[X] Skip to seeing Ilya.

That tour was a lot more interesting than i was thinking, but i should have expected something like Remi hoarding art of all kinds over the centuries.

Sakuya isn't there at the moment - maybe she's asleep
If Sakuya sleeps anywhere except inside her timestop i would be very surprised.

The timestop for that long would take a lot of mana/magic to pull off.

Im pretty sure Sakuyas timestop has no or no significant cost to it, just like how she makes the Mansion constantly bigger on the inside through use of her powers.
But rereading how she describes her "timestop" ability in WaHH it's actually just her moving so fast that from her perspective time stands still, which she manages by setting her mass to zero.
So the sleeping in the timestop thing wouldn't work anyways. Maybe she could accelerate her sleeping through the use of regular time manipulation by speeding her personal time up but that's just speculation.

The problem with that is that she explicitly has time-manipulation powers, which she shouldn't if her ability were just her moving really fast. In the Marisa A ending for EoSD, she mentions being able to make bamboo flowers bloom in no time despite them normally taking sixty years to bloom, and in the Scarlet Team Scenario of Imperishable Night, Sakuya is the one halting the night and keeping time from progressing.

She does have time manipulation that can slow down the progression of time or speed it up for specific things but it isn't strong enough to completely stop time for everything, which is why she does the zero mass trick.

Is that speculation or is it explicitly stated?
She says it herself in Wild and Horned Hermit chapter 35 when Reimu and Kasen ask her if she is the one behind the vanishing villagers.
i don't know what it says in the original since i don't have it and cant read moonrunes but the manga is written by Zun so its as canon as it gets.

That contradicts what we see in basically every other instance of Sakuya showing up. I'd call it either a mistranslation or inconsistency.

Hm. While I believe there is a statement by ZUN that newer games are to be taken as true (overriding earlier ones) - I can't find that statement, for one, and also I'm not sure if it applies to all material or just the games.

That said ... it being an in-character statement is frustrating. Because pretty much every out-of-character/Word of God statement is that she manipulates time, all the way back to her EoSD Omake.txt ("(If she cleans when time is stopped, it won't raise dust."). And 'stopping time' being a figurative ability based on raising her own speed rather than literally true makes several events if not impossible then much more complicated - cleaning, for example, because it requires affecting other objects, and her teacup-switching trick in Curiosities of Lotus Asia. If you change those from 'stop time' to 'move really fast,' then you have physics to deal with - things like how she can throw knives while moving at such high speeds and not make those knives also move so fast as to be imperceptible - and makes (at least) Spell Card Deflation World really goddamn weird because it's explicitly overlapping future and past onto the present and if she can do that but not stop time then :/ Moreover, Sakuya actually has a reason to lie, even if it's unnecessary to do so. I mean, she also told Aya, "Yes, I can stop time, but not the night," in her interview.

And I had something else that dropped out of my head when I was putting thoughts together, but whatever. I'm going to chalk it up to Sakuya not being truthful unless and until it's backed up by future statements from ZUN or official profiles.

It wouldn't be the first time a Touhou character has tried to get out of work by lying through their teeth.

Ilya Again
[X] Skip to seeing Ilya.

"… So, when are we getting the full tour?" You look at Deis for a moment before shrugging.

"Well, like I said, I'd need to get permission for some areas, and we're going to be busy for a while - or I'm going to be elsewhere - so it could be a while. For now …." You stretch and float forward off the railing. "For now, I'm going to do some relaxing if it's okay. Don't want to be too excitable tomorrow." Deis nods and sighs.

"Yeah, I'm still not sure if I'm coming to that." You shrug again.

"You have some time to make up your mind - and even if you don't come with Ilya and me, you can come on your own later on." You float toward her and 'pat' her head, leading her to swat at you with a burst of wind. "Hmph. And you, Satsuki? Anything you need or want to do?" She shakes her head.

"No, Flandre-sama."

"Then I have one more thing for you to do before I let you go for the night, but it'll have to wait until we get back to my room. Are you coming with us, Deis?" She shrugs.

"Sure, why not?" You clap your hands and lead them back down to the library, and then to your room. Once there you have Satsuki change into a more formal uniform - and then you paint her portrait. You'll have it put in a proper frame and everything, then give it to her as a gift. You also make a painting of Ershin, and the little tsukumogami manages to convince Deis to appear in it as well. That, too, will be given to them when it's ready and they have a place to put it.

Then you pass the hours lazily - a few simple magic squares, some simple piano pieces, picking a random book from the library and reading it for a while, and just laying on a couch without any greater meaning. You even take a nap after breakfast with Satsuki.

You wait impatiently in your room until shortly before Patchouli's ban expires, then make yourself walk at a normal pace to where Ilya is. You don't want to make it seem like you're desperate to see her again, but you also don't want her to feel like you aren't worried about her … and if you wait for too long, you won't be able to get her to the party early enough. You are quite relieved when, ten minutes after the ban expires, you walk into the lab area and Ilya perks up immediately. You hurry forward and hug Ilya as Sella and Leysritt bow politely. She leans into you and returns the hug as well as she can.

