as she watches the chase for a few more seconds before leaning back in her chair. "I suppose I should do something about it, though." You nod and keep watching; Illya and her problem isn't any of your business - that ends with Ilya and Illya's parents in the other room - and while Patchouli's offer is tempting, it's hard to imagine something that would be both interesting and fun from this world. Unless whatever she's planning isn't from around here … but that's pretty unlikely.

"… Do you want to go?" You frown for a moment before you realize that she's addressing Koakuma, not you. The familiar looks at the image for a moment before shaking her head.

"No, no, go and have your fun. One of us might as well enjoy herself." You raise your eyebrows at the pouting devil as she sulkily responds. That's not normal behavior for her … at least, not when people are around. Is she that upset about not being able to greet Kiritsugu and Irisviel? You look back at Patchouli and your attention is drawn to the chase. Illya leaps into the air, twisting as a bow appears in her hand - Archer's bow. Well, Patchouli mentioned Lancer, you saw Saber, and now Archer definitely seems to be involved somehow. Is this some weird Grail War? Arrows flash out from Illya, aimed around but not at Miyu and the car. Before she lands, however, something slams her straight into the ground - Patchouli making her move, probably. Another invisible blast slams Miyu back, tearing a gouge along a building, and a third blast crushes the front of the black car and sends it flipping forward to land, skidding, on its roof. Patchouli takes out a thick crystal of some kind and flips it through the air - it appears in front of Illya as the girl pushes herself to one knee, and when it lands on the street it seems to build up a copy of Patchouli from the ground itself. Illya starts to say something, but Patchouli's golem-clone lashes out, physically slapping the girl.

"I believe I told you not to do anything rash. So what is this about?" As the image closes in on the two, you can see that Illya's eyes are filmed over - that thing that Patchouli wanted to see when you first met Illya, then. You glance at the magician; she's concentrating on the image, but the clone spoke without her having to say anything, and her eyes slide over to you for a moment before turning back to the image. She isn't completely focused on it, then … well, it has been a while since she couldn't keep a simulacrum going without complete concentration.

"I … I want - take me with you! Please …." Illya, or whatever's controlling her body, practically sobs at Patchouli's golem and tries to wrap her arms around the golem's legs, only to be held back by Patchouli's magic. The golem reaches forward and cups the girl's cheek in one hand.

"You're afraid? I suppose … yes, I suppose the situation is different enough that it makes sense for you to fear. This isn't then, after all. You do not need to worry or fear. We will talk - later - and nothing those two can do will matter. Do you understand? Better than you did before?" Illya nods stiffly, fear still suffusing her face, and Patchouli's golem lets her stand on her own. "Then let Illyasviel go. Rest, and wait. I won't be long." Illya nods again and shudders, then sways and falls to the ground. A card slides out of her chest as she loses consciousness and her clothes change back to normal, casual, attire. The golem leans down to pick up the card.

"Even here, even through you, there is enough of a connection that it's easier for you with this one, hm?" Patchouli shakes her head and glances at you. "The cards … effectively, what they do is turn a skilled-enough mage - or one with a Mystic Code that can compensate - into a priest. Like the shrine maidens, the cards allow the user to draw upon the power of another entity, but where the shrine maidens call upon gods, the cards are linked to particular heroes." You nod in understanding - it's a simple enough situation, after all. Maybe you could get one for Ilya …?

"Hey!" A gemstone flies toward Patchouli's golem as it holds the card in one hand, and you can see Miyu advancing cautiously as the golem's other hand waves dismissively. The blue stone glows brightly as it lands on the street, and you grin at Tohsaka's stunned expression. Ah, if only you had a camera or something …. The gemstone flies into the air and explodes harmlessly.

"You could have killed us!" Luvia either isn't bothered by Tohsaka's failed intervention or just recovers faster, and she walks past her stunned partner with her butler and Illya's Device following. "And you destroyed my property!" You snicker - as if that is going to bother Patchouli!

"I assure you, I won't sleep for a week." The golem's response turns your mirth into full-blown gales of laughter, and you hear Koakuma clapping her hands appreciatively as well. "You should return her to her home before her guardians worry too much, however. Oh, and Luvia? Do you know what an assassin is?" The funny-haired girl stiffens, and gems appear in her hands. Tohsaka and Miyu both get ready for a fight as well.

"Of course I do." The golem scoffs.

