We lost this round. But honestly, I don't think that's actually incredibly harmful for us, we did absolutely nothing to integrate ourselves into the realms political structure so leaving doesn't particularly hurt us. Also she's united the realm, so I say we wish her all the best with it and spend our time lifting. Then if need be we can come back when the realm is in a crisis point and be both personally stronger and have a more even battleground to contest things with Anys on. Plus if that never happens and she keeps the realm functioning and able to counter all those creation ending threats? That's fine as well, we can just work on the Lathe in that case.

Anyway my point is I don't see any reason why we should remain now that circumstances have come to this, better to spend our time curing Pearl, looking for our old Artifacts, maybe checking up with Lea when we're a bit stronger. No need to fight an incredibly unfavorable battle when it benefits us only a little even if we win it. If we can get Zao and our friends to leave as well I'd say that would be ideal as well. If not, then oh well, just have to swing by Saery as we leave to drop the Anathema bombshell and skedaddle ;)

Also on giving Zao Ambition, the time when that made any sense is long since past. If we were going to do that we should have done it in the beginning, not now when the board is already totally against us in regards to contesting her reign and we've spent all that time on evocations.

Could someone explain what the mechanics of Wake the Sleeper are more specifically than that it results in more evocations?

Does it just bypass training time/xp or does it give us stuff that we wouldn't already have been able to get at all?
 
Well, I'm glad not giving away Ambition seems to have swinged back around, because it's a massively stupid idea to do that while going to Luseng. Seriously, if you want to weaken us in personal combat, why the hell would you vote for the option where we'll be dealing with a three-front war, one of which includes other Solaroids?

"Roll vs Artifact Level +2 (10 for an N/A like Ambition), on a success, you instantly and at no cost learn an Evocation that you're eligible to use for it. Then count up how many you got over the difficulty, divide in half, round up, and you get that many more Evocations for the weapon. Once you've bought Evocations equal to the number you already purchased, you can reuse it to grab a bunch more."

Ulyssian has a maxed out base pool for it, and he can certainly use his Fate-Shifting Solar Arete on the roll as well if I'm not mistaken, he can get a Lot of Evocations real fucking quick.

When he hits Essence 5, he can use it on Other People. There's a reason why with a decent artifact blade, we could pretty reliably get to within 30% of his combat power with Ambition overnight.

A solar with the time and leisure to work with their allies can bootstrap them to godhood real fucking quick.

Y'know, for the first time, I'm sorta interested in going with the Satrapy option. It didn't appeal before, but now that we've got all the odds stacked against us I'm intrigued. The reason I went for the more combat oriented one should be fairly obvious, as that's where the majority of Ulysssian's skills lie. I was also not interested in the apparent celestial disapproval that the other option has, I don't want to attract Heavenly attention before E5 if we can help it. Either one could be fun though, and I really do like the idea of shoving Anys' expectations back down her throat and turning the Cosmic Lemons of Hate Doom into Blessed Lemonade of Mighty Essence

You're more worried about the disapproval of heaven than the Deathlords, the Fae and the Great Bull of the North's lunar buddy?

Even better, he can use Peerless Skill as well. That gives an average of ~7 Evocations if he uses it on Ambition. Alternatively, it has a roughly ~95% chance of unlocking every evocation on The Storm Armor of Shogun Feng. I'm not sure that's the better choice, but manifesting a hurricane is both awesome and useful.

Wake the Sleeper is a pretty strong candidate for flash-buying, though not the only one.

We can do both! It's one activation per Artifact. I think.

EDIT: Whoops, one activation per artifact until you've naturally reached that level of skill (So, if we were to get 7 Evocations, we'd then have to buy 7 more "Normally" before we could Awaken the Sleeper again). One activation per Story though--whatever a Story counts as in this game.

Ambition is probably our best bet in that case, just because it's the most powerful Artifact at our disposal, but we're probably hitting the point soon that we can't actually learn more from it without higher Essence. So it might be wasted.

On the topic of Luseng, we could instead try and cut a deal with the Lunar and join forces tag-team style against the Deathlord and Fae in exchange for... I don't know, a cut of the profits? Profitable trade agreements? Hunting rights?

I'm not sure what Lunars want.
 
Of course its also once a story and it is up to Rihaku how often those pass. But its not going be every post even if it represents a whole month's progress. So say once on the way there to our strapy and once more as rule it, and maybe once more when we are back in the Blessed Realm.

But seriously, is there something wrong with me when my reaction was basically this?

But if Anys will keep posting us to new such places immediately after whenever we clean the last one up, could we maybe use it to our advantage in another way, and try to direct them to places where we working towards picking up our old caches and allies? Maybe even get posted to where the Monkey King is by making Anys believe nothing else will do the job.

Yeah, the trade off is either "Grab Ambition's remaining Evocations within our grasp" or "Instantly master the Storm Armor of Shogun Feng". The latter might be useful by dint of giving us some Innate keywords to permalearn even if we ever return it.

When it's subtle and might end up with Heaven knowing unequivocally that Odyssial is back? Yes. I'd rather deal with a bunch of those guys than have Luna herself take time off from the Games of Divinity to pay Ulyssian back for what happened to those subforms Odyssial vaped.

This. This got all of my support! Shit, it'll be absolutely grand, a 4-way war with Uly, an Elder Solar, those shitty Fae and those creepy Deathlords. We can work our way through them one by one and rack up that XP! Dang, Anys is kind of nice just pumping us full with enemies we can murderize.

And as for losing... Look, we should've been crushed by those Immaculate Monks, and bled by that ol' man in the tournament. But so far, every frikkin' fellow we've encountered has been hilariously crushed. It ain't goin' to stop here, ya'hear?

Our training charms are cost effective and can allow us to instill intimates, so buying them seems relatively smart if we have time.
