Fate/Stay Night: Prepare To Die Edition

Yep, it's Ciaphas Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM and his Master is Illya. We're incredibly doomed.

Yeah...yeah this is not good.

For those of you at home wondering why we're concerned, Cain is a commissar who died of old age. As in, he survived a lifetime in the 40k universe.

Prepare to Die was me, though, honestly, I wasn't actually expecting this to become a Dark Souls cross.

So, we just started doing background rolls for what's going on tonight...

... and uhh....

...

...

...Does this mean that we'll have one less servant to fight?

Because Bazette kicked their ass?

Also in all the excitement I forgot that we needed actual plans.

[X] Plan Get Registered

[X] Maybe you should visit the Church tonight…
-[X] Take Lancer

[X] Go scouting.
-[X] Send your human doll out while you visit the Church.

This is a good idea especially with that Bazette roll. Yes. Nothing can go wrong.

Going out at night is just asking to be attacked, in my opinion.

[X] You could still work on your Puppets.
-[X] Your puppets aren't especially strong, nor do you really have a way to make them stronger. Still, quantity has a quality all its own. Make more puppets.

[X] Send more dolls out to scout the area.

In fact, this girl was so terrifying to you that you almost overlooked the figure behind her. It was a very large man, three times the smaller girl's height, wearing a black and red military style uniform, along with a very impressive looking hat decorated with a skull. He cut quite the intimidating figure, even putting aside the toothed-sword he had at his waist. It was impossible to see his eyes from the angle your doll was at, but his expression seemed quite serious and harsh, a great contrast to the little girl before him.
Oh fuck all kinds of duck.

[X] Dr. Snark

[X] Talk to Lancer.
-[X] If you're going to plan for the Grail War, it would be useful to know what his Noble Phantasms do.

Guys, I don't think Ornstein is going to show us his NP. He gave us his name because we gave him ours, and it was only respectful he do the same. He doesnt really have any reason to tell us.

Also, yes, going outside is a risk. But I do want to take part in a Grail war where we're actively trying to get involved, not hiding behind an army of Dolls and Ornstein.

Except Alice is only really good for defence.
So what then? We spend the entire grail war holed up in our place, Dolls eveerywhere, waiting for someone to step inside?

If we just keep focused on defence all the time, then A) We'll offend Ornstein which is a bad idea, and B) It'll make for a very boring quest. Defence is where we excel, and having a sound base will certainly help us in the War, but we shouldn't just hide behind them all the time. I think that Snarks vote is actually rather safe all things considered: We have Ornstein around just in case things go tits-up, and we're also scouting the city during that period of time, so we'll also be gaining some information (And information is power in a Grail War).

If we're going out, I'd suggest doing it by day not at night. Masters and Servants usually don't attack eachother in broad daylight while there are witnesses around.

Oh, and everyone should check the first post again for the Diary.

Whilst it's more dangerous, I'm not against that danger. This is a quest, and we need to take risks if we're going to progress. And we're taking precautions by bringing Ornstein, so whilst it might still be a pinch, we're not completely helpless. Also, Whilst Masters and Servants don't usually fight by daylight, there's nothing that stops them bar the no witnesses clause. If an enemy Master was able to subtly make sure we were the only person in the room, we'd be thrown into a combat situation without really expecting it. At least an night we're going to be anticipating that something might happen.

Also, that Bazzette roll could mean something completely unrelated, or even beneficial to us. It might be harmful, but equally it might not.

Sure we should take risks, but we shouldn't take unnecessary risks. Especially if taking those risks doesn't really get us anything. Both Plan A, visit the Church by day, and Plan B, visit the Church at night, achieve the same but B is more risky than A.

And this is a Grail War, we're always expecting combat situations.

Even if we stay inside, can we at least send out a few scouts tonight? Because just making puppets means we spend a night knowing nothing, and I don't see any reason why we cant make some whilst having some scouts to gather information on the surrounding area.

I'll let this one pass this time, since i will admit building a sanctuary earlier will probably help more later, but I really, really want to be proactive, for building up a relationship with Ornstein if nothing else. We already kind of remind him of Gwyndolin, lets not build on that image too much. It'll also end up making the game more interesting.

Hmm, point taken. I'll swap asking Ornstein for info on his NP's to more scouting.

We could also fortify our workshop since we didn't have the time to do that this turn, but Regis made some good points against that.