"Do you? Perhaps a remedial course would be wise." The golem turns away and places the card on Illya's chest, then melts away into the street, leaving only the crystal from which it had formed, which floats into the air before vanishing, reappearing in Patchouli's hand as the image fades. The magician leans back in her chair and slowly exhales as she examines the crystal. You watch her curiously, but she simply takes a breath before setting the crystal on the desk and opening her book back up. Distraction over, you suppose. You look up at the ceiling, still curious about what Patchouli thinks would be a challenge for you … but you really should wait. Maybe once Ilya's finished and feeling better? Would Patchouli feel insulted if you just didn't go? You curl back up, thinking, and wait for Ilya to finish talking with Kiritsugu and Irisviel.

The door opens and Sella jerks upright. Irisviel walks out first, looking subdued, and Ilya follows after. She looks better, though, and smiles at you as you watch her, your chin resting on the arm of the chair. She rolls forward and holds her hand out; you smile and squeeze it gently as Sella walks over. Kiritsugu finally leaves the sitting room, and after closing the door he brushed past Irisviel to stand near Patchouli.

"What do you want with Illya?" Your good mood fades - can't he wait just a minute or two? Again, Patchouli doesn't look up and simply turns the page in her book.

"Illyasviel? I have no plans concerning that girl. I will, however, be taking your daughter back with me." Kiritsugu's hand is suddenly holding that long pistol aimed squarely at the top of Patchouli's spine. "The one you threw away, I mean." You stiffen and your folded wings snap out, shredding the back of the chair you're curled up in. Ilya looks almost physically struck, too … and Irisviel looks down and away. You lift yourself up and stare at Kiritsugu, but he doesn't seem affected by Patchouli's accusation.

What do you do?

As satisfying as it would be to beat Kiritsugu like a drum, we did make a promise to be on our best behavior. I can see this turning into a bit of a brawl, though, so I kind of want to wait with Ilya to see what happens here?

Patche is still incredibly acerbic, but it's good not to be on the receiving end of it.

On the one hand, Ilya might want cheering up/a hug after her conversation. Or she might just want some time to think.

I am curious as to what the challenge is... I have the entirely unjustified notion that it's one of those "You must fight your shadow/reflection/clone" fights. It would, after all, be a foe that equals Flan in power and durability, and would also be an interesting learning experience.

While it might be fun to beat them up a bit (They'll heal!), I personally don't think it would be a good idea, especially not in front of Ilya. Maybe later?

[x] Take Ilya somewhere.
She looks upset, so distraction time. We can brutalise Kiritsugu or the challenge later. Unless we're too twitchy to be good company. Eh.

I personally think, its the Berserker card. If I remember it correctly, the card is trapped inside a building.

I'm of the opinion that the optional fight should wait until there's nothing important going on. This is important.

Next update should be up tomorrow. The update after that, however, will not be up until Friday at the earliest, and possibly Saturday.

Berserker fight starts on the roof of an office building; after he doesn't die to Miyu's Gae Bolg, they retreat inside.

Breakdown
[X] Take Ilya somewhere.

You duck your head and fight to control yourself. Much as you'd like to beat these people until their bones are a fine powder that absorbs all the blood in their bodies so you don't have to risk touching it … they look like Ilya's parents. Slowly, oh so slowly, your wings stop being aggressive angles, instead going back to shallow curves. Appearances … appearances matter. Your breathing starts up again, slow and steady - and when you feel mostly calm you swing yourself to the floor. It couldn't have been more than a minute, but it feels so much longer. Your head twitches to the side, looking for Ilya, but you snap it back and make the motion more graceful - the slow turn of a person looking for a friend, not the violent snap of a hunter looking for prey. "Ilya, let's go for a walk." She looks worriedly at you for a moment before nodding.

"Sella, Leys, come with us." The maids bow in unison and Sella begins pushing Ilya toward the door.

"Stay in the building," Patchouli says, and you shoot a hateful glare at her, one that is, as usual, ineffective - although this time there's at least the excuse that she isn't even looking at you. Still, it doesn't do anything good for your emotions, and Leysritt opens the door only a few steps before you reach it. Your mood is foul enough that you don't even acknowledge her; instead, you simply slip past her and stalk down the hallway toward the elevator. You wait inside it as patiently as you can for Ilya and her servants to join you, then hit the button for the ground floor.

"… Flan? About Kiritsugu and Irisviel …." Ilya trails off as you shake your head violently. "In a little bit?" You nod grudgingly, and when Ilya touches your arm you think you hear her whisper 'thank you.' But what to do …? Sella clears her throat.

"Perhaps we should find the dining area and kitchen?" Food … it won't really do you any good, but if you can manage to sit down and eat maybe you can force yourself to be properly civilized. You nod.