"Are you feeling better, Ilya? Was Patchouli too irritating? Did she make sure you had enough to eat? Do you want -" You clamp your mouth shut, cutting off the stream of questions, and pull out of the hug, making sure to keep Ilya steady until she regains her balance. "Are you feeling better? Whatever was wrong with you yesterday isn't a problem anymore?" She pouts at you, seeming … both irritated and embarrassed? After a moment she looks down and shakes her head.

"Um, I'm fine, Flan. Really. It's just …." She peeks back up at you, and embarrassment is plain on her face. "I was … scared, yesterday." You blink in confusion.

"Of Marisa?"

"Of Marisa … of those magic blasts she was firing toward the end. Those are powerful, Flan, and even though they're limited by the Spell Card system, in terms of magical energy they were close to a Noble Phantasm. And she was just … shooting them out without a care." She hesitates and you tilt your head.

"But that's because she uses her …." Realization dawns and you blush. Did you tell her about that?

"I-I must have forgotten about it. And I didn't realize that she was one of the best human mages in Gensokyo even without counting it, so … um, I thought that she was the usual kind of mage." She lowers her head again.

"I - I think I forgot to tell you about it, Ilya. And if I did, it would have been back at your castle, that one night when we were just talking. So it's not your fault, especially since I should have explained things better - well, since I really shouldn't have taken you to see the duel in the first place." Ilya looks up, almost pouting again - but after a moment she laughs a little and shakes her head.

"Alright, we're equally guilty. Anyway, Patchouli told me about it, and since it really is a legendary tool, the amount of power it has isn't so scary. Umm …." She frowns, trying to remember your questions, but looks up brightly before you can repeat any of them. "We did eat, but - there'll be food at the party?" You nod.

"Yup! And maybe a big fish that I brought back yesterday." Her eyes widen and she giggles.

"That's good." Her expression falls and she shifts uncomfortably. "Umm … you remember what I told your sister? That I wanted to go with you to Mid-Childa?" You watch her carefully and slowly nod. She blushes again and looks down. "Um, Patchouli … offered to take me to see my parents. If I stayed, anyway, because she wanted as simple a trip as possible, but -" She gives you an unhappy look and clenches her hand, trying to hug herself. You lean forward and hug her again. You aren't sure why Patchouli would make that kind of offer, but she probably isn't planning anything unsavory. Even if you didn't know and just asked what had happened to Ilya if she vanished, the truth would have come out, especially once Remilia got involved. So it probably is an offer in good faith, but … why make it? You support Ilya again as she sits upright.

"… I don't know why she would do something like that, but - well, like with your arm and leg. If you want to go see them, go. They're your family, right?" She nods, slowly and hesitantly. You try to look into her eyes, to see what she's actually feeling, but she shakes her head quickly and takes a quick breath to center herself.

"A-anyway. So the party will be soon, right?" You recognize the attempt to shift the conversation for what it is, but it's fine. If you think of a reason for her to not trust Patchouli, you'll let her know. "Will … will these clothes be fine?" She looks down at her shirt and skirt and takes the empty sleeve in her hand. You pat her head and smile.

"Yep. Although Sakuya did say that she made some nice dresses for you if you want to wear something different …." You look around the lab area. She didn't say where they were, though, so - you hop away from Ilya's bed and fly toward one of the bookshelves. That cabinet wasn't there before. You open it and find several dresses hanging inside. You turn back and almost gesture for her to come over, but it seems her servants recognize your meaning. Leysritt gently picks up Ilya and carries her over to the cabinet - slowly, but without any of the shuffling or limping you would expect from someone who'd been as badly hurt as she was.

"Can you take them out, Flan?" You nod and open the cabinet fully and take out the first dress - pale lavender, sleeveless, with a white cloth 'belt' adorned with a lavender flower. Another flower serves as a headpiece, and there is a bracelet and matching shoes as well. Ilya stares at it, taken aback, and swallows before nodding. You hang it back up and take out the next one - a white skirt with purple flower prints, a purple shirt and black jacket, and a purple-and-red jeweled necklace. Ilya nods more slowly and you hang it back up. The third dress you take out is a strapless purple-and-white dress, with a darker purple belt and choker and white gloves. It, too, has a lavender flower, and after another nod you put it away. The final dress causes Ilya to stiffen unhappily, however - a simple white dress with gold trim. She shakes her head quickly and you put it back. She looks irritated by that dress, for some reason … but you shouldn't pry. Instead your clones slip out and take up the three dresses that Ilya indicated that she liked.

"I guess she only made the four dresses. She did say that Patchouli might be able to help if you wanted something else, but I'm not sure how well whatever she does will work or fit." Ilya nods and looks at the three dresses before looking nervously at you.

"What will you be wearing?" You shrug.

"I hadn't thought about it, really. If it makes you feel better, I could try to match how fancy my outfit is to yours." You grin and lean closer. "Or do you want me to choose for both of us?" Ilya blushes and looks down, and you tap her nose. "It's okay, Ilya. I haven't been to a party in a long time, so it's a new experience for both of us!" She smiles before glancing at Sella, but the servant shrugs helplessly as well. You shake your head in mock-sadness.

