My interpretation is that it's likely to depend. I mean, I'm pretty sure Minerva isn't actually planning to bother with Medb. Sure she could use the bull as a getaway vehicle but it wouldn't be nearly as stealthy as she's being right now, so I honestly expect her to just keep heading for the edge of the conflict right now.

I think she's saving the command seal we had as insurance in case we survive. She knows she can probably keep us at bay with the threat of ordering Rider to kill herself, which makes it much harder for us to go after her.

I think trusting Hans is the wrong choice here. I don't know if he knows it's Brie in there but I also don't think he really cares that much. He's tried to screw us over before, he probably will again.

I don't think we're that starved for choice on allies though. Sure, Hans is here right now but as long as we get time to talk, I have confidence that we can get Ruler, Rider, and Emiya+co onside. And let's be honest, I don't think they're likely to try and alpha strike us. They'll almost certainly talk first.

I feel like you're letting a personal dislike of Hans get in the way of an objective view of him. He didn't try to screw us over before, he added in a clause that we couldn't try to kill him. Not that we had to let him win, obey everything he said, or otherwise put us under his control. Not telling us he did that was kind of a dick move, but he could have really screwed us over. Heck, we are literally a competitor for the grail, he didn't have to help us at all.

Any ally we make out of people we already know is going to need to be convinced that we are who we say we are.

That's the thing limiting our options

[] "Need prana. Dragon Vein. Caster's old base. Self repair. Bring me there. Guaranteed recovery."

You held on to your consciousness and struggled to keep yourself awake, "Need prana. Dragon Vein. Caster's old base. Self repair. Bring me there. Guaranteed recovery."

Berserker grunted before making his way through the woods. He changed courses and moved to the path to the abandoned Skii resort. He followed the directions you shared with him through your mental link.

You held on to his arm and slowly but surely faded out. This body was just a little too fragile for your liking. You could just hope that you didn't die midway on your trip. The cold and loss of blood was a bad combination. You endured at least until you could secure enough Prana to brute force your healing.

You blacked out.

.....
....
...

You woke up and you realized that you weren't dead. A dirty cloth was made to cover your body but you were already warm. Just touching the ground and feeling the air was enough for you to be warm. You recognized it as the latent mana lingering in the air. This could only mean that Berserker made it to Caster's old haunt. You weren't directly on top of the Dragon Vein but you were close to it and that was enough for your small body to gather and use for repairs.

You don't know how to speed up the process but the bleeding had stopped. The wound had been sealed but Gae Bolg's curse remained in the form of stinging pain. You're never going to get used to that. Archer wasn't here to help you with it either.

How long were you out? You didn't know... But while the mana in the air was abundant, it didn't take away the exhaustion you felt from your limbs. A soft sigh left your lips as you slowly got up to survey your surroundings. You were in an abandoned cabin, looking outside you realized where you were.

You were at the abandoned Skii resort. Partway through here would be Caster's old haunt but the Castle should have vanished with the death of its master. Medb used the same underground resource here to lay siege to Caster's home base.

You slowly got up your feet and fixed the robes you wore. Minerva had such restricting fashion sense... But you figured it's because she didn't want to look too much like a child. You looked at the mirror past the moth eaten bed and saw yourself staring back at you.

In reality, it was Minerva that was looking at you but the reflection obviously followed your movements. Walking close to the mirror, you held your palm against its surface before running your hand along it.

You were younger, your hair was longer and messier behind you but you had the same eyes and lips. Medb's never going to let you hear the end of this. With Minerva out there, you're not sure what her next move will be. The most obvious thing would be she would make use of the chaos to slip away undetected alongside your body. She won't be taking her chances but it's only a matter of time until Medb figured it out...

Not unless Rider was being a moron which, if you'll admit, was all the time. You didn't have confidence in Medb finding out but if it was Ruler or Scathach then they'll know. Not unless Minerva vanished before Rider took notice. There was also the fact that Minerva had one last command seal to use on Medb. That's going to come to play later.

You stepped back before moving to the door. It was still night time so you couldn't have been out that long. You're just surprised that you could heal this fast, was it a property of Minerva's body or something? The aching was still there as if Gae Bolg never left your body and was still lodged inside you but it was manageable.

Exiting the cabin, you found that it was still dark outside. The moon was low on the distance but daybreak was still a few hours away. You were finally coming to the end of this long night.

Your boots dug into the snow as the short set of steps down the cabin creaked. Your breath smoked as you looked around for any signs of life. Your gaze was eventually drawn to the light of the city in the distance. So vast and busy, even with the Grail War going on everyone was still living their lives. It was just a few days until the Purge occurred.

Everyone would be wiped out once the New Year came. Man, woman, young or old, everything will be wiped clean by the Clocktower... Not unless Emiya gets to the Grail first and stops them.

Rider's wish was all that mattered, everyone else could go die-

You stopped your thoughts there and winced. Holding your head, you fell down on your knees as your head hurt. What... The hell? You eventually turned to look at the sky. The stars... There were... Vanishing. Your eyes sharpened as you frowned. You can make out the trails of prana, forming something in the sky...

The sky... Why was it like that? All the lights in the sky were vanishing.

You went limp as you looked a the ground, "Urgh... Rider."

"Crying for Rider ain't gonna bring her to you," Berserker growled as he dropped some dead rabbits on your front, "And you can't live off mana either. Better get cooking, runt."

You stared at the animals he brought and blinked. You sagged and slid down the fall you were leaning against.

This, uh, could be important.

Edit: Probably what the Mage Association is doing to prepare to nuke the places actually.

