[] Jump off. Pray Rider saves you somehow.
-[] Telepathy her for good measure. 'Catch me' or something.
Fear.
Fear was something you were familiar with. It was the fuel which drove you to better yourself. It wasn't determination, courage or anger. It was terror of dying, of failure, and of losing against someone when the fate you'll get may be worse than death.
It was a contradiction. Why would a coward like you fight a war? Running away would be much more simple. Running and hiding, it was what pushed you to live through day to day in this war of myth and legends... This goddamned farce.
You were scared. You feared death. That's why you were trying so hard to survive. You hated pain, you hated suffering, you were a coward through and through. That's why your will to live was greater than anyone else. It was what made you a step above all other Masters and their lofty goals of winning the Grail.
That's why when the decision came between facing this monster and running, the choice was as obvious as the sun in the sky. You're going to run and die than be eaten by this thing. So you did what you would do in that sort of situation...
You stepped back and vaulted over the railing. Gravity soon took hold of you before you fell, the wind howling past your ears as you thought of only one thing.
"Catch me," you whispered as you directed your thoughts towards her,
"SAVE ME, RIDER!"
Gravity ceased at that very moment once you felt yourself being grabbed by a pair of slender arms. You held on for dear life before you had the courage to open your eyes and look. Rider was smiling down on you, no doubt amused by your expression as she held the reins for her flying Bull, the scenery around her racing by fast as she descended.
Relief left you speechless as she looked so damned proud of herself. It didn't even make you mad she looked like a smug cat that caught a mouse. You held on to her as she made her way down.
"Was that satisfactory, girl?" Rider asked over the howling winds.
"Yeah. Sure," you replied as you shook your head.
The Bull landed on the street before landed on your feet once it came to a full stop. You staggered a bit before Ruler steadied you. The red haired Master from before came close and spoke up.
"That enemy. Was it still up there?" He asked as Saber stood by his side. He had such an intense look on his face it almost made you flinch.
"He was there but I don't know for sure. I'd advise against going after him right now," you suggested with a firm tone before looking back up, "I doubt he has reason to stick around now that the element of surprise is lost to him."
"Besides, we'll have to do something about the survivors," Rider hummed as she crossed her arms.
Ruler perked up at that and said, "The Church will be here in a moment to purify the area as well as to deal with the civilians. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for your assistance."
"It was no problem, we were simply there to help," Saber said as he bowed her way, "Besides, I believe Miss Rider did most of the heavy lifting."
"You're selling yourself short, Mister," Rider purred before you nudged her side.
"Whatever the case we couldn't have done it without you," the Master said as he held out his hand, "I'm Emiya. Freelance Magus and Master of Saber, thanks for stopping by."
"I was only here to watch but you're welcome. I'm Brie. This is Rider," you replied as you gave his hand a firm shake. So big and rough, this guy was seasoned by trials.
"I'll go meet with the survivors and put them at ease. Rider, can you direct your followers?" Ruler asked as she turned to your Servant.
"You're not mad?" Rider chuckled as she smiled at Ruler.
"Arguing about misusing your charm would only be a waste of time," Ruler sighed as she shook her head.
Emiya glanced at his own Servant and said, "Saber, can you make sure the area is safe? There could still be an ambush waiting to happen."
"Understood," Saber nodded before moving away.
"I never would have thought you were a Master," you pointed out with a frown, "You knew last time too."
"I've been hunting these monsters for awhile now. Upon learning that they've joined this Grail War, I wouldn't be able to take them on my own," Emiya said as he crossed his arms, "Their leader is another powerful Dead Apostle utilizing Magecraft to kill innocents. I can only imagine what such a man with the Grail would do."
"You're in luck then, the Church will be swarming the city and if he goes overboard, the war will be postponed to have him put down," you noted as you glanced at the man beside you.
"I doubt it. The only real danger would be when he wins. During the war, he'll no doubt keep his head low and have his servant and minions do the heavy lifting," Emiya replied as he glanced your way. With a firm look he then said, "You'd best be careful."
"I guess I will?" You nodded as you looked to the side. You noticed him staring before you raised an eyebrow, "What?"
"Oh it's nothing. You just reminded me of someone I know of," Emiya said as he scratched his cheek. He looked at the streets and sighed, "Try not to get killed. I don't know your reasons for fighting but it'd be better if you stayed out of the big fights."
"You don't have to tell me that," you answered him as you glanced at where Rider was.
The man raised an eyebrow at that but said nothing as the two of you waited for the Church to clean up this mess. It was going to take a bit considering the damages and everything. Magecraft was amazing for patching up collateral damage.
Still...
You were close. Maybe you can try killing this Master now that you're within range. The gun in your pocket suddenly felt heavy.
