[Exalted, ?] Most High

Vote tally:
##### 3.19
[X] The Obliterator - Always he fought alone, but there was no Titan or army so mighty that it would not quail before his terrible fury. Silent as a sunbeam, he forged a legend of invincible destruction that echoes still to this day. To face him is the direst folly; to defy him is to beg for death. There was no angle by which he would fail to attack, and often he struck from every angle at once, like a hurricane sprung from sudden mists. Like a sun risen from nothingness, returned to scour a lightless world.

[X] The Field Commander - Swift as sunlight, he lead always from the front. A masterful strategist, ever-inventive, his tactics and thoroughness shocked and bewildered enemies and allies alike. A consummate polymath, he commanded the unwavering and absolute loyalty of his legions despite his cold, furious disposition.

[X] Mortal Foe - Adversity propels growth only for the insufficiently motivated; otherwise, it is an unproductive distraction. That was what he believed, before he met her. Their love was devastation, the shattering of nations, for no mortal force could stand in its wake. A love true and pure, a star of paradox, for those two spirits could in no way cooperate otherwise. His equal in power, his utter nemesis in purpose, nature, and name.

[X] Best Friend - Though they were not romantically attracted to each other, nonetheless no one understood Odyssial better than she. Moderate where he was extreme, her counsel often blunted the too-sharp edge of his policies, and helped him remain in touch with the hunter he had been, so many thousands of years ago. Between them, all hurts could be forgiven, and there were no secrets, nor madness, in the space that they shared.

[X] Masked Queen - Strong where he was weak, direct where he was circuitous, together they eclipsed even the sun and moon. The thousand-faced seductress stalked the gardens and courtyards of the Titans and the Fair, plying her wiles, pouring poison and honey into their councils of war. Masks beneath masks she hid, and in all the history of Creation her true name was spoken only when they were alone. A love made strong by weakness: the weakness of her true face, and the weakness of his kindness.

Well, we know Odyssial is going Melee primary, but does anyone have thoughts on his secondary combat ability? I imagine he'll have Resistance due to his stubbornly implacable nature, the physical counterpart to the obdurate essence of Integrity. With War and Awareness taking the other two slots, that does leave one slot open for Archery, Dodge, or Thrown. Dodge for maximum defensive prowess, Thrown as reflected in his use of the sling and throwing knives, or Archery for maximum range?

Dodge. Always take dodge.

The thing about waiting for all the players to arrive like Indrik wants, is that Moon is with Uly through his most formative moments – when he struggles with mortality, when he surpasses it, all of that. 'First Girl Wins' isn't necessarily a thing, but she has such a huge lead on Lea that there's really not much of a race.

Unless Lea decides to make it one, of course.
Gotta love that Lunar assimilation!

The best part is Uly won't be able to tell when Moon was assimilated, (now? Before they met? When they were getting close?). He'll he might not tell if she was assimilated at all.

Probably Dodge. He was always focused on keeping himself/his tribe alive, and couldn't actually hurt anything before his second breath, right?

Man, that's not good at all, that's utterly horrifying and evocative of the worst parts of the mythos the Immaculates have built around the Lunars!

As for his secondary combat focus... hmm. Archery or thrown, maybe? Just for added sniping goodness. He isn't Odyssial if his alpha strike doesn't kill your entire command structure from miles away.

Thrown, its specializing towards fucking up your enemy on the first round, from surprise, as much as possible, and grants a ranged option as well.

Thrown is THE, "opponent realizes your're there when his eyes are gone" Ability

Definitely Thrown. A ranged ability provides additional flexibility, and 3E Thrown combines well with stealth for massive alpha strikes and sneak attacks.

[X] thrown for secondary

Thrown weapons first for the alpha strike and then switch to melee as the range is closed as the others have said.

Incidentally, everything Darklight140 says should be accepted as gospel forever. "But it was I, Dio!" moment included. I can only hope Rihaku feels the same way.
No, I fully understand the weight behind the Moon option at this point. It's just that this is the third version of this quest and it's tiring to keep retreading worn ground. I want to see something new, and the best chance of doing that is to not heed too closely to existing characters. I admit it's an uphill struggle, but it's like running into a game-ending glitch and having to replay the whole thing - you just want to get into the new stuff and you lose your attachment to the repeated material.

I do sympathize with the feeling that we're repeating the same material, but the fact that a large portion of the Odyssey is canon for this quest mitigates that somewhat. Instead of rehashing the opening, we're free to build on it and push the story further than before. Between that, the differing types of Exaltations, and the changes made here in the prelude, I think there's enough potential for new experiences that you have no need to fear on that front. At the very least, I'd ask you to give it a chance.

What's a sling, Thrown? The cogolem stone sling suggests he'd be good with that.

Speaking of, I don't suppose 'exalting as Dragonblooded' is on the table for Uly, like it was in the second quest?

We're going to be using 3E, which only has playable mechanics for Solars. Evocations supposedly give you some of the themes of any Exalt, or even themes not specific to an Exalt type, though.

I mean, if you were a Night, you might be able to like, disguise your Solar Exaltation as a Dragon-Blooded Exaltation or something. But since you're a Dawn you'll probably have to be awesome in another direction.

Sort of, evocations are for a weapon's themes...which, depending on their origins, may bear some similarities to an Exalt type's themes. One of the sample weapons is based off excellence as a sword(and similar to Solar Melee in many ways) while another is based off volcanoes(and likely some similarities to Fire aspects)

Only Dragonblooded and Solars can access all the evocation tiers.

Also making it countable, assuming the other vote is done

[X] Thrown
[X] Field Commander

Welp, it looks like Masked Queen has pulled clearly into the lead, though Obliterator vs. Field Commander is still a tight race. I imagine we have a couple hours more before I start the next update, which will be the end of the prelude. Hopefully we can come to some sort of consensus and/or development before then!

Damn, no Lunar yandere? I was hoping the option would see a resurgence. I mean, what spurred Ulyssian to his greatest heights? The Dragon-Blooded. Graceful, talented, beautiful, and powerful beyond anything he could ever hope to achieve. The burning fear and envy their existence engendered drove him to become what he is. Odyssial may not believe in the power of rivalry, but Ulyssian has benefited from it to an enormous degree. With Lealope as an enemy, a burning sun moon of opposition, that trend could continue through the Age of Sorrows.

Sneaking that in just to solidify it. I'm also liking the sound of Thrown as a secondary combat ability for various reasons.