"Good thinking, Sella." You can't see it happen, but you can imagine Sella's face turning red as she bows to Ilya. That's good - they should get along. When the doors open you skip out and bounce ahead, trying to burn up as much of your furious energy as you can. Unfortunately, despite the complete absence of other people, the signs directing you to the dining area are infuriatingly clear, so you can't even get any satisfaction from finding it. Instead, after waiting for Ilya and her maids to catch up, you wander through the tables, looking for a good table with the right feel for you to sit at with Ilya. That doesn't work out very well, either, and after a few minutes you just stand in the middle of the floor, head down, trying to not have a fit and destroy the furniture. "Flan? Do you think we could make dumplings again?" It takes a few moments for the question to penetrate your haze of anger, and another couple seconds before you can force yourself to nod. Leysritt is ahead of you this time, already moving toward the kitchen entrance, and you follow her.

Leysritt searches the few cupboards for the utensils you'll need while Sella looks for a storeroom with ingredients. You go to one of the cooking areas and study it for a moment, but Ilya maneuvers her chair to a lower work area, and she's right - you'll have to make the dumplings before you can cook them, after all! You walk over to her and lean sideways against the chair; she reaches across with her hand to hold your arm gently. You duck your head and squeeze your eyes shut. Sella brings the dough-making stuff and places it in front of you, then backs away so you and Ilya can work. Did Ilya say something you missed? Mixing up the dough isn't too difficult, but when it comes to actually making the dumplings you fumble terribly. Ilya with her one arm does better than you, and after your dozenth failure you slam your fists into the workstation.

"… I hate her," you whisper, growling more than speaking, and you see Ilya look down at her lap.

"I'm sure they regret it," she says quietly, looking up when you shake your head fiercely.

"Not them - Patchouli." You snarl the name of the witch and stomp away from your stunned friend. "Kiristugu and Irisviel - they're not stupid, right? They're not morons who can't make connections given a really obvious clue, right? So why did Patchouli say what she said?" You half-turn, staring intently at Ilya through the corner of one blazing eye, and right when she seems to get it you continue. "Yes. She knows me, knows what sets me off - and she chose to make it perfectly clear that they did something to this other daughter. She could have said 'first daughter' - or 'second,' I suppose - or 'the one who died,' or 'was lost,' or any number of other things that wouldn't have set me off. But no! She has to say something like that! And why would she say something like that right in front of me? Because she knows that it'll make me angry, and that I tend to react violently when I get angry. She wanted to use me! SHE -" All of a sudden your emotions compress and you stiffen before slumping, hugging your knees to your chest. "I hate her." It takes a little bit, but before you can burst into a rage again, a small body drapes itself against your back, one arm reaching around your neck to hug you.

"I'm sorry, Flan." You shake your head - it's not her fault.

"She probably wanted me to attack Kiritsugu so she could haul me off and show them just how outclassed they are." Bitterness seeps through your voice and you shiver, suddenly feeling cold.

"Do you want to talk to her about it? We'd all help!" Tears flood your eyes again and you shake your head.

"She came here ready to fight that Archer, remember? She has all sorts of contingencies and protections that would make that pointless." You wipe your eyes and shudder again. "I just want to kill something, to make it suffer -!" You start rocking gently, trying to keep yourself from throwing a tantrum or having a breakdown with Ilya on your back. Sella coughs loudly.

"Lady Flandre? Perhaps you could make use of the 'reward' that Miss Knowledge offered?" Ilya makes an inquisitive noise as you slow your rocking.

"… She said I'd been doing well and keeping myself under control, so she set up something on the roof. A fight, one that I could lose - which means that it's a challenge of some kind, a real fight." Maybe it's what you need … but your stomach turns at the idea of accepting anything else from the witch-librarian.

What do you do?

[ ] Go up to the roof.

[ ] Keep trying to do things with Ilya.

DM Note: Again, the next update won't be until Friday at the earliest, and possibly Saturday.

I vote we refuse to give Patchy any sort of satisfaction whatsoever.

[x]Keep trying to do things with Ilya.
-[x] Play some games. Board, card, whatever seems interesting.

I do hope we avoid fighting, just to further spite Patchouli and prove her wrong.

While avoiding fighting to prove to Patchouli that Flan has gotten better at controlling herself and settle down, Flan is not good enought to keep those anger and stress under control for long period for long. If Flan want to continue to make sound judgment in the close future, she need to relieve her stress.

[x] Go up to the roof.
