Guys?
Don't be
fucking stupid.
It's a
generalisation of two similar
but not exactly situations. If you're having trouble understanding that I'm highlighting the similarities of the situations, not outright saying Aisha was being physically and mentally abused to the same level Dinah was, that's your own problem.
Note:
almost a mirror of each other in a lot of ways
Not '
exactly a mirror in
every way'.
Big difference.
In any case, the main point is that he couldn't recognise Dinah out of the other 350+k people in Brockton Bay. He's as likely to help her as any of you are as likely to actually care about someone you've never met: Other than acknowledging that she's in a shitty situation? Not at all.
err no sorry
@Franklymydear coil is not and never has been Dinah's Guardian. he KIDNAPED her so no its not remotely the same situation.
I never said 'legal' guardian. He's providing for her (though hardly at a level you'd want), he's keeping her safe (from everyone other than himself), and he controls her life.
[QUOTin various waysE="Datakim, post: 6737811, member: 1953"]He could have sought a solution that would save both Dinah AND Aisha.
...
it was certainly possible (as ultimately happened).[/QUOTE]
Except that what happened was Leviathan rolled into town, fucked up everything to the point that "I have a roof and more than $100." was all it took to convince people you were a capable guardian, and he was handed Aisha because people had better things to worry about.
He would have had that without Coil at all simply because the city was that shit.
Otherwise he would have had to find work and spend years working his way up to the point he had a decent bank statement that proved his income and a house, while attempting to have savings. In Brockton Bay. As a black, basically educated, criminal history, guy.
Yeah, I can totally see that happening in the provided timeframe before Aisha just cuts and runs, or gets herself killed because her father can't keep her in the house.
Brian
needed Coil. Lisa wanting to take over Coil's organisation wasn't something Brian knew anything about until later, and even if he did he wouldn't have gone along with the
incredible long-shot that that chance was.
she was moved to her dad's place after the incident where Brian triggered. He wants to get custody because their father has no idea how to raise a girl, not because the man is abusive.
That's pretty abusive to a young person as it is. No, it's certainly
not to the same level as what Dinah's going through, but that's how Brian sees it because he's actually able to witness Aisha's declining personality and knows her personally.
Also:
Hadn't his father basically checked out of it and more or less let her do whatever she wanted? Which is a very bad thing, to be honest.
