[Exalted, ?] Most High

I think Zao will probably get why we did it. But approve of Uly ducking out too?
Do you think that Zao would approve of a plan that puts both his greatest asset and someone he's promised protection to at significant risk?

Because if we're going to take what he thinks into account, we should weigh both sides - he almost certainly wasn't aware that there'd be Infernal Exalts present at the tourney when he sent Ulyssian there, after all.

How about we pretend that we have "seen through" their disguises... And them really being fellow Solars! Might make them less suspicious of us, and hopefully makes them more focused on partially presserving their own disguises than piercing ours, as we have already "revealed our kinship" with them.

Detection Justification: I would go of a mix of "Oh, you disguised yourself as a mortal? I've done that too!" coupled with "In fact, the Yozis and I are deeply acquainted, you could even say we've known each other... for Ages."
Lets not taunt them.

Faction: Probably best not to get too complex with this one, I'd say go for an independent very martially inclined solar (not much need to fabricate there) with very little concern about anything else, possibly with some vaguely defined link to the Empress if Nilul can feed us enough to make it seem convincing.
The empress is already working with them so involving her makes our story much less far fetched. Stating our objective as gaining prestige and combat experience against our likely future nemesis' is likely to be honest enough and believable.

Her Identity: The Scarlett Empress, Back from the dead! Or we could go with something more dull, maybe a 3rd circle we know for some reason? Pretty iffy on this bit.
Lets not give her an identity that is obviously false. She is a dragonblood minion with some demon blood if they comment on it.
What to Say: Keep this simple, we came here because we were interested in the tournament and how the best of the DBs stack up, and they better not mess with that... or else. In fact it may be better if they vamoose right now, as we don't want to deal with their nonsense. Basically take the position that we don't care about them in particular but we're perfectly willing to kill them if need be. Then see how they react to that in order to formulate further options.
Why would we start negotiations with trying to threaten them when we don't know if they can with. A more friendly option may be more open. Say that fighting could potentially fuck us both over so we should discuss our mutual goals and see if they can both be achieved her. Our goal is prestige and boosting our essence but not necessarily winning so if they need to win or have an alternate objective that won't disrupt the tournament maybe we can work with them without conflict.

Just because they are our enemy in the long term doesn't mean we need to fight them now when we don't have the advantage.

Argle. My original plan has been torn in two.

[X] Counter-Infiltration

Because proving to Nilul that she doesn't need to be completely terrified of Infernals tickles my fancy. Also, for some reason I just don't feel the Infernals are dangerous. And I actually do feel like buying our own personal legion to act as our honor guard when we march out east to meet Lea/take control of the Blessed Isle - maybe even two.

While I support staying in the tournament, underestimating Infernals is a very bad idea. They are twisted Solars, meaning their threat level is up there with our own. While our growth speed is insane, they might have had more time to become strong. Also, remember that Uly sucks at social, meaning that we might unintentionaly reveal our true goals and/or nature to them.

Holy shit. I adore their interaction so much. Very nice.

That's a mightily fine social-fu right there. Quite nice.
So I guess Uly's specced to handle individuals and legions, but not socialites, which fits all his first age feats

[X] Counter-Infiltration - Impersonate, along with Nilul, a pair of Anathema whose goals are not counter to those of the Infernals, and who they would be willing to negotiate with. Attempt to extract information from them this way; maintaining the cover will allow you to stay at the tournament and possibly win it. You may attempt this even if you do lose to Polemgaos, though convincing Nilul may be difficult. Working out the details of each step of this plan (Convincing Nilul, Detection Justification, Faction, Her Identity, What to Say) will lower its risks.

[X] Counter-Infiltration

I want to win the tournament and uncover the plot of the infernals. While making them think we're allies and taking care of nilul's phobia.

completely ridiculous, but we've always pulled through before and we still have fate stealing palm to help the conversation go our way.

[X] Counter-Infiltration

Definitely seems like the more fun option. I also want to find out why the infernals are here, letting their plots succeed probably does not bode well for anyone.

Jehoshaphat! We're really going for the Counter-Infiltration option? I see the thread's thirst for delicious insanity continues unabated. I'd personally rather go the other way, and get the hell out after some Kung Fu Fighting, but it seems the general feel leans the other way.