Changed to getting the sustenance needed to fully recover (or at least as much as we can with Gae Bolg's curse on us).

To be honest, I'm not sure it giving Cu free reign is the best idea.

I'm worried about controlling him actually. We have one command seal, and then we have no more authority over him. The more he respects us, the more likely he'll listen to us when it matters. At the moment he has some respect for us surviving those injuries, but that's it. He's shown disdain over our distress about Rider, so I don't think asking him to take us to her will help him respect us at all. If we regroup and recover, I think he's more likely to humor us even if he doesn't appreciate the actual action.

It's risky though, Minerva might decide to try and manipulate Rider in this time, or Rider could do something stupid. But I feel like if we throw away what little respect Cu has for us, we might as well use the command seal to force him to kill himself as soon as we have a Servant around to protect us from Battle Continuation, because he'll only listen if he wants to.

[X] Take a moment to collect yourself. Rider, Emits, Ruler, you'll see them again, but you need to survive long enough to do so.

-[X]"We can't stay here, we'll have to go back into town. Find Ruler and the others."

Honestly, it seems like any suggestion we come up with gets veto'd by the rest of the plot. Pull up Aegis to protect ourselves? Does nothing. Go find Minerva? Cu gives up after a few minutes. We want to go recover somewhere? Zombies still exist and the Bounded Field just cut us off from the outside world. So fuck it. Let's get this identity crisis crap over with and just get this finale back on a semblance of track.

Okay okay okay. I'll get rid of it.
There is that better? Please don't be mad. I'll change other things too.

Do you guys want to restart this whole sequence? I can just put you all back to before all this.
On my part, I don't think you need to do that at all. I mean, getting rid of the bounded field (assuming this isn't just prep for the MA to nuke the town) is kind of nice, but the quest in general seems like we can keep going.

Some people are getting frustrated by what seems like bad results coming from not-bad decisions, but there's moderation needed as well. Sometimes bad things happen that you couldn't have predicted. Sometimes you make a decision that you might think is good, but the writer disagrees. I think you're balancing this well. Sure we suffered a major setback, but we're getting back on our feet and nothing has been decided for certain. You don't need to retcon things.

My only suggestion is that sometimes continuing to have bad things happen after such a major setback kind of feels like we're being kicked after already being knocked down. Give us a bit of in-game time to cool off unless we deliberately vote to re-enter the fray. Maybe a few chapters to regain our feet and make preparations (unless we do something like vote to go after Rider now, in which case running into situations is kind of warranted).

To be fair, Aegis has never been that great against a Servant, and we were basically mortally injured as well. I'm not sure what you expected to be honest.
Go find Minerva? Cu gives up after a few minutes.
He also has no, to the best of my knowledge, tracking abilities. At least not as Berserker, maybe he would as Caster. There comes a point where you should temporarily give up the search because you've lost the track, and anything more is wandering aimlessly.

I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry.
You don't need to apologize. Most people range from okay to actually interested in how things turned out. Sometimes people get frustrated, but that isn't a reason to alter the entire quest or its path. Have more confidence in your writing Rabbit, I've participated in a number of your quests and I've noticed a definite improvement over time, to the point where I have had almost nothing to complain about for this quest. My suggestion earlier was just that, a suggestion that tried to take into account why some people might be frustrated. It's not something you should feel like you need to change, only something to possibly consider moving forwards.

The zombie thing, that's a minor detail that doesn't overall change the big situation beyond seemingly needing to have material gathering. The Bounded Field is more the Association escalating due to off-screen things, and that's its own kettle of fish.
Do you guys want to restart this whole sequence? I can just put you all back to before all this.
Remember awhile back I talked about if a big write-in plan is going to get interrupted halfway through by something, it's kinda nice to the player for the QM to give a heads-up? This is kinda in the same vein: The problem, to my reckoning at least, isn't that stuff is failing. It's that we've made a series of utterly blind decisions since the fight with Minerva. Aside from me guessing at random what the outcome of staying quiet was and getting the narrative logic of Medb awakening right, we've had very little information on what the decisions would result in, much less what a long-term plan would look like. Would Aegis be weakened by our then-dying body and mana-draw? We didn't know. Would we need to sink additional time and resources into recovering at the layline? We didn't know. What hoops are we going to have to jump through to get Medb back? We don't know.

The problem is a lack of informed decision-making. In my book, the more you're stomping the PC's face in the dirt or introducing complex decisions, the more you need to play the cards open-handed. That's my advice for going forward as things are: What's the gameplan, and how does it affect what the plan previously was?
My only suggestion is that sometimes continuing to have bad things happen after such a major setback kind of feels like we're being kicked after already being knocked down. I honestly think the point of 'give a cool off period' only works if we take the option to reset back to a checkpoint. Because by the nature of the Association's ultimatum, we have, like, two or three days before the whole town gets nuked. We have no time to cool off, otherwise the rest of the narrative gets rushed and just hand-waved off-screen. We'd have to go back to something like the Berserker fight or the battle with Minerva. And then we get into whether having prior knowledge is worth re-doing the votes or if just cutscene-ing to a different path is preferable.
He also has no, to the best of my knowledge, tracking abilities. At least not as Berserker, maybe he would as Caster. There comes a point where you should temporarily give up the search because you've lost the track, and anything more is wandering aimlessly.
He has advanced Senses as a Servant, and Minerva, as far as we can tell, just turned herself invisible. No camouflaging herself from magical stuff. And if Cu never learned to track someone through woods or snowy ground during his life under Conchobar and Schahact, then that's just nonsensical.
