To be frank, I find the sequence of events to be really interesting and the thought of resetting just because things didn't go as expected to be distasteful. Should the consequences of such an important vote but given very little prior information be more laid out? Maybe. But that's something to keep in mind going forward, and not enough to cancel out the consequences of our actions.

I'll change it. I'll just change it. I'm sorry. You can reset to whatever point you like. I'll change it. I'm sorry. Just pick a spot. I'll cancel the vote for this update. I'll even delete it. I'm sorry for making things complicated. I won't do it again.

Rabbit. Not a single person has actually asked you to reset the quest. Are there people unsatisfied with what happened? Are there people who would have reset the quest if this was a VN they were playing? Sure, but you're never going to please everyone. And frankly a quest where everything goes right is kind of boring. There needs to be consequences.

Are a lot of people interested in the current direction of the quest? Yes. I'd argue that most people who have spoken of the subject are interested in seeing where we go from here.

And if you're trying to please everyone? Just stop, because I can say for certain that resetting to an earlier point will also be unsatisfying for a lot of people. Keep going forward. Even people who are unhappy will get over it, because we're here because we enjoy your writing.

[X] "I... I got it. I'll need materials. Can you fetch them for me?"

This is normally a time to spend taking stock and gathering reassurances. We're just on a time limit is all, and worse, we're in the dark with an evil double of us running around.

The party that's bothering me right now is that we have no ideas how well Minerva can impersonate us. We don't have any information and we just gotta hope that things aren't irrecoverable by the time we're fit to move again.

I think there are points that may yet come where we'll want a reset but right now I don't think we need to go that far. It depends what happens next really.

You're doing fine @AnonymousRabbit there's still a light at the end of the tunnel. Sure we could have used more information on the last few hours but that doesn't mean the decisions should be so quickly invalidated. You're a good enough writer to carry this through from where we are.

Look, I'm just one man, and a few other people do disagree with me. Maybe my arguments have logic and merit to make it worth a bit more, but that's not what decides things. You do. You are in control here, not me, not Mura, not Imp, not anybody else. You decide what happens. You decide what our voices are worth. If you decide I'm right and things need to be taken back a bit, I would still say that all depends on where things should go. But please don't have a breakdown over it. I don't want to do that to you, never. If my objections are causing you genuine distress, then please tell me. If I'm out of line yet again, maybe it'd be best if you asked me to leave.

I absolutely agree with Impstar here. If you reset, there would be people who'd incessantly complain that one person hijacked the quest.. And if you kept going forward... well, whether or not my current issues continue to bear out is up in the air.

Honestly, Rabbit, this is the kind of thing you really want to think about before making a commitment on. Take a breather from all this, get a good rest and de-stress, then approach this with a fresh and logical mind.

I'm sorry. I promise I won't give you guys trouble again. It'll be smooth sailing from here. You'll get your body back. I'll even stack things to your favor.

[q] Stay the course.
-[q] Please don't change or delete anything.

I like this story Rabbit. I think you did a good job with it.

I like this development. I find it interesting and I'd like to see where it goes if you're still up for it.

Rabbit, please take some deep breaths and de-stress. Take a break if you need to. You seem like you're panicking. Once you're okay, take another look. Listen to what I said about staying the course, and what Late said about YOU deciding where this quest goes. We're not asking everything to go perfectly. We're not actually asking ANYTHING from you. It is important to not mistake opinions with demands. Keep writing the story you want to write.

If you want to write a story where everything goes perfectly, then go ahead. If you're trying to please people by doing so, please don't.

We're not actually asking ANYTHING from you.
Well, I at this point have one foot in asking and one foot in opinion. Something does kinda need to change up, but not necessarily a reset. And honestly given part of the problem was us bungling the lethal fight, I'd like to mention wouldn't want anything 'free'. I'd suggest making like Undertale and the resets have an actual effect on the narrative, a cost we and the PC pay.

Maybe further discussing this subject can wait until Rabbit's taken a bit of a break or is able to calm down a bit.

Rabbit, personally I was pretty shocked by when the body switch happened, but I think the discussion and reasoning since then has been fun to engage with and make predictions for, and things are far from irredeemable. Are there multiple obstacles to the best possible outcome? Sure, but there's still room to move around or through those.

Please don't feel pressured by gripes or complaints, I think all of us following this story want you to be enjoying yourself too.

You've got this.

these last few updates have been interesting. They've forced us to upend all our plans and scramble for new ones, and they've completely changed our goal

all of these are very good things

Look, I remember the old days, back when we were half a step from disaster at all times. We are nowhere near that point right now, and even then, I...kinda lived for the thrill.

we still have a chance to recover from this on our own merits, get our body back, win the war, and prevent a city from being wiped off the map.

It's not hopeless, and it looks like just about everyone here is willing to put in the work.

