I kind of feel like we need to wander into the basement first and realize just how god-awful this fucker really is.

Or, you know, kill him first for being a monster worse even than most Youkai.

I'm conflicted, definitely want to have this end in nuking the Carronade and also Yuna though.

I think the memories of the incident with Remilia + the fact we haven't truly cut loose for a long time is enough of a reason to start a rampage right now. I don't know what's in the basement since I haven't played BoF IV (and I don't want to be spoiled for this quest), but we'd probably find whatever is there in our rampage anyway.

These people seem very interesting. Let's hang out with them some more.

[x] Show Yuna the Grief Seeds.
- [x] And ask him if he can use them in the Carronade. Try to bring out a Witch if necessary.
[x] Then follow Yuna into the basement. Offer advice if you have any.

[X] Destroy Astana. Start from the Cannonade and keep expanding until you feel satisfied.
- [X] Target Yuna first, he seems to be a focal point of the discomforting feeling you got from this place.

... No. Flan has no reason to target Yuna in particular - in fact, she has more reason to spare him than anyone else in Astana, because he's actually useful.

Anyone up to point me in the first update related to the latest world, or preferably a general summary of the latest events/choices/options?
Entered the world of Breath of Fire IV here.

Yuna of all people answers our questions. Of course. If it wasn't for that incident with Remilia and the Vampires we'd probably get along with him really well IC. As it is, he makes her twitch.
If it wasn't for the incident with Remilia, I'd probably go for trying to get a mini-cannonade and/or learning more about how this all works.
I feel I should point out that once Flan realized why the firing chamber made her feel weird, she relaxed. She is not feeling problematic at all ... although, given her prevailing attitude has been "start a great big scrap sooner or later," fighting a bunch of people is her current plan. At the least, it would be oddly out-of-character for her to leave Astana without setting it on fire.

Would she see it as something interesting a human's accomplishing or an abomination against what it means to be a youkai/kami.
Or, you know, kill him first for being a monster worse even than most Youkai.
As far as Flan knows, he's not that monstrous or horrible. Torturing humans and monsters for power and profit isn't something out of context in her mind. More importantly, he hasn't done anything to her, or to people she has a close connection with.

Also, guys, a lid on the spoilers? Toeing the spoiler line a bit.
And what makes you think that Flan will look at Elina and say "Oh my god, Yuna is a horrible monster who needs to die!" and not "... Oh my god, Yuna, make something stronger!"?

*Shrug* I flat out wasn't sure. That thing he made is kinda... an abomination really is the only word for it. I really don't know how she would take something like that. Physically it wouldn't gross her out, but the idea of taking all those things and just squishing them together...? I wasn't sure how she would look at something like that.

The one time we're in any position to murder the bastard and we're playing amoral vampire. Figures.

Well, we have no reason to murder just him. Starting with him and expanding out into the town like my vote goes for seems reasonable though.

She hasn't really had a chance to let loose in a long time and even if she didn't get any emotional response for some reason out of this place reminding her of her sister being tortured, maybe it gave her some bloodlust from remembering slaughtering her way to saving her? That or Entropy just really loves Yuna for some reason as there's plenty of "useful" people Flan has brutally slaughtered over this quest.

There is an absolutely brain-bleach-inducing piece of fanart I've seen that this reminded me of. For that, you get a Funny.

This, though, is true. Starting the destruction of Astana while standing within arm's reach of Yuna is fine; it's killing just Yuna that's an issue.

The breadth of fanart is truly.... encompassing.

Nice to know. Before I decide to probably just stick with my vote, when you said she wasn't feeling problematic at all about the environment do you mean it wouldn't be a motivation to start a rampage at all? I mean, do the memories triggered by the environment really not make her bloodthirsty or melancholy at all?

We cut loose before we left Skyrim, I'd like to work on developing habits that could convince Remilia that Flandre is 'safe' enough to let roam around Gensokyo or just Scarlet Devil Mansion.
Not offering him seeds due to the way hexes can permanently screw up a city like nuclear fallout, so giving him super radiation Nukes doesn't sound like a good idea.
Remilia is interested in this world, let's not screw it up for her as well, Skyrim at least was ultimately confined to a 'Dragon God Ban' for Flandre.

[X] Follow Yuna into the basement. Offer advice if you have any.

After the basement, let's focus on looting shopping.

Not really; Giltless is freaking out because it's (basically) a more concentrated, if much less powerful, sensation as the Chamba Hex, but Flan isn't bothered by that. Flan felt the room as being similar to where she found Remilia, but because they don't have the right connection (IE, Remilia was never held and tortured in this room, and the room where that did happen was destroyed), Flan isn't particularly bothered by it. She recognized the connection, then dismissed it as a connection because, as far as she's concerned, the similarities aren't enough to warrant it.

That said, being reminded of what happened to Remilia isn't exactly going to make Flan happy; it just won't do anything to meaningfully affect her ability to make her own choices.

This is a bit of a Catch 22. On the one hand, going nuts here and now means Yuna (probably) dies and <REDACTED> never gets hexed. On the other hand, it probably means Rhun and Ursula are biting the dust, and that just ain't right either.

When in doubt, non-interference as much as possible.

Paying respect to spoilers....

It's worth noting that destroying an Empire's town is the kind of thing that will get us on Fou-lu's shitlist, if the Empire hasn't already gotten on his shitlist. And he may put us on his shitlist on general principle for massacring his people.

I mean if he knew how awful the place was he'd likely be better disposed to its destruction. But Flan probably wouldn't actually care about that, and Fou-lu would likely recognize that. Plus, Fou-lu would have to know things besides, "Crazy girl/Endless destroyed Carronade and Astana." Assuming Fou-lu considers us Endless. He may treat us with respect for that, but our motive was still essentially stirring the shit in his country to fight and kill people. He'd probably consider himself obligated to protect or avenge his people.

On one hand, this place and Yuna in particular need to be destroyed. On the other hand, I'd really rather be on Fou-lu's good side.

The whole building just shuddered, didn't it? I thought that meant they fired at someone. But point.
That's almost certainly Elena moving about. Yuna even referred to it as his little project, and something was echoing up from the central shaft I believe?

So yeah almost definitely Elena.

Also if this was firing at Fou-lu we'd probably be seeing Yohm here.

Partial Reason why I want Flandre to find things other than 'Destroying things, lol.' Fun.
I also find 'Bored, better destroy something' to be too self-destructive.

If they were firing at anyone, there'd be a victim in the room with you right now, being forcibly turned into bad juju.
