[Exalted/SMT] Shard of a Broken Sun

Disengaging Lurk Mode~

Don't know much, if anything, about Exalted, but I do know a bit about SMT stuff so I'll try to contribute where I can.

Random thoughts: Samael likes spreading around fear. It deliberately let Amu scan it for the intimidation factor. So still trying the fear thing, just getting more creative about it.

However, doing that also focuses attention on it, rather than it's summoner; it might be a misdirection on top of everything else. Would it be possible to scan the thing to see if it's connected to someone specific in the crowd, and then go and beat them up to see if doing that kicks this thing out(or at least forces it to stop slaughtering people to go defend it's summoner)?

...So let me get this straight: We've got plot elements from two different SMT games in one place?

We are so boned.
The saddest of things is that this isn't nearly as bad as it could be. Its one enemy, powerful yes, but only one. We have a high percentage of backup coming. And we are Exalted. We could be a mook human instead! Or it could be something other than a Samael. Samael Actual is a big deal but there are much worse demons out there.

So, we'll have to have discretion about them. I'm still in favor of distracting him with the beams if he's about to attack someone. Sounded like we could expect some backup from JP's anyway, so we aren't the only defense.
Uh, we'll be doing a lot more than distraction. Like this:

[X] Attack, attack, attack. Beam-spam it to someone's death.
-[X] Amu, make sure to use Joint-Wounding Attack. You saw how it damaged Samael's connection to this world.

This might be a thing that is accurate, the fear thing anyways. Are there any other skills/Charms that unfear us? I doubt we'll get a Re-Patra spell anytime soon.

More plottage from the SMT guy laters. I must slep.

[X] Attack, attack, attack. Beam-spam it to someone's death.

From the looks of it, we CAN get rid of it by doing more damage, but at the cost of it becoming more aggressive before it goes down.

On the other hand the other option would leave it free to raise hell and has no end to it(any real threat would be met by it Getting Serious anyway).

So question, how much of a benefit can we extend our charms to a mass combat unit and would that do more damage than just the laser alone?

So it sounds like our best bet is to drop the info we got to the JP leader, help find the summoner(? If there is one?), shoot our cripple-beams to force him out faster (although we only have 4-5 of those left), or some combination of the above.

Well, I Hope we've been getting stunt rewards, especially since we can't Stunt for Amu.

Anyway... This is... Tricky. Throwing a Samael at us right out the gate is cheating!

But of course, Hikawa and the Gaea Cult were behind it. Joy, that's at least two potential apocalypses in the works then, though at least JPs is around, and while not perfect, they're definitely on the Neutral part of the Law/Chaos axis as an organization (Though Yamato himself leans Chaos).

Oh, i have no doubt she is. :D Dis gonna be good.
I'm not expecting anyone to vote for this idea, but we could send Miki and Su's shiny new tangible bodies away to find Amu's mom and ... reassure, let's go with that, her.

If we don't do that, we should check in with her the moment the immediate danger is past. Hysterical mothers shouldn't be kept waiting.

Shouldn't we attack the summoner, not the Samael? Again, I'm only experienced in Persona and DDS, but it seems to me that the summoner is Sammy's actual link to the world, so if we take him out we don't have to tangle with the big guy. Plus, he's probably squishier.

Good luck convincing Amu to attack a squishy human.

Our attack is Not nonlethal, it just looks that way because we're using it on a mid-level Demon with oodles of HP and a lot of scary resistances.

First, of course, we have to find the summoner, but the biggest issue with that kind of plan is that just because we aren't attacking the Samael, doesn't mean it isn't attacking us.

Often it's easier just to put the thing front of you down instead of trying to take out the summoner. On the other hand, sometimes the thing in front of you is a monster, and taking out the summoner is the only way forwards. Either way though, defeating the Sameal will probably get us more exp.

Hmmm, right, I forget that not every player-character is a psychopath sometimes.

Vanilla heart beams that aren't being boosted by crippling Solar bullshit are almost certainly non-lethal. Amu uses them to purify dreams.

Whether that would be useful in a real fight is another matter entirely.

Another thing that's non-lethal: Kicking and/or punching him until he stops moving.
