It's not that perfect happy ending, but damn if it doesn't hit so much harder. Nothing was wrapped up in full, yet the story ran its perfect course.

All in all, I don't think we could have asked for a better journey with Brie, and I'm sure that even if an official sequel is never made, someones going to try to pick up the torch.

Rabbit, this quest was a hell of an adventure. Thanks for the memories, and for letting me make my obligatory post-finale speech.

Good luck on what endeavors you challenge next.

Honestly, this is a better ending than I'd ever imagined the quest getting. Kudos to whoever suggested the write-in and to Rabbit for doing such an amazing job fleshing it out. Not everyone got what they wanted, but they got to move towards tomorrow and were free to continue seeking happiness.

Thanks for the amazing ride, everyone. Maybe one day we'll see a continuation of Brie and Mebd's adventures, but their story could end here and it would still feel right. You earned that gilded status Rabbit.

Best of luck with the future, if you end up writing another story I'll be sure to be there.

Alright folks, what I got for you here is a little thing I wrote during the height of the tension on the thread.
I hope it's somewhat enjoyable for you.
EDIT:
Titled:
To feel it's warmth
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[X] Summon Caladbolg and stab her through her back. Do it quickly and make it painless.

You know what you must do, you summon Caladbolg and raise your blade behind your lovers back.

You know thousands will die if you don't, but as you brace your arms for the thrust you freeze.

You can't do it, not to her.

You shake and fall to your knees as your sword clatters to the ground, the horror of your actions now clear to you.

"What was I about to do?"

You were the only thing Brie had ever loved, you were there from the start the first memories she had were of you. To her you were the only thing that mattered, she was willing to let the world burn if it meant she could be with you.

And you were about to stab her in the back.

You can't do that, not after all you've been through.

Ruler looks quizzically at you. "Rider are you ok?"

Brie puts forward her hand for you to take. "C'mon Rider, it's time."

No, you've made your choice. You can't kill Brie but maybe you can still save the city "Ruler, Bries isn't going to save the city." Rulers eyes lock on Brie.

"Eh? What are you talking about Rider, there's nothing left but to make the wish to save the city right?" Brie shuffles awkwardly under the saint's gaze.

You shake your head. "No, Brie the least we can do is be honest at the end."

Brie grabs you by your shoulders. "What's this change of heart? Since when did you care about virtue?"

"I can't let you do this, I won't let you become like me." her eyes go over the sword next to your hands.

"Ri-der?"

Ruler nods solemnly cutting Brie off. "There's nothing for it then, Brie before you make your wish I have a request for you. I'm asking not as the supervisor of this grail war, but as your friend."

Ruler plants her flag in-between Brie and the grail.

"I know what I'm asking you is unfair but please, don't let a city burn."

Brie's eyes warily scan the room as she takes a few paces back.

Ruler holds her gaze steady on her as she squirms.

"Please do not make me repeat myself, in spite of my position I care for you both, this isn't easy for me either."

Brie starts shaking "I can't lose her..."

She turns to you a wide-eyed look of betrayal on her face, with tears in her eyes.

"Rider?" her gaze asks the question why?

"I'm sorry." you can't hold it in anymore and begin to cry. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I don't want you to become like me."

You can't look her in the eyes as you try and curl up in a ball.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry."

You feel a flick on your forehead

"Oww!"

"You stupid queen, why'd you go and do something like that." Brie crosses her arms pouting and turns away from you. "Hmph, I guess it was all a lie then, I was such a fool for believing that you could love me."

You hold your forehead confused. "W-what?"

"You go out late every night and don't come home until early, hours of the morning, who knows what you get up to." she spins and places her finger on your nose a mischievous smile on her face. "Who." she tapes your nose. "knows."

You blink once, twice.

"I thought you'd be angry?"

She nods, "oh, yes I am, livid. And hurt too, How could you betray me at the last moment like that? You're going to have to be punished for this, maybe something to do with cheese."

Your blood runs cold as the image of Brie chasing you with cheese covered lips enters your mind.

