[X] Find a book and read to Ilya.
"Well then, why don't I read to you?" Her pout vanishes, replaced by a more curious expression, and she watches you.
"What sort of thing were you planning on reading?" You tilt your head to the side, frowning in thought for a moment.
"Well, I had thought of reading you Parzival, but it's kind of long and not something you need to hear - besides, the timing is all wrong for it." Her eyes narrow suspiciously.
"Oh? What kind of story is it?" You blink, a little surprised that she hasn't heard of it.
"It's about one of King Arthur's greatest knights. It's something that I think the Einzberns should have made mandatory reading, given that it's about the search for the Grail." She frowns but doesn't say anything. "Would you like to hear other stories? Not about great heroes and gods, but about more normal people?" She considers it for some time before slowly nodding.
"Alright." You clap your hands and she sighs quietly.
"Ah, but before I go get the book …." You motion for Sella to come over and help Ilya sit up. "Okay, now Sella, sit on the bed." She scowls indignantly.
"I couldn't! It is not proper, and Lady Illyas-!" She squeaks as you yank her onto the bed, and Ilya giggles as you force Sella where you want her. Then you lean Ilya against her, and the servant's face flushes bright red.
"Is that comfortable, Ilya?" She sinks back against Sella and nods contentedly, even smiling when Sella strokes her hair. "Alright, now don't fall asleep. I'll be right back." You hop back and flit out of the area, although they seem content enough that you probably don't need to hurry on their account. Of course, you do want to start reading, so you fly through the library, looking not for a book, but for someone … and you nearly collide with Koakuma anyway. That's probably more your fault since she's carrying a stack of books nearly up to eye level.
"Oh! Flandre-san! My apologies. Are you looking for something?" You nod quickly.
"Yes, I'm looking for a - a specific book." She sighs disappointedly, but she's already used that joke on you and you want to find it quickly. "A collection of human stories. It has the one about the seven Swabians and the boy who doesn't know what fear is and all the rest." Her eyes lose focus and her head tilts to the right, but after a few seconds she shakes her head and a small reddish orb appears in front of her.
"That should take you to the right book; if it doesn't, hold it and when I get a moment I can refine the search for you." You nod jerkily and the orb zips off.
"Thank you, Koakuma!" You fly after it, but since it's limited to Koakuma's own relatively sedate pace, it's easy to catch it, and it's only a minute before the orb comes to a rest at one bookshelf. You find the book you're looking for on the third shelf and clap your hands. "Thank you," you say again, and the orb winks out. With the book in hand you zoom through the library back to Ilya. You dive down and come to a halt on the other side of the bed. Ilya smiles. "Story time!" She snuggles back against Sella and you begin with the first story - The Seven Swabians. It's a very short story, but as you finish the tale of Herr Schulz, Jackli, Marli, Jergli, Michal, Hans, and Veitli, you look up to see Ilya staring at you. She shakes her head and tries to say something, but can't speak.
"… I thought you had said these would be about normal people, Lady Flandre?" You nod at Sella's confused question.
"It is! Well, they're normal for Swabians, anyway." Ilya sighs and shakes her head. "Ready for the next one?" Ilya nods and you turn to The Story of a Boy Who Went Forth to Learn Fear. She frowns when you finish.
"… But that shouldn't have happened. If there really were ghosts and the like haunting that castle, he should have been killed, whether he was afraid or not." You nod and shrug.
"Well, most people weren't able to break the curse, so maybe there wasn't really anything there, only illusions. And the boy was too stupid to realize that, so he 'fought' them and won."
"So the point of that story was that 'magic' and 'hauntings' are just illusions, not real?" You shrug again.
"These were written for normal people, so if they could be made to believe that magic doesn't exist, that would weaken magicians, wouldn't it? Youkai need to be believed in to maintain their existence, after all. Of course, it could just be that if you're brave and stand up to 'magic,' you'll be fine and win the riches, but that usually just leads to dead 'heroes.'" Ilya nods thoughtfully before staring intently at you.
"The next one!" You smile and turn to the next story. Sometimes Ilya has something to say about the story, and other times she simply laughs and wants you to keep reading. But before you're even halfway through the book she starts yawning, lulled by your voice, and it's not long before she falls asleep. You close the book and set it on a nearby table, and smile up at Sella. "Do you want me to help you out?" She looks down at the sleeping girl, then over at Leysritt, and finally shakes her head.
"No, thank you. I think I would like to stay like this for a while." You nod and brush Ilya's hair a few times. Sella clears her throat and you look up at her. "If I may ask a favor, Lady Flandre? That other story you spoke of - Parzival? Could I read it?" You stare up at her for a moment, contemplating her desire for the book, but before she can start to withdraw her request you nod.
"I'll get it, Sella. Curious about what I meant?" She nods and looks down at Ilya. "I'll be right back." You curtsy and hop into the air. You know where to get a copy of this book, at least, and you fly to the wall of the library. Somewhere around here there's a reading room. It mostly has Remilia's stuff in it, but - you clap your hands and dart down to the unassuming door. It's unlocked, of course, and you slip inside. In contrast to the well-ordered library, most of the shelves here are haphazardly filled; if there's any organizational pattern, only your sister knows what it is. And on a far wall is a shelf with your paltry collection of books - some art books, some music books, a few pieces of literature. You take out Parzival and hold it carefully. It's still in very good condition, and you open it to a random page and laugh at yourself - the description of the Grail. Shaking your head, you exit the reading room and return to Sella.
"Thank you, Lady Flandre. I shall take very good care of it." You smile and spread your arms.
"It looks like Satsuki fell asleep, so I'm going to take her back to her room. Is there anything else I can get you?" She shakes her head. "I'll see you later, then." You hurry over to your servant and carefully lift her up. She doesn't seem like she's going to wake up anytime soon, but you're still gentle and set her in her bed before loosening her uniform. That does seem like a good idea ….