We're doing fine. you're doing fine.

this too shall pass

I think the forced body swap was a good twist because it raised the stakes and gave us a late game setback that was painful and scary but not totally dire. If we were to reset, I would do it to just after the swap but then have more additional perspective cut-ins so that we have slightly more info to work from in making the subsequent choices but I don't think I would outright undo it.

That said, I don't think we need a reset right now. Maybe in the future we will, but right now I think Imp has it.

Successor
In the past

Her hand was trembling as she stepped forward to drive the knife deeper. The blade sunk deeper into the older woman's back as Olga had her fist turn bright white. She was breathing hard, the numbness the drugs gave her being of nose use in the face of the stress she faced.

The knife drew blood and reached a vital organs within Kiara Sessyoin's body and caused internal damages within. Olga grit her teeth and twisted the blade before pulling it out. Kiara gasped and fell down her knees as blood flowed through her wounds. Her eyes betrayed no hint of shock or anger, merely pity as she stared at the bloodied girl behind her holding a long knife in her hand.

Olga looked down on the fallen Psychiatrist and held her knife tighter. She had been... Waiting for this moment. A lapse in Kiara's defenses, that was all she needed. Her entire time being drugged and made to follow Kiara's orders all led to this moment. At last, she would kill another Master.

"So you finally did..." Kiara murmured as she looked at the girl before her, "Cleverly planned too. This was the only time Archer isn't with me... I had made sure to give you a stronger dose of your medication but it would seem... They didn't have any effect on you."

"I broke them down. In what time I had when I was lucid, I broke them down. Reversed their effects and made counters. To restore myself. Three weeks of this hell, is finally over," Olga declared as she stepped towards the other woman, "What a stroke of luck that you sent Archer away. What a stroke of luck that you didn't tighten your security. What... A stroke of luck... Not unless you accounted for this."

Kiara smiled as she held her wound and said, "No. I merely became too complacent. When the world is on the cusp of being saved, I lose sight of my self."

"Spare me," Olga spat as she held her knife, "You were just stupid."

"Perhaps. And because of it I paid the price," Kiara said as she sighed. She then met the girl's gaze, "But truly, I did want to save you. Your poor soul which was so hurt, broken and defiled."

"Your methods robbed me of my will. You robbed me of my initiative, puppeted me to amuse you and even took my servant away. I may as well have been your slave. Not anymore," Olga snarled as she kicked Kiara down on the ground and mounted her, "Three weeks."

"Ah... But by killing me, you will be saved. Once you are... Perhaps you will have that push you need. The push to face that girl again," Kiara said as she caressed, "Olga's face, I may die, but you will be saved. If this grants you peace, my disciple... Then cast aside your humanity and kill me, Master of Assassin."

The knife thrust and found Kiara Sessyoin's heart. Olga drove the blade deep before the hand touching her face fell limp.

"Mages have no need for humanity in the face of their goals," Olga whispered as she wrenched the knife out. She raised it again and chopped off Kiara's hand, bringing the Command Seal the older woman had remaining close to her face, "By the power of this Command Seal, Archer... Use your Noble Phantasm to kill everyone within your vicinity."

The seals shined red as Olga's lips curled into a smile. She dropped the disembodied hand and stepped over the corpse of Archer's Master.

"I'll make good use of the prana you have gathered, Kiara... No, Guru. I'll show the world what sort of salvation you had in mind for them," Olga whispered as she looked out the window and held her hand to the skies, "Let the Stars fall..."

.....

One hour later the ritual began.
.....

Two hours later stars began to vanish from the sky one by one...

.....

Three hours later Brie woke up in the cabin...

Oh shit. It's Animusphere's bullshit anti-world magecraft isn't it? The one Kirschtaria inherited?

Grand Order: Anima Animusphere.

This is really one hell of a Heaven's Feel route @AnonymousRabbit. Well done

Welp, Olga went off the deep end it seems.

On a sidenote, I'm echoing everyone's opinion that I'm fine with the way the quest turned out because it's an interesting development. Brie has to basically start over and the things she'ed earned up to this point is recontextualised and may be used against her. I'm honestly pretty excited in what's going to happen in the future.

... so Olga did the thing none of us expected and reversed the drugs in her system. That I get, it's clearly part of her plan. But then used the command seal without it being attatched to her in any way. Like... eh, what? Do we just need to get near someone's hand and we can use their Command Seals?

Well. Shit. That is a very different way of having Olga "become" Kiara. Just taking her prana and nuking the town herself is... yeah, she's loony.

I was thinking it was Olga, just how she would do it. Guess everyone is overconfident, not just us. We still have a lot of pieces to play it seems.

...shit man, dying in a rainbow explosion is now officially the merciful end and I wish that had been the actual end of her.

we hecked up