"Y-you wouldn't." a nervous smile plays across your face.

She tackles you in a hug, crushing your ribs. "Of, course I wouldn't you dummy. But I've told you before, I know who you are and I still love you."

"B-Brie, Please you're hurting me."

She lets go and smiles at you.

"Why'd you have to go and do something stupid like telling everyone eh? Trying to be a hero isn't like you."

You try to wipe the tears from your face. "I-I co-" The tears keep falling.

She cuts you off with a quick kiss to the cheek. "I told you, I love you in spite of your flaws, there's no need for you to change yourself for me." she turns back to Ruler.

"I'm sorry Jeanne but I'm not ready to give up on my wish."

A voice comes from the entrance.

"Trace on."

You turn to see Emiya standing in the entrance. "It's ok Medb, I didn't think you'd be able to stop her." He raises two blades one black, one white. "And I'm sorry Brie, I can't let the city burn. You're going to have to give up on your wish this time, maybe in another grail war-"

"NO!" Brie yells before taking a breath and calming down "I won this war, I won't have you take her from me."

The flutter of Rulers flag draws your attention as well. "I'm sorry Brie, it's not fair that you have to give it up but it has to be done." it's pointed at Brie who backs further away form the saint.

Brie raises her hand. "Rider I command you to protect me until I can make my wish!" a flash of red light illuminates the area as Brie dashes towards the grail.

Caladbolg appears in one hand, riding crop in the other as your body is already moving to support her. As you pass a row of pews you smash them the wreckage blocking Emiya's line of sight.

As Caladbolg crosses with Rulers flag you look her in the eyes. "I'm sorry Ruler."

She stares into you, eyes soft. "It's ok, you tried."

Bries scrabbles the last few feet towards the grail as you smack Emiya with your riding crop forcing him back.

"Rider let me through!"

Tears begin to fall to the floor around you.

"I can't I'm not betraying her again!"

You Grab Ruler and try to throw her into Emiya, but only succeed in falling to the floor yourself.

"Kyaa."

Emiya's gets caught on the tangle of bodies as he tries to get passed. "No." He attempts to reach out to Brie who has made it back to the grail.

"Holy grail! Give Rider a corporeal body, let her be alive again!"

Golden light fills the room and your vision is obscured as you lose consciousness.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You awake to a soft sensation under your head as you open your eyes.

"Wake up sleepy head."

You stare up into orange eyes as a hand runs through your hair.

"What happened?"

"We won, silly."

You blink. "What? where's Jeanne, Emiya?-"

Brie strokes your hair again a content smile on her face. "Jeanne faded with the grail and Mr Emiya Said something about having to go save the city and ran off to try and stop the magus association."

Brie leans down towards you. "But I tho-"

She cuts you off with a kiss, before leaning back. "Don't worry about it now, we'll find Scáthach later. She can help us get out of the city, right now I'm just glad I have you."

You smile as tears well up in your eyes, you reach out and grab her hand.

"And I'm glad I have you."

You close your eyes with a smile.

Whatever challenges there are in front of you, you're confident you'll overcome them together.

Thanks for yet another awesome quest Rabbit! It was a fun and feels-laden ride - the caustic friendship between Brie and Medb was always a treat to read, and your fight scenes and BGM picks are great as always. Will admit to being a little disappointed that we won't see alternate branchoffs, but it's totally understandable that you're feeling burnt out after all this.

Thank you for making this all possible and for letting Brie tidy things up a bit. She was such a fun character to write and I loved Medb more and more. I'll be saving my quartz for her and put her in the red warden outfit.

...wait. Hold up. You spent half a year, wrote 260k words, and you don't have Medb?

...was this quest a catalyst for summoning the fluffy queen? Damn, I sincerely hope you get her, because there's no justice in the world if you don't after all this. That's dedication.

Maybe if I'm up to it after a very long time. Maybe. Lots of things I want to work on.

In truth I only read it after the fact, though amusingly, when I was reading it was the exact time the sequel started! Anywho, I really really love Medb and Brie's dynamic and I'd love to see more of them some day, even if it's just a little one shot or something lol.