DM Note: Next update will go over Ilya's 'cover story' and the opening of the party. If you want to be horrible people and make Ilya unhappy, you can vote for the Einzbern dress. Ilya's dresses:

EXTRAVAGANT. FLAN ACQUIRES DRILL HAIR, TERRIFIES FAIRIES.

(No but seriously I have no idea what outfits match which option, but I'm largely tempted to suggest [] Elegant just because I think it's probably closest to what Remi will be doing.)

We want to look closer to our sister, though. Not only that, but all the kingpins are gonna be there, so might as well look presentable, but not making ourselves look like the self proclaimed ruler of Gensokyo.

Not only that... As while the intention of the party is lighthearted, the tension of the party is going to be Cancerous (for lack of other term). One wrong move and we are going to have 60 duel requests in the same day.

We do have to keep in mind however, this is a political celebration.

What I mean is while we are actually single people, All of us have at bare minimum the power of a military brigade (command) . Take it as every single person here is an ambassador to a country, but they themselves are the country, and have the power of it at the same time. We need to act cool here, don't make to many infractions and we will be fine. Expect to be approached by a lot of people; Including the kingpins; Because one just doesn't just become friends with Flandre Scarlet. If Ilya comes, I suggest we stay next to her at all times. Take it as say, The Russian Federation, (us) suddenly becoming the greatest ally and friend of some new nation. Many people are going to think that it's temporary or for a political reason, but when they learn that it's not, but because that they are almost as powerful with conventional weapons (wmd for us would be our destruction ability) as us, they are going to be flocking to new nation, not only to increase relations, but because doing so might also increase relations with us, and potentially another Kingpin, Future Soviet Russia (Remilia). Yukari would be the Forerunners (Halo).

This is why, we need to be careful here. Let's look at this like a world wide/Galaxy Wide political stage in this one room. We are the Russian Federation, Remilia is a futuristic Soviet Union, Reimu is America, Marisa is the UK, Yukari is the Forerunners (Halo), Shiki Eiki Yamaxanadu is the United Nations/International Criminal Court, Komachi is the UN Peacekeepers, Alice is France (for obvious reasons) , Sakuya is a buffed Belarus/Ukraine Alliance, Patchy is The Chinese, Meiling is Mongolia, Eirin is the UFoP, Cirno is Nigeria, Mima (If she shows up) Is an interstellar empire, Shinki would be Xeelee (Universe + Finale feats), Yuuka would be the Imperium of Man, and Aya would be somekind of weaponized Fox News with MFTL+ travel.

At this stage, you get the point. Some aren't because they are like that in terms of strength, but because of Connections. If you would like to make new suggestions or change things, I'm fine with it, but this is pretty much what I've gathered at the moment.

I have probably skipped some (that are most likely are going to be chosen on propose by the gm) But this guide, with help, Could be a suitable guide line on how to treat certain characters.

Now, the Reason why we don't want to dress Extravagantly is because of Politics. We don't want to look like we are declaring ourselves Superior to everyone else, It will cause a storm, in the form of people finding our choice of attire threatening. Some thing less than that but still symbolizing our status as a potential Gensokyian Super power is good.

The reason being is that with the fairy kingdom, that's like Nigeria and some other minor nations forming an alliance of sorts. It still won't hold up in the world/galactic stage, but...

If the vote to make them ours won, it would be like Russia annexing those nations. Major Political debacle ensues for our allies and ourselves and we would look like we are trying expand past our borders.

Since everyone here is technically a nation of their own, in terms of power levels and connections/allies, (Yukari would have Yuyuko and her entourage, etc.) Deis and Ilya are basically brand new nations from an alternate time line, but they can't know that. It would be like the Government revels that Aliens are real in the middle of a party. Not going to end well politically, mostly because The Fox News Empire is going to be there as well. Not only that, but since we are going to be around them, the World/Galactic stage is going to have some questions. We need to cover for her, kind of like a representative to filter out the curious nations. Wheter they like it or not, they are now new Nation-People. (Because they are not City-states... Or Nation-States, so they are Nation-People.) Same goes for Agito and Lutecia.

EDIT: Danmaku/Spell card Battles would be the equivalent of simulators/Wargames.

In my Opinion, Dress 2 Looks like a more Elegant Option, rather than a Formal party, Which this is technically, but I don't expect others to dress the same way.

Also because it looks like the most non over-the-top-dress here.

There aren't that many people in Gensokyo willing to challenge Flan to a Spell Card duel, much less a 1v1 actual fight. :)

(No but seriously I have no idea what outfits match which option,
With Ilya, the dresses align with the pictures - 'Dress One' is the first picture, 'Dress Two' is the second, 'Dress Three' is the third. With Flan, 'Moderately Fancy' corresponds with Dress 2, and 'Elegant' would go with either Dress 1 or Dress 3. Moderately Fancy/Dress 2 are things that they could wear as 'normal' clothes without raising any eyebrows; Elegant/Dress 1/Dress 3 are things that are obviously more formal wear. 'Extravagant' would be like Flan's equivalent of the Dress of Heaven.

(Most people are going to be wearing normal or their equivalent of Moderately Fancy.)
