[Exalted, ?] Most High

Please do try to come to some kind of consensus or development, as I'd like to get to the real decision point for this turn quickly.

Ugh, fuck. Now we've killed a potential ally and we're having to tiptoe around the Dragon-Blooded and we didn't even get the xp that people were so desperate for. Doesn't feel good at all. I don't really care about the decision point, but since you guys were so desperate to save two randoms DBs, we might as well follow through. When it all backfires and goes to shit, I'll be there. Laughing.

Well, becoming a sorcerer does give us more utility. The main issue would be if it's worth one personal action.

If we do become one, we get access to workings, which can be stacked with Prophet for maximum unfairness. The main issue we are facing now is time constraints thought, seeing as we don't even have time to make full use of Prophet.

However, sorcery does give us something else to spend our XP on. Even discounting sorcery, we can only get 3 more charms. While sorcery takes up charm slots, it allows us to buy spells, granting us a lot of utility. This can be important as even when we hit the charm cap, we might not be able to hit E5 for a while. Spells give us something to buy with our XP besides evocations, which primarily increase our combat power.

We don't really have the experience to make use of it, though; we don't even have enough to hit our Charm cap for E5 at the moment. We'll also be stuck picking up a suboptimal Control spell at the Terrestrial level to bind this oath, too, on top of the time restrictions that you mentioned. This just isn't the moment for it.

[X] Trust Them

As much as I'd love to learn sorcery, now is really not the time. Even ignoring that we really don't have the time to make use of it, it will essentially consume all of our remaining charm slots until we hit essence 5. That is not a minor opportunity cost.

Ultimately, an extra personal action can be used to reinforce our position more securely than absolutely ensuring that the two won't talk. Remember that one personal action was enough to reform Luseng into an effectively absolute monarchy under our control.

What's the curent vote count?

Here ya go

[] Extreme Paranoia - Require the two operatives to be within your sensory range at all times, using the Relentless Force aspect of What Rouses Glory to stay perpetually awake for several days. In the meantime, secure a definitive means of binding their loyalty. It's a great effort, but loyal subordinates who both know the truth and are competent Exalts are hard to find. This consumes your personal action for the next turn.
-[] Mount a rescue mission for Tepet Abagael, the sorceress captured by the Fae.

[] Trust Them - If this satrapy is going to work, you can't spend excessive amounts of time accounting for every risk. Allow the operatives to operate as normal, with reasonable precautions in place - officially categorize them as traumatized / mentally damaged by their experiences against the necromancer, and then require them to be powerfully sedated when not on duty, use your authority to limit or eliminate their ability to fraternize with others, etc.

[] Kill Them Anyway - This is simply too much bother and risk. They could just change their minds at any time! Maison is clearly conflicted, and Void Scar is too dangerous an operator to roam free with the truth.[+75,000 XP]

Also just a side note.

Any time that Anys Syn spend putting out fires that we starts with prophesies is time delayed from when she starts on Project Bloodlines and go into direct conflict with Zhao.
1v1 ended with Zhao dead and Anys weakened (was still a challenge after Zhao burned the last of his life to buff us) last time. This time, with the knowledge that Anys have another "Second deadliest asset" that she can call upon, as well as the entire Realm behind her, things are liable to turn a LOT worse this time around.
Project Bloodlines have a delay of 20 years before useful results. Considering the status of Creation and the Realm, Anys Syn will want to start as soon as possible.
The fate of the Satrap here is fundamentally not as important to us as Zhao and Moon (and Nilul). We should seriously consider free up time to act against Anys as much as we can, even to neglect our Satrap.

Indeed, though consolidating that power and maintaining it are two different stories! And it will be harder now that you are no longer the newly instated Satrap with government structure in flux.

I mean, I guess you could still "seize power" by virtue of being able to solo the rest of the Satrapy combined (dangerous but theoretically possible), but other than that...

If Anys 1v1s Zao, she will get stomped by you. Solar Uly is more personally powerful now than Infernal Ulyssian ever got to.

-[x] Mount a rescue mission for Tepet Abagael, the sorceress captured by the Fae and take them with you.

So a thought the DB spying for the fae has been sorcerously bound to not talk, and if that is not the product of fae workings but instead Terrestrial sorcery. What does that mean for Abageal, is she in cahoots with the Fae or twisted into it?

So still learning Order Affirming Blow to remove the fae effects on our DB traitor and possibly get rid of the binding and help Abagael in the future.

I'd prefer a couple more combat or Integrity Charms to bolster our chances against the Lily. We've stomped pretty hard every time we've fought, but I fear that might give a false impression of our prowess, since we have been very lucky.

Yes, that is definitly true, nevertheless, I am concerned that the possibility exist that it won't be 1v1. Also, even if Anys is thus weakened this time around as well, and we can kill her trivially, there still exist the problem of first finding her and getting through her guards this time around.

Having the Zao vs Syn confrontation happening at all is extremely bad for us. Especially if we only hear the news of it weeks later, because of the speed of messengers and whatever cover up Syn use to cover up the death of Zao. Even assuming that Pearl and Nilul can escape this confrontation, so we don't lose more of our friends, the chance of us finding Moon and confronting Anys at all is really really bad. Chances are, we would have to kill our way through shitload of Dragon Blooded and a huge chunk of the Immaculate order as well.

Would Sorcery allow us to establish some kind of secure and fast communication with Zao? If so, we should totally try and rescue the Sorcerer girl, even if we don't use her to bind these two scout/operatives.

Eh, thing is, Zao's currently in a position where Anys can't overthrow him without destroying herself too--we've gone quite a ways to strengthening him.

Extreme Paranoia turned me off even though it commits to rescuing a useful asset before she's effectively lost forever, but at the same time, it commits our Personal Action, and may be enough to push us over to Limit Break too. I'm already pretty sure we're dancing along the edge of that after all...

You guys should take some Limit venting actions, like achieving your Defining Intimacy-related goals of massive scope!

I have been swayed to one of the measures of Extreme Paranoia! Though I'm not 100% if making this his Personal Action means that it's literally the only thing that gets done that turn, or if he can still make some quick policy decisions? I'm a bit unclear on the opportunity cost despite that I'm voting now.
Anyway! I'm voting to mount a rescue mission, primarily because we're probably taking the two loners with us, which gives us a chance to grill Void Scar a bit, and get to know our erstwhile cousin. If Ulyssian can't do some SERIOUS damage to the Fae while he does this I will be quite surprised. Plus, it lets him do a big old bonding combat experience with his new subordinates and hopefully gets him access to a sorcerer who doesn't bear the corrupted touch of the former primordial (Odyssial's greatest foes) upon their very exaltation!

Yeah, the personal action is too valuble to spend here. Nilul was tempting though...

While you are indeed formidable, openly attacking the fortress of Empress Slay is a risky proposition. What the rescue mission normally would be is just intelligence gathering into infiltration. If you intend an all-out assault, you'd probably want to bring an army!

um, I was not worried about political over throw. I was worried about Anys and her second deadliest asset physically sneaking into the Academy and killing him and kidnap Moon for her project. We know Zao wouldn't bow to political pressure, but unless I have missed any of our action that caused Zao to become personally stronger, Zao's political power over the Navy wouldn't stop Anys Syn to take a hammer to his rib cage.

[X] Trust Them

I see no reason to waste a personal action on two DBs of moderate skill. I don't think we should kill them though since they did surrender.

Man, this is shaping up to be another difficult vote. It's pretty much tied now, hm? Do you guys have any ideas for what course of action you'd lklike to pursue when you do get back to Luseng?