Love is War
A Queen and her Master were having dinner in a restaurant on the fifth of December. It was a normal place filled with people enjoying the holiday cheer and the silence between the two was broken by a Queen with a bored look.

"I have a question," Medb asked as she held a cup of tapioca.

Brie raised an eyebrow as she looked up from her phone, "What is it?"

"Why do Grail Wars always happen at Christmas?" Medb wondered before sipping her drink.

Brie gave her a weird look as she slowly set down her phone. She should have expected her Queen to say stupid things once in awhile but this question was something else. It may sound like a dumb question but the more she thought about it, it really didn't make sense. Maybe the guy who had the bright idea to start the War during the holidays thought it was some sick joke.

Or maybe Christmas was cursed. Brie found herself wondering if she should be surprised by this considering what hell she went through in the Land of Shadows with that goddamned hag in her Throne. Was there something about Christmas she was missing?

"I have no clue. What brought this up?" Brie asked as she leaned back in her seat.

"I want to wear a swimsuit," the Queen of Connacht declared as she glared at her Master in the eye.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" Brie choked as she tried to parse what this idiot was saying.

"I'm on a date with my girlfriend and I can't even show off because it's Winter! Also, why is it always cities in the northern Hemisphere of the world?! Some places don't even have snow, I can easily go to the Beach in a Swimsuit in December!" Medb continued to complain as she crossed her arms with a huff, drawing the gazes of nearby waiters and patrons in the fancy restaurant they were in.

Brie simply stared at her and considered her choices.

[] "Wow you're dumb."
[] "Well, you're a Queen, right? Can't you do whatever you want?"
[] "You're right, Medb, maybe you should wear a swimsuit."
[X] Keep your mouth shut and let her self destruct.

Brie kept her mouth shut as Medb kept talking.

"I swear if I see that one armed bastard again for starting this war, I'm going to kick his ass," Medb growled as she clenched her fist, "I mean, we've had this song and dance in the last War we fought, can't we get a different setting? Honestly, it's just reminding of that war a whole lot, I mean, a lot happened and you know..."

Here we go... That's the ticket.

"There's just snow everywhere and I thought I want to bring you the beach. We can go sunbathing, go surfing or something, kill Whales in the Ocean and then a romantic sunset dinner by the beach," Medb said as she just kept talking and talking, "It'll be a fun time and we'll have some nice sights, just the two of us and you know, relax?"

"You just want to see me in a swimsuit," Brie quickly cut in, landing a critical blow.

"GUK!" Medb doubled over, her ears reddening, "Fuck you."

"I know you do... In a swimsuit too, you pervert," Brie said as she sipped her iced coffee.

"Maybe letting you stay in the Land of Shadows taught you the wrong things. You're basically just a clone of that hag!" Medb complained as she whined out loud, "You're not cute anymore."

"I take offense to that. I'm not a gorilla like Scathach," Brie frowned as she set down her drink, "I'm... More elegant."

"Bullshit," Medb scoffed.

"Hey, shut up," Brie growled as the two of them sighed.

Medb straightened her back and fixed her hair before Brie spoke up again.

"Once this is over, I'll take you somewhere nice," the orange haired girl said with a light blush on her face, "Just the two of us. It might not be a Beach but Hotsprings are popular in the New Year in Japan. I mean, assuming we don't die horribly in this shitshow."

Medb glanced at her Master and raised her eyebrow, "Are you for real? I expect nothing less than perfect, okay? I'm Royalty after all."

"Whatever you say, My Queen," Brie chuckled as she leaned over and held Medb's hand, "Which is why I'll only serve you the finest cheese."

"That's the opposite of what I want-" the Queen began ranting again.

"Me," Brie cut her off and catching Medb off guard.

Medb turned red before looking to the side, "I swear, Scathach is a bad influence on you."

A Queen and her Master were spending their time in a restaurant. There was a War going on, but they were waging their own battles between each other. It's as the saying goes, Love is War after all.
