[Exalted/SMT] Shard of a Broken Sun

Huh. So, going by some things I've heard, as a Dawn we can buy up any combat related skill without training times, yes?

Is it possible for us to buy up Martial Arts right now? And if so, how high could we get it after buying E4?
I actually think Melee would be better, It's a good combination of defense and offense, while Martial Arts is pretty much "One needs no defense against a dead opponent"

Baughn's ruled that we need to train for the first dot, but after that Instant Training is a go.

I think the errata got rid of the requirements for 2 excellencies to buy charms in general, though that might have instead been a houserule. If it's not the case, then Amu's going to want them anyway for Wyld Shaping Technique or whatever the local adaptation gets named.

Really? What combat related skills do we have that we could pump Exp into, then?

Edit: Read the Character sheet. We've got 3 dots in War and Thrown, and a single dot in Archery.

Anyone feel like boosting some of those up higher? We've got the Exp for it.

I'd say hold off on the combat skill dots until Exaltation is back online. Focus on getting Amu's brain back straight.

As for progression, Melee is highly promising with a mix of defense and offense, AND also has some neat combo tricks that a Dawn can use with Thrown.

We need close combat so we don't run facefirst into the willpower surcharge.

We could get Infinite Thrown Mastery and those two charms in war that let you use any Dawn excellency interchangeably. It's basically one more charm than it would cost to do the same for Melee, but it means we can switch back an forth for all three attributes instead.

+1 for buying essence 4, if that even needed to be said.

And Melee is far more useful then Martial Arts because Martial Arts pretty much demands we have a tutor to learn anything really shiny from it. Melee is far more versatile in letting you learn its cool tricks.

We can still learn all the Solar Hero Charms, but yes, Melee is more versatile and does have defensive options, whilst the only defenses of the the Solar Hero Stylist are "Break everything around you so they cannot reach you", "Punch away the danger" and "Kill the guy who is trying to kill you".

Anyway though, 2 Agg isn't very bad. It sounds scarier then it is, but two days of bed rest should have her fully healed, and that's about as long as it'll take for us to be back online.

It's good that the winning vote so far though is to go to the doctor.

There's a popular rewrite called "Fist of the Daystar" which has an expansion perfect, but its locked behind Solar Counterattack in keeping with that philosophy.

One day bed rest should be enough to stop taking penalties as well, if we really do heal agg that quickly. Still, it's also good that we had Ikuto get Amus the hell out of there quickly, or we'd be a lot worse off.

The thing with Agg damage isn't that it takes longer to heal, it's just "Resistant" to magical healing. You can't just cast Diarahan and expect to recover.

Mortals don't usually heal it back, but mortals don't usually survive whatever would have given them Aggravated. For a Solar? Natural healing is significantly accelerated to begin with, and Natural Healing is the only thing that works on agg.

Pretty much. The only natural style is Solar Hero, which lacks native defense charms; you'd have to dual into melee anyways to get those (PD, cancel DV penalties, etc), since we'll want a reliable Parry DV to defend others with.

On the other hand, nothing out there beats SHS for inflicting damage on the upper end. Really, really crazy amounts of damage. It might actually be something to avoid simply because of the collateral you can inflict.

If you pick SHS, I completely intend to take advantage of the environment-altering nature of the style. It's such a cute art. :3

[X] Essence 4
[X] Go bright red at almost-kiss
[X] Hugs of relief for everyone
[X] Confusion at other-Amu, try to wake her.
[X] Check that the charas are all ok.
[X] Gather wits and look for a doctor to inspect your head and the other Amu.

Not sure why we lost a dot of Linguistics though, that's an odd loss, but it's a relatively easy one to recover at least.
I explained why a couple updates ago. :X

While I'm at it, here's the inspiration for part of that cutscene. It really has nothing whatsoever to do with the story, though, it's just a nice song. That can be edited into something that does have bearing on the story.

Sadly, we are not an E6 Lunar, so beating up Angels by kicking a skyscraper in half and dual-wielding the halves is not applicable for us. :(

I think you might be underselling Exalted tenacity at doing that, if something derives from an aspect of humanity, the solution is to make it so that humanity no longer has that aspect.

Must have missed that in all of my freaking out :(

Can somebody count how much would cost to max out willpower?

...
:(
"Lots" is not the answer.
And we should up at least one point anyway because we can't afford to wait a month.
